RE: Hearing aids locking up when streaming media or telephone

2019-03-16 Thread Carolyn Arnold
It does, and I knew that going in. Interesting that the Resound and the Oticon
engineer seem frustrated about some conflict with VoiceOver and Blue Tooth. It
could be a rather common problem. I suspect that through the years, it will
improve.

It would be nice if you could set it for automatic or manual. I'd prefer
manual, because if the Blue Tooth really worked, I'd want it most of the time.
One thing about it though, is that it uses more battery from phone and from
hearing aids.

Best regards,

Carolyn

Hi All,
Here is what I figured out today on my Resound aid. First of all aids when
connecting to media, VO and telephone use Apples Hearing software MFI. So here
is what happens. When I have my iPhone set for phone calls to come into my aids
that part works well. But when I end the call my aids drop back to the aids.
But when I make any gestures on the iPhone VO is still connecting to my aids
even though I have that turned off. The only way to get VO not to go into my
aids or stop if from doing that I have to go into the control panel and set it
back to the iPhone instead of the hearing aids. Normally what is suppose to
happen is when I am done with a call everything is suppose to go back to the
iPhone but VO does not. This is a known issues with VO users. People who do not
use VO do not have this issue. The Resound tech told me Apple has to make a
change for this to be corrected. So if you have VO going into your aids all the
time you will not have a problem. The issue is I don't want VO to go to my aids
after the call has ended. I want it to come out the iPhone speaker and this is
what is not working correctly. I have to manually go in and change this every
time after a phone call.
I hope this makes some sense to all of you hearing aid users.

Hi Carolyn:

I think you should put up a fight. They didn't tell you ahead of time that
they would not be compatible with your iPhone and voice over.

That is a lot of money for something that doesn't do what you were expecting.

That was the great thing about Costco. You have six months to return them for
a full refund if you are not satisfied for any reason.

I do have 30 days. I might ask him about an alternative.

My cousin has Resound that she got from Hearing Aid Express. She has had hers
for eight years, realizes that probably her hearing loss is not as much as
mine, but she is really happy with them.

The audiologist talked to the Oticon engineer, and I have the impression that
when he got to blind, that did it. The engineer said it would not be compatible
with VoiceOver. It does work, but there is an echo for my calling party. I can

RE: Hearing aids locking up when streaming media or telephone

2019-03-14 Thread Carolyn Arnold
I'm using Oticon, and my audiologist talked to the engineer at Oticon, who
indicated that there could be conflicts with VoiceOver and Blue Tooth. I used
it once, but could not hear as well, and the person I talked to on the phone
said she got a lot of echo.

Best regards,

Carolyn

Subject: Hearing aids locking up when streaming media or telephone

Hi All,

In talking with my Resound Hearing aid consumer service I was told that when
streaming media or telephone calls to my aids that when the call or media ends
the aids will sometimes not go back to the hearing aids do to the use of voice
Over. He said this was an issue with the Apple software and using VO. He said
it does not happen if you don’t use VO. Have any of you had this issue using
your aids and streaming telephone or media to your aids. Another words when a
call comes in and you hear it in your aids and then when you are done talking
and hang up do your aids go back right away to the aids and stop streaming?

Any information from any hearing aid user would be appreciated as I am looking
at trying different aids. So if you respond please tell me what brand of aid
you are using and your experience with this issue.

Mr. Ed

RE: Hearing aids locking up when streaming media or telephone

2019-03-14 Thread Tony
I have not had this happen with my Resound aids although I haven’t had much
experience with them and the iPhone yet.

My previous Phonak aids never had problems with the iPhone but do have problems
with the company’s Bluetooth transmitters locking up at times and needing to be
powered down and back up to reconnect. Phonak says I am the only one with this
problems but a friend has the same problem and is being told he is the only one.

I am currently using one Phonak and one Resound aid. The phonak gives me
betterunderstanding and doesn’t have problems with the iPhone. The Resound
never drops out when using the computer with their Bluetooth transmitter and
allows me to hear myself better when singing. With this combination I can make
notes on the computer while taking a phone call.
