RE: Outlook for iOs

2021-04-25 Thread Alan Lemly
Hi Sandy,

I can’t address Outlook for iOS not keeping the available action selected
indefinitely when you single finger swipe down on a message in the list. I will
say you can get to delete after two single finger swipes up in my case.

I don’t really use the calendar functions of Outlook for iOS but you can change
the view as others have posted by executing the change view button in the upper
right corner when calendar has been selected from the bottomline tab bar.

My main reason for preferring Outlook for iOS over the native Mail app is its
ability to retain focus in the correct location when I close an opened thread
or as I navigate among my inbox messages with new messages coming in. It
doesn’t jump to the top upon receipt of a new message as the native Mail app
seems to often do but keeps focus on where I was in the list.

I am considering switching from the native iOs e-mail app to Outlook. I am
testing it out now so I can make an informed decision. So far I have three
questions for anyone who has made this change.

1. To delete a message in Outllok I swipe down. Sometimes my first choice
is Delete and at other times it is Move. If the choice is Move I swipe again
for delete. After that, /Delete becomes the first selection for three or four
messages in a row and then it goes back to Move. Does anyone know why or what
to do about this?

2. In the Outlook calendaR the only view I see is by the week. Can that be
changed to a listview by the day? or by events

3. What do you like and what do you dislike about Outlook for iOs?

Thanks.Sandy Finley

Hello Sandra,

I’ll try to do my best:

1. To delete a message in Outllok I swipe down. Sometimes my first choice

for delete. After that, /Delete becomes the first selection for three or four

to do about this?
2. Sory I don’t have any answer

2. In the Outlook calendaR the only view I see is by the week. Can that be
changed to a listview by the day? or by events

Yes, when calendar tab is activate, in the upper right of the screen, you will
find a view botton and find diary, day, 3 days and month

3. What do you like and what do you dislike about Outlook for iOs?

It depends what are your needs. I used mail for IOS because I have several
accounts. But because I teach iPhone, I have to know both.

Hope it helps

RE: Outlook for iOs

2021-04-25 Thread Richard Turner
It is free.
The in-app purchase is probably referring to the Microsoft 365 or office 365
account. I If you have the 365 account, then signing in gives you the same
features as it does on the computer for the most part.
If you don’t have it, I don’t know because I have 365…

Personally, other than message threading being tedious on the iPhone, I
personally prefer the native mail app.
But Outlook has some very nice features I guess for those who need/want them.
Someone who uses it more I’m sure will chime in.

I also didn’t see how to turn off previews. Turning off hints also doesn’t keep
VoiceOver from reading the previews. I never looked for this before because I
want to have previews on so I can handle as many threads as possible without

i just installed Outlook again to take another look.
I find no setting for turning off previews like you can in the native mail app.
I set Outlook as my default mail app to try it out for a few days or hours,
depending how it goes.

RE: Outlook for iOS questions

2021-04-14 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I can’t say I’ve noticed your first issue, but I’m also not sure I would have
noticed it. As long as I know it’s a thread, the actual number of messages
isn’t as important to me. I don’t know if it’s still a problem in the native
Mail app in IOS, but after working with my email for a bit, I’d have threads in
my in box that weren’t really threads any more. It’s been a while since I’ve
used the native app, so this may not be a problem any more.

I have seen you’re second issue myself once in a while, but I usually get
things tracking again by either reselecting Messages in the roter or by maybe
moving around on the screen a bit.

I’m not trying to talk anyone into using the Outlook app, and I’m not saying
it’s perfect, but for the way I want to work with my email, I prefer it over
the native Mail app in IOS, which didn’t used to be the case.

For those who think Outlook handles threading better, please explain the
following.
This thread, before I began writing this message, had two messages.
One from Dennis, that started the thread, and my first reply.
However, when I touched the message thread it said there are three messages,
but when I open the thread, there were just the two.
Plus, I was on message 2 of 2, turned the rotor to messages, and tried to flick
up or down to Dennis's message and got nothing but the VoiceOver sound that
means, you cannot go anywhere in that direction. In other words, it doesn't do
s for me in a thread.
What am I mising?

RE: Outlook and IOS Calendar synchronisation.

2020-08-01 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Malcolm,

Unless your friend can access a calendar service using a username / password
log in,
Then the calendar wont have a cloud based service to sync from.

If the mail account is based in an exchange server bloud or on prem for a
business then the mail calendar and anything else is the account will be able
to sync to the iphone

I fully understand that IMAP does not have a calendar facility.

If I can get Outlook to work with his iCloud calendar perhaps at least in the

I know the Calendar app in Windows10 will work with iCloud but Outlook's

I must admit all my calendar activity is done on my iPhone so I've not really

Hello friends.

A friend of mine has just got his first iPhone.

As I don’t use Outlook’s Callander I am not in a position to help him.

He is using the Outlook application that’s part of Microsoft Office as supposed
to an outlook.com account.

He has entries in his Outlook Callander that are in his Personal Folder.

He would like to synchronise these entries with his new iPhone.

I have attempted to synchronise via ITunes and I have installed ICloud for
Windows and selected synchronisation preferences there too.

However, none of his Outlook Callander entries have been transferred over to
his iPhone.

Any suggestions welcome.

2020-07-31 Thread Jennie Facer
Hi Malcolm,
He may have to install the Outlook app and put his email in there and password
of course. Then, it should sync.

I just tried it.

RE: Outlook For iOS Question Please.

2019-12-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I assume you double tap on the message? As a work-around, why not just forward
the message to your friend or, if he or she is there with you, turn off
Voiceover and let them tap on the message although I am not sure why doubling
tapping on the message wouldn't display it on the screen as it does in the Mail
app.
I am a big fan of Outlook and use Outlook.com email addresses and all that, but
while it's been a few years since I tried Outlook for iOS, I just never found
it necessary since the Mail app works so well and I like the workflow of the
Mail app better.

Sieghard

Subject: Outlook For iOS Question Please.

Hi Everyone,
Can someone please tell me how I can let a sighted friend look at a particular
email on my Xr iPhone? I use Outlook for iOS, and I want a sighted person to
see an email, but when I show my friend the Outlook inbox, they see only maybe
about 5 or 6 emails, in which is not the particular email I want to show them.
Although, VO reads me the particular email and many more. I've looked in the
Outlook for iOS app on my phone, and I don't see anything that would be related
to my issue, and I've also looked in settings, as well as in the display
option, but again, I can't seem to find anyway to have Outlook to show all
messages.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Janet

Peace Be With You.

Re: Outlook for IOS?

2018-12-19 Thread 'Nancy Badger' via VIPhone
Hi Shermeen,
My work uses exchange as well. However I have stuck with the native iOS mail
app. I have figured out how to make folders in iCloud, and move my messages
from exchange to iCloud. This way the messages are kept on my personal iCloud,
and for me that feels better. Let me know if you want me to help you more with
this. Hope you are doing well.

Re: Outlook for IOS?

2018-12-12 Thread Dave Jones
Hello
That outlook for iOS app appears to be completely accessible. Our use it
every day for work. You can indeed create new mail folders from in the app.
I have pasted the steps for doing this below from the outlook for iOS help
system.
Thank you,How do I add or create folders?

   1. Tap and hold any message from the inbox view.
   2. Icons at the bottom will allow you to flag, mark read/unread, move,
   delete, archive.
   3. Tap the move icon (folder). Once tapped, a list of existing folders
   in the account will appear.
   4. Tap the + icon located in the upper right hand corner of the app to
   create a new folder.

Chermeen, you can move emails to a folder in the iOS Mail app as well.
I used Outlook for iOS for a while, but I still prefer the native Mail app. It
is very accessible, though, at least it was when I tried it a year or so ago.

RE: Outlook for iOS updated with redesigned navigation, conversations, and more

2017-07-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Might be worth another try. I really like how the native Mail app works and
does things with threads, but from what I heard so far at least in the iOS 11
Beta until now things have changed again. Let’s hope this is all fixed by the
time iOS 11 is released.

I don't use Outlook myself, but I thought this would be of interest to those
who do.

Outlook for iOS updated with redesigned navigation, conversations, and more
9to5Mac / Michael Potuck

Microsoft has today announced
an
update to its Outlook app for iOS that brings a variety of changes and
improvements. The two new headline features are redesigned conversations and
navigation, while an improved search will be coming soon.

The update to Outlook’s conversations design makes it easier to stay on top of
email threads, especially long ones.

  * Outlook now shows more of your conversation at once and provides clearer
separation between individual messages, making it simpler to catch up on your
conversations.

  * When you tap on a conversation to read it, Outlook automatically opens to
show the first unread message. You can pick up right where you left off without
scrolling.

  * You can now quickly reply to everyone by simply tapping the quick reply
box and starting to type. When you’re done, just tap the send button to see
your message added to the conversation. This means that you are now finally
able to see the rest of the conversation while you type your reply.

  * If you want to do more with a conversation than just quickly reply,
simply tap the recipients list to edit, or the ellipsis to get to the
additional actions, like Forward.

For the improved navigation design, Microsoft has brought a faster way to
switch between accounts and browse folders, as well as getting support.

  * The account and folder menu has been beautifully redesigned to give you
super-fast access to all your accounts, as well as key folders such as Inbox,
Drafts and
Groups.
Pro tip: Press and hold on an account avatar to pin the sidebar open!

  * Help and Settings buttons are easy to get to in the sidebar, making it
even quicker to get in-app product support. While we hope you don’t ever need
to contact our support team, we know we’re not perfect, and there are times you
could use a helping hand. They’re always available and ready to help, all
within the app!

Lastly, Outlook for iOS and Android will be getting “a more intelligent search”
in the near future:

  * Search will be front and center in the app’s simplified tab bar. No
matter where you are, the new search will be a tap away. Our goal is to bring
more proactive and contextual information to your fingertips without even
needing to type in a search box.

  * People and Files will be seamlessly integrated as part of the search
experience. There’s a section for People and Files—both with proactive
suggestions.

  * When typing a name in the search box, it will instantly display
suggestions from your most frequent contacts. Tapping on a person provides
one-tap access to the new People
card
 announced a few weeks ago.

Microsoft has also posted a short video showing the new changes to the Outlook
app, which is a free download from the App Store.

With this IOS outlook app, if you have an alias with your main account, does it
let you select the send from address including your list of alias’s, or is that
not a choice? I love the native mail app also, but I want to be able to use my
alias email address’s.

What account type is your email? Is it IMAP or Exchange?

I tried the Outlook app for a while and while it's OK I find the native mail
account is more efficient especially if you use more than one email account. I
also didn't find dealing with contacts in Outlook intuitive, if you are in one
mailbox and want to go to another you have to actually double tap on a "Close"
button at the top left whereas in the native Mail app I can just do a scrub
gesture to go back tyo my main list of accounts. I also like how in the native
mail app I can show any mailbox I want on the main mail screen and I really
like the way how it now handles threaded messages with the Messages option in
the rotor. I know some people hate this, but I find it works exceptionally well
for me and I think in many cases those who don't like it may have just not
understood how it works and mastered how to navigate with it.

I like that Outlook has messages all in one window, like the Mac mail app. I
also like that there is no delay after sending messages.

Get Outlook for iOS

I’m not sure what advantage the Outlook system has.

There are pros and cons to these two email apps.  I like outlook because there
is a files tab that shows any file attached to a messages, and outlook allows
you to save the files in dropbox.  However, you cant delete multiple subjects
with a check box like you can in the native mail app.  The native mail appp
doesn't have the file attachment options.  Any one can add to this or correct
me on something if neccessary.  I am just getting us to the outlook app.
