Re: Should I not run iPhone only apps on my iPad?

2014-04-29 Thread Alan Paganelli
The NBC nightly news app lets you listen to the NBC Nightly news broadcasts.
The thing of it is, only after they have ran in all 48 states. Handy if
you've missed the news last night and, they leave out the commercials so
that 30 minute news broadcast can be listened to in about 16 minutes give or
take.

They also have the headlines. You can just view each story one by one and
save time.

The play button is in the top right-hand corner just under the status
indicator. It says dimmed but it is still active. And, you can't beat the
price either. Free.

Alan

I believe you received bad info. I say this, because I search for apps on my

iPhone for my 3 children. I have my iPhone setup to share apps, music and
books across devices. So all the apps on my children's iPads are iPhone
apps. I have used their iPad to search the app store and didn't have any
problem with the app store crashing.
With that said, I haven't tried with the latest update.

Re: Should I not run iPhone only apps on my iPad?

2014-04-27 Thread RobH.
Again, afaik, the app coding should always work on both as they're the same
processor type and OS; it is only display size that is the operable issue.
An iPhone app takes up a fraction of the display of an iPad, but it can blow
it up full screen. An iPad app will assume so much display area it's never
going to fit on the little iPhone screens.

That's the simplification as I understand it.

An iPad app should be smart enough to check this first, and exit once it
realises, before trying to do anything stupid.

BTW, I think it was BMW that pioneered the emergency spare wheel as a small
one to save trunk/boot space, so it was just enough to limp home on.
Terrible on potholes.

When I told him that this app was designed for the iPhone, he told me that I
could put the wrong size tire on a car and get it to work sometimes. That
was basically his comparison. I just thought it was very odd that he decided
to ask me about this instead of just taking my issue.

2014-04-27 Thread RobH.
Ok, afaik, the app shouldn't effect appstore's ability to work properly.

iPhone apps can run on an iPad, all be it in a small bit of the screen in
the middle. There is an option to expand into full screen, great for
limited sight, as it is then big enough to see!

iPad only apps on the iPhone are more problematic.

Re: Should I not run iPhone only apps on my iPad?

2014-04-26 Thread Deb Lewis
There are apps for iPad, iPhone or for any device. If their app is not
specifically designated as for any device, then they don't have to support it
on all devices. I do have some iPhone only designated apps that do not work on
the iPad and vise versa. However, many are designated as both and run fine on
either device.

Re: Should I not run iPhone only apps on my iPad?

2014-04-26 Thread Donna
I believe you received bad info. I say this, because I search for apps on my
iPhone for my 3 children. I have my iPhone setup to share apps, music and books
across devices. So all the apps on my children's iPads are iPhone apps. I have
used their iPad to search the app store and didn't have any problem with the
app store crashing.
With that said, I haven't tried with the latest update.
