Re: Writing in Spanish on the iPhone
Hi Justin, When writing in braille screen input, how do you indicate that the character is an accented letter rather than some other symbol that could be interpreted as something else by the iPhone? Is it in the braille table being used or that you are typing in contracted braille? I’ve never used bsi for Spanish but would love to learn how to do it correctly. Also, a list of the dot configurations for the various accented letters would be very much appreciated. Christine, I’m taking spanish on duolingo as well. What I did was install the spanish keyboard on the iPhone. Now whenever spanish is required for entry, the phone shows the spanish keyboard rather than the english one. If you are entering on the onscreen keyboard, I believe you still have to use the hold and slide method that others have described. However, if you are using a bluetooth keyboard. RE: Writing in Spanish on the iPhone
I am learning German via the Duo Lingo app and need to use umlauts. I don't know anything about Spanish but assume the same method applies. So, If I want an a umlaut, I tap the letter a and keep my finger there, first it offers some words but then it offers symbols and I slide my finger to the right until I hear the a umlaut but there are other offerings so maybe Spanish may be one of them. In German I have a umlaut, a double s sign which is called something like shafess s, an o and a u umlaut, and this method works for all of them, except with the o and u umlauts I have to slide my finger to the left rather than the right. Hope this works for you. Initially it is a bit of a faff, but you soon get used to it. RE: Writing in Spanish on the iPhone
A quicker way if you don’t' want to bother switching between keyboards just for the odd letter is to double tap and hold on the letter and once you hear a little trill sound effect slide your finger to have VO announce the alternative letters. Once you land on the one you want, lift your finger and keep typing.
