Hi Marie,

Have you listened to the latest Today in iOS Podcast? I noticed you followed my
suggestion and sent a message to Rob which he read on the last episode and he
is calling out Grub Hub to fix their app. When he said it was from "Marie L" I
assume it is you. Well done, let's see if Grub Hub responds in any way, the
Today in iOS podcast does have a pretty large following.

Regards,
Sieghard

2016-08-26 Thread Kathy Brandt
I tried the update that was released a few days ago: over four restaurants I
consistently found that when I wanted to choose a beverage, the app would
crash, and I would lose the order I had put together before the beverage.
Someone suggested that I get someone cited to use my phone with voiceover off
and see if the app still crashed: it turned out that I figured out that I
could hold my finger on the 20 ounce soda, turn voiceover off with the other
hand, tap the soda, turn voiceover on, and then be able to choose what I wanted
without incident . I put a review in the App Store, and DM to GrubHub on
Twitter to let them know this, saying that if I could choose an entrée,
appetizer, etc., that I should be able to interact with VoiceOver in the same
way to choose a Drink.

Restating, since it doesn't look like my original message made it into the
chain: since the integration with seamless, in my opinion the app is very
unwieldy. After initially being a beta tester, I wasn't after the update was
good, before integration with seamless, but their product director never
reinstated me after saying
She didn't know I wasn't in the program anymore, but never gave me a link so
that I could again become a tester. I wrote several messages regarding the
problems I had with crashing and sluggishness. When I called the customer
service number, The people there didn't know there was a problem. Like I said
in my previous message, it was only one person who said that they knew there
were problems, and that I should place my orders in Safari. I wrote to their
CEO by regular mail, and got an email response from their vice President a few
times, but after submitting other feedback, didn't hear anything anymore. It's
really discouraging when it looks like the app is going to work out, and then
when you go to put in special instructions or change the quantity, you lose the
order when the app crashes.

Have all of you who care about this app and who aren't receiving feedback
contacted Grub Hub on their toll free phone number? It was easy to find on
their website and I wonder whether they'll start to take notice if they get a
few dozen calls each day from frustrated users, maybe demand that their
customer service reads you off a bunch of meal choices and restaurant options,
ask for supervisors/managers and in general be a nuisance.
If anybody wants to try, their customer service number is 1-877-585-1085.

And what happens if the judge does dismiss it? Then I guess whoever filed the
claim is on the hook for the legal fees unless you find a lawyer who will do it
pro bono for the potential publicity.

Some have interpreted the effective communications provision of the Americans
with Disabilities Act to apply to online services. Courts have refused to
dismiss accessibility cases involving Uber and Net Flicks believing that
plaintiffs had a likelihood in showing that the ADA applied. Both companies
decided to settle after these rulings rather than taking the issue to trial and
an appeal for a definitive decision. In the United States Sieghard, plaintiffs
who prevail in civil rights cases, including ADA cases, can have their attorney
fees paid by the discriminating party when the aggrieved party prevails.
This is how vice-Presidential candidate Tim Kaine got paid at his civil rights
law firm as a lawyer. The firm was paid when they won in court or the other
party settled. Now his net worth is estimated at
$1.4 million.

RE: Grubhub ap

2016-08-21 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
It may also be a good idea if somebody who has used the app in the past would
send a message to Rob from the Today in iOS Podcast. Rob is very supportive of
iOS users with disabilities and I'm sure he would put this out to the very
large Today in iOS community both those who listen to his Podcast and to his
Google Group which has over 3,000 people. If he does others may pick it up and
help to pressure the company to give accessibility more priority. You can
contact Rob by sending an email to todayin...@gmail.com or call and leave a
voice mail at 206-666-6364.

Good luck,

Hello All,

I am so sorry to learn that accessibility has fallen by the wayside for this
app.

Contacting them via their web site or feedback page clearly is not working.

I strongly suggest that you post your concerns to them via social media.
Believe me, they will not ignore you if you are thoughtful and persistent.

I did a little research for you and discovered that they have quite a large
following on Twitter, about 85 thousand people including some very big
companies.

Contact them on Twitter, Facebook, and write a review describing the problems
in the iTunes App Store.

Okay, their Twitter handle is @Grubhub or you can go to:

Hi.
I tried using this ap yesterday, and found it frustrating. The ap kept
crashing... It wouldn't let me change or edit payment info when it finally let
me check out... And even when I finally was able to place an order (on their
inaccessible website...) the ap also crashed when I checked the order status.
This ap, and website leave a lot to be desired. Quite disappointed.
Thanks everyone for your responses.

Re: Grubhub ap

2016-08-21 Thread Brian Fischler
U am fortunate as I have been able to roll back to the good old version of
Grubhub when the company actually cared about accessibility. They stopped
caring 6 to 8 months ago when they got rid of heading navigation in the app.
You used to quickly be able to flick fro restaurant to restaurant in the new
app it takes at least five flicks to get from restaurant to restaurant and they
no longer have heading navigation for cuisines so you have to flick item by
item through a restaurant which can take an hour. I have tried contacting them
on Twitter, but they just do not care anymore. They went from a great company
to a despicable one that only cares about profit and not accessibility. Very
disappointed in them and just hope my old out dated app works when IOS 10 comes
along.

at least in my city; many of them are really obscure. (You can't order

Re: Grubhub ap

2016-08-21 Thread Don Breda
I must say that for quite a few years I used grubhub and was extremely
pleased with it but now it is almost useless.

They used to care about accessibility but I have sent lenghty detailed
reports at least 4 times to them as to accessibility issues without even
an accknowlegement of the reports.

It can now only be used to reorder from your past orders and you had
better leave them exactly as they were or it will crash if you try and
edit an order.

I now use delivery.com another app in the ap store pretty successfully
and I can place, edit and successfully receive my orders.

I am not sure if delivery.com is available all across the u.s. but look
for delivery.com in the app store.

The app does have a couple of accessibility issues but nothing that
prevents you from getting the job done quite quickly.

Re: Grubhub ap

2016-08-20 Thread kelby carlson
I will confess I'm quite surprised to hear so many people call this
app accessible. I am encountering many unlabeled buttons and extremely
sluggish response times. it is also difficult to easily navigate from
restaurant to restaurant in the search results.

Re: Grubhub ap

2016-08-20 Thread Marie Lyons
I have used it about 3 times. I did find it accessible. It’s really cool as
they send you an email with your updated arrival time. I’m not sure that my
experience with the places in my area would be useful to you. Some of them have
wanted a minimum purchase of $30 which if fine when there are 2 or more people.
I am only 1, though. The food comes nice and hot. One time the person came to
the door and said it was Grubhub and other times they said the name of the
restaurant. They have categories for types of food. I really like it. I do
understand that it works well in some cities and not in others. hah

Re: Grubhub ap

2016-08-20 Thread Kathy Brandt
I hope the latest update fixed how it was that you could be putting together an
order, but then when you got to putting special instructions or adding an item
to the cart that was really deep in the menu, the app would crash, and the
order would be completely lost, such that if you risk putting items in your
cart again, the same thing could happen. My last efforts at explaining this Met
with no results, even when I sent a hardcopy letter to the company CEO; before
the update, a rep did write saying that they knew there were problems with the
app, and she advised me to place my orders through Safari, which had its own
issues, but at least I could place an order.
