RE: Restoring from iCloud

2012-06-01 Thread Daniel Miller
Hi,

Unfortunately, there's no way to pick and choose what information you can
restore at any given time, the only way to restore from an iCloud backup is
to do a complete restore of the device.

A friend somehow lost some of her contacts. How does one restore selected
information from iCloud backups? I can only find iCloud in Settings and
there is of course no option to restore from iCloud settings. Thanks for
the assist.

RE: Restoring from iCloud

2012-06-01 Thread Daniel Miller
You have to go to settings, general, reset, and you can either do reset all
settings, or erase all content and settings. However, if those contacts she
somehow lost were pulled down from iCloud in the first place, then they're
probably lost for good unless she wants to just re-ad them.

RE: Restoring from iCloud

2012-06-01 Thread Daniel Miller
You can choose which backup you want to restore from, but that won't restore
selective contact, since those are stored on what I'd assume to be a
separate part of iCloud, that when you sign in with your iCloud ID,
everything that's stored there gets pushed to each device.

Re: Restoring From iCloud

2012-10-24 Thread Garth Humphreys
You would see the backup of your phone during a restore of the phone or the
setup of a new device on the same ID. So if you went to Settings, General Reset
and chose to erase all data and settings, you would then need to setup the
device again. During this process you should have the option to restore it from
the iCloud backup. I am just giving you an example of when you would use the
backup, not suggesting you do it :)

Hi Bobby,

Where you see backup to ICloud, keep tabbing until you get to the restore
button. You have to go past the check for update and the fact that your

This option is only going to show up after you have restored your phone in
iTunes, then is when the radio button to restore from backup on your computer,
or from an iCloud backup will be availible. Choose iCloud, then go to your
phone, sign in to your WiFi network then restore from backup should appear.

Re: restoring from icloud backup

2016-09-23 Thread John Panarese
When you set up the new phone, you should get an option to either start as
new device or restore from a backup. At that point, you can choose your most
recent backup.

From experience, be sure you are on a wireless network and will be in range
of that network until the restore is completely finished. In other words, if
you start the restore in the Apple Store, be sure you are going to be there for
the duration. I made this mistake and it wasn’t pretty.

Re: restoring from icloud backup

2016-09-23 Thread Greg Wocher

Hello,

When my dad got his new phone back in June, the rep at the AT&T store
started the restore from an iCloud backup. When we were ready to leave
the restore was not finished. The rep told my Dad that it would be fine
if we left. This however screwed up my dads phone. My dads phone would
not let him update the phone when 9.3.4 came out. It kept telling him
that his phone was not done restoring from the backup even though this
was a week or two later. It is definintly important to stay in WIFI
coverage till the restore is finished because you cant do the restore
with cell data.

Greg Wocher

Re: restoring from icloud backup

2016-09-23 Thread John Panarese
If you get stuck like that, your only recourse is to delete the backup and
start a new one. Unfortunately, you, of course, can’t finish the restore from
the previous backup. Again, it’s important to allow the backup to complete.

RE: Restoring From ICloud Question

2020-01-11 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
No, which carrier you have is strictly a result of the SIM card you put in. Put
in a Verizon and that's what it is, put in a T-Mobil and it's T-Mobil.

If I get a new phone on a different carrier from my current one, and restore
the new phone from the ICloud backup, will the ICloud backup attempt to change
the new phone to the old carrier? I don't think so, but I want to know before I
wish I had. Thanks in advance for any information.
