Re: Scrolling up and down with Bluetooth Braille Display

2015-05-07 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I don't have a braille bluetooth device myself, but from what I've read
on list, it sounds to me like the braille support is provided by Apple,
which I think would frustrate me a bit. Sure the consistency is nice if
I'm jumping from braille device to braille device, but the fact that I
couldn't take advantage of the features unique to my device would be
annoying. I'd easily put up with the inconvenience of having to learn
some new commands if I could take advantage of more advanced features in
each device and not settle for the lowest common denominator. If Android
opened up these more advanced features then I'd consider that pretty
beautiful.

If you want to type in a text field, just find the area that says "ed txt" and
use the router key above those characters. Then start Brailling.

There's no auto-advance on the Focus with the iPhone. And I know of no way to
slow down the on-screen scrolling (except to slow speech down a lot). Even then
it'll scroll too fast, so you just have to read as best you can on the Braille

Oh I didn't know the focus did that, where can I find the focus commands
because I normally use a HIMS braille device which you use the 2 4 6 cchord
and the 1 3 5 chord that goes left to right. The 3 4 5 6 chord and 1 4 5 6
chord go up and down according to my manual. Mine is a braille sense on

One of them scrolls pages sideways and one scrolls them vertically. If the

Hello.
Using the Braille Edge, and attempting to read Bookshare books in read
2 go, you have to be able to scroll up and down, instead of scrolling
left to right.
I am trying to find out the Braille command to scroll up and down by
page, but I can only find a way to scroll left and right.
I can find the standard bluetooth keyboard command, option up and
option down, but am looking for the braille equivalent.
Thanks for any assistance.

Oh I didn't know the focus did that, where can I find the focus commands
because I normally use a HIMS braille device which you use the 2 4 6 cchord and
the 1 3 5 chord that goes left to right. The 3 4 5 6 chord and 1 4 5 6 chord
go up and down according to my manual. Mine is a braille sense on hand, but it
should still apply.

I don't have this display, but I do have a Focus 40 Blue with rocker bars. One
of them scrolls pages sideways and one scrolls them vertically. If the Edge has
something similar, this is quite handy. Sorry I can't be more specific.

How about: Dots 1-456 to scroll down 1 page; and dots 3-456 to scroll up 1
page. That is how it is with the Focus displays. To check: first press dots
1-3 with spacebar, the braille equivalent of VO Help. b+spacebar is the
Escape or back key.

2015-05-01 Thread Tim Emmons
Braille equivalent for page turning is chord O or chord OW. Hope that helps.
That’s chord dots 1 3 5, and chord 2 4 6. Hope that helps. Happy reading.

Try the number sign chord and the backwards number sign chord, that might work.
