I want to thank you Mike for your assistance in solving my problem. When you
explained what had happened to your wife, I thought it was definitely worth
making a call to see if my situation was similar. I talked to someone who had
formerly been an Apple employee and he had my problem diagnosed in 30 seconds
and taken care of completely in two minutes. I am so pleased. He sent me two
texts to make sure I could receive them and then asked me to send one to
someone who didn't have an I Phone. I did, and that was successful. My friend
sent me two messages and I received them. Thank you so much. You have solved a
problem I have had from the beginning no one understood.

Hi Bonnie,

This is going to sound crazy as hell, but call your provider, & make sure they
have your texting service turned on correctly! This same sort of crap happened
to my wife & I after we bought our iPhones. We didn't have texting turned on
with our prior cell phones, & the dipstick didn't turn it on when we bought our
new iPhones after asking the dude to make sure & check to see that it is turned
on! Well, anyways we could get text messages from Verizon & other iPhone
users, but not from anyone else! Well, I called Verizon, & after wading
through a couple of the Verizon tech support idiots I finally got a supervisor
that checked, & found out that our texting service was never turned on! Then,
that begged for the question, why in the hell did it take so much effort to get
this looked at?! Why couldn't a lower tech support agent check this out?! Why
did such a simple task have to get elevated, & tempers get flared up?!

This might not be your problem, but it wouldn't hurt to ask the question.
Take care.

The texting on my I Phone was set in the blocked position making it impossible
for me to send or receive texts from users of other cell phones other than I

2017-05-04 Thread Bonnie Blose
The text feature on my I Phone was set to blocked messages which meant I could
not send or receive texts from non I Phone users. The person I talked to at
Verizon said he didn't think it was something I did and corrected it on his
end. I hope that clarifies. He said as things were I would only have been able
to receive and send messages with other I Phone users. He did specify my phone
was set to blocked messages with other cell phones and never said text was
turned off. He felt the unblocking of messages had never been done at all, and
that is why he didn't think I had caused this to happen. My phone was that way
from the very beginning. I hope this helps.

Subject: Trouble With Text Messages

Since I first got my I Phone, I have had problems with sending texts to anyone
who uses a cell phone which is not an I Phone. I Phone texts go through as they
should, but any text message I send going to anyone with any other type of cell
phone does not. I have friends in my contacts with all their information,
mobile and landline numbers and email addresses.

I was told I would fix this problem if I turned sms on. I checked that out
today and my sms was turned off. I turned it on and tried to send a message and
still cannot do it. Do you have any other suggestions of what I can to to fix
this problem? I was so hoping this would work, but it didn't. Although I didn't
think it would, I turned off the phone and turned it back on. I still can't
send messages to others. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Trouble With Text Messages

2017-05-04 Thread Mike B.
Hi Bonnie,

This is going to sound crazy as hell, but call your provider, & make sure
they have your texting service turned on correctly! This same sort of crap
happened to my wife & I after we bought our iPhones. We didn't have texting
turned on with our prior cell phones, & the dipstick didn't turn it on when
we bought our new iPhones after asking the dude to make sure & check to see
that it is turned on! Well, anyways we could get text messages from Verizon
& other iPhone users, but not from anyone else! Well, I called Verizon, &
after wading through a couple of the Verizon tech support idiots I finally
got a supervisor that checked, & found out that our texting service was
never turned on! Then, that begged for the question, why in the hell did it
take so much effort to get this looked at?! Why couldn't a lower tech
support agent check this out?! Why did such a simple task have to get
elevated, & tempers get flared up?!

This might not be your problem, but it wouldn't hurt to ask the question.
Take care.
Mike

Re: Trouble With Text Messages

2017-05-04 Thread Julie Dawson
I just tell Siri to send text message to whomever it is and Siri says: "what do
you want to say to the person's name. then I state my message and Siri repeats
the message and Siri asks me if I want to send the message. If it it contains
what I wish to say to the person, I say "Yes." and off it goes just as a
regular iMessage between iPhone recipients would. I hope this helps. I also
hope the JC albums are giving you pleasure.
