Re: Unbelievable App Store bug in 7.0.4

2013-11-27 Thread Wil James
Speaking of App Store bugs, I found one on the iPad that I have not seen yet.
If you go to top charts and then tap on categories and select one, you cannot
shoes free or top cruising. If you tap that button you still get the top paid
apps. On the iPhone, you can switch between paid apps free apps are top
grossing.

I was wanting to see what apps came up when I searched on the term 'blind'

I then flicked right many times to go down through the vast list of apps
which are available from that term. I have no idea how many screens I
traversed but it was a lot.

I then re-downloaded an app which I'd already purchased and thought i'd
then go back up to the top of the list as there were a few I saw along the
way I want to check out again.

I tried using the three finger flick down, to scroll the list. This gave
me the bonk sound and would not work.

I then tried using the four finger tap to go to the top of the list and
 that too, would not work.

I touched in the search field and flicked right but that only brought me
right back to the same page of app search results I am already on.

For curiosity, I also tried doing the three-finger flick up in order to
see if the list would scroll down. This also does not work.

So in essence, scrolling is not possible.

In fact, I at this moment, have no way at all to get back to the top of
the list or to move through the list at all, aside from either flicking
left or right, exiting the App Store and re-entering my search or turning
off VO and scrolling that way.

 Can people recreate this situation?

Thanks so much for reading and I look forward to your feedback.

 Thanks,

You should also have somebody with the prior version of seven test this, since
most of the App Store related issues or on a server and on their side, not iOS.

Re: Unbelievable App Store bug in 7.0.4

2013-11-24 Thread Cara Quinn
Hi David,

thanks very much!

Just as an FYI. If one turns VO off, one actually can scroll the list by
swiping up or down.

So it seems that the list does still behave in some ways, like a vertical list
as well.

My thought would be that if scrolling using an up or down swipe is possible for
a sighted user, with out VO running, then it is a good idea to have this work
for us as well.

While I personally adapt quite easily to change, there are many visually
impaired users who may not. Good UX would not simply have change for change's
sake.

Just want to mention…

Thanks,

Cara :)

Each item is displayed on a full page that includes a screenshot of the app. A

When Apple first switched to this style of display, I seem to recall that it
was quite clunky to navigate with VoiceOver, and you had to do a 3-finger swipe
to the left or right to move between items.

Their solution now makes it work in some ways like a traditional vertical list,
the difference is that instead of scrolling down or up as you flick through the
results, the next or previous app slides onto the screen.

This is why none of the usual methods for moving to the top or bottom of a list
work.

I hope that this makes sense (smile)

Thanks to all!

Actually I also worked with the betas and had not seen this before.
Additionally, I had not seen this bug until I wrote about this yesterday.

I frequently cruise the App Store exactly as I wrote about so this is not
something that I only do once in a while.

So for me at least, this has just shown up.

-Strange…

Thanks very much for the feedback!

2013-11-23 Thread Shameless FanGirl
Yep, I've seen this persistent little pain in the a** since att least the last
version of the OS as well. Oddly enough, it works as we expect on the iPad, but
with the trade-off that the entire appstore crashes loads more often than it
ever has in my nearly 12 months of owning everything from an iPad 2 to an Air.
You can get around the scrolling issue on the phone by three-finger swiping
left or right respectively, as you might do if turning pages in a book, or
moving between the pages of apps on your device. Far from ideal however, as has
already been stated. *grumbles*

Okay, sending my very long-winded yeah, I'm seeing this as well message. :)

Re: Unbelievable App Store bug in 7.0.4

2013-11-23 Thread Richard Turner
The other work around if you want to get to the top of the same search is to
simply double-tap on the search field so it says "editing" and then double-tap
on the search button in the bottom right again.
I just tried that and it worked since nothing else does.
I thought the double-tap in the status bar might work, but it didn't.
Writing accessibility at apple next.

Re: Unbelievable App Store bug in 7.0.4

2013-11-23 Thread David Chittenden
Yes Cara, I experience the same. My workaround is to clear my search term,
rewrite it, and double-tap search again. This always puts me back at the top of
the list. Sometimes I can go back to the top by double-tapping on search and
double-tapping on the search button without first clearing the field. Come to
think of it, the time that worked for me, I accidentally added and deleted a
letter first, so changed the data in the search field (even though the data was
identical when I was finished).

Re: Unbelievable App Store bug in 7.0.4

2013-11-23 Thread Alex Hall
You're right that you cannot go back to the top of the list. You can scroll,
though, by doing three-finger swipes left and right. This is hardly ideal, of
course, but it is something. Like the new App Switcher, the apps show on one
page after another, going horizontally instead of vertically.
