Does anyone know how to make a Samsung TV remote control and Apple TV fourth generation
Hi I have a Samsung smart TV and an Apple TV fourth generation. When I first got the TV and it was set up by my cable provider I was able to control my Apple TV fourth generation with my Samsung TV remote but cannot do this now so wondering if anyone knows how I can get my Samsung TV remote to control my Apple TV fourth generation. RE: Remote Control Of PC From Iphone Using A Blue Tooth Keyboard

I’ve tried the Microsoft Remote App and it seems to connect and speak the screen of the remotePC well. I can’t however seem to use a blue tooth keyboard with it. I’ve also purchased Jump Desktop Iphone App. Once again it connects fine to the remote PC but there’s no sound feedback from the screen. In this case the Bluetooth keyboard works but there’s no sound of Jaws or NVDA relayed from the remote PC Ideally if someone knows how to get one of the above working I’d be glad to know how. RE: AppleTV app and appleTV remote control
If you buy an Apple TV it always comes with a remote. Especially on the fourth generation Apple TV I find the remote you get with it works great, I for one don’t care to unlock my iPhone each time I want to do something. You can also pair a bluetooth keyboard with an Apple TV and this is handy if you like to type in search requests for music or movies or to enter user names and passwords. RE: some questions about the uverse remote control using the app
There is a code that has to be put in the remote, when I first got Uverse I had to have the technician put the codes in for each tv set, and label them living room and bedroom, so my remote knew which set I wanted to work with. That is the only reason I can think of that your remote doesn't see your television. I have never recorded a series, so all my recorded shows just shows up in a list, but I can watch whatever I want by choosing it. Hope this helps. However, I am forever untying knots in them as they get twisted in my purse or in my pockets. One coworker suggested getting a pair of headphone that has a cord wrapped in a heavier material that doesn’t knot as easily. I’ve had some of these earphones in the past and they still do get twisted up. That means that the next logical step, unless I’m missing a good option out there, is to go with Bluetooth earphones of some sort. But my fear as a blind person is that I will lose them since I imagine them to be small. I do not want to be wearing them every hour I’m awake. I have visions of the thing falling off my head or off my desk or into the bottom of my purse. Can some of you alleviate my concerns and tell me what the experience is really like or what other options you’ve chosen to get rid of the forever tangling Apple earbuds? Secondarily, is it expected that you need to charge them each night? Confused in Colorado Robin -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. Re: Remote Control
Hi, If you can program it's actually fairly easy to make your own solution; I wrote a web interface for my tv using a Raspberry Pi connected to our wireless network and a USB infrared transmitor. Unfortunately the project didn't receive approval so I wasn't allowed to put the Pi near enough to the TV to make it work, but from a code point of view it was just PHP to generate the interface & LIRC to send the IR signals. Setting it up got quite involved but the coding could comfortably be done in a day. FYI I used this http://www.iguanaworks.net/products/usb-ir-transceiver/ transmitor although it was a while ago so other, more cost effective options may be available. Cheers, Ben. On 6/30/15, M. Hello John, This is an excellent question. Shortly after purchasing my Samsung Galaxy S 6, a few weeks back, and getting it setup as a remote for my television, I decided to setup my beloved 6 Plus to do the same thing. Re: Remote Control
There are devices you can get that connect to your phone via bluetooth, then send infrared commands to your TV, cable box, or whatever you want to control. I haven't looked at them in quite a while, but I seem to recall one being around $50 or so. I don't know how accessible the app for this kind of thing is, though, and that will vary by brand anyway. > On Jun 29, 2015, at 8:15 AM, Ben Mustill-Rose wrote: > > It doesn't have any IR built in so unfortunately not. Re: iOS8 and the earpods remote control
Jon I am using the play button on the remote in the usual way and speaking into the remote in the normal way but no luck. Funnily enough whether I use the remote or the home button to invoke Siri, speaking near the phone makes it recognise me which is what makes me think it's using the phone internal mic regardless of whether I have the earbuds plugged in. I should say of course that the audio is continually coming through the earbuds as usual. RE: iOS8 and the earpods remote control
Hi Robin, Are you pressing the control on the mic to invoke Siri? As I understand it, the mic used depends on whether you press the home button or the button on the pods. RE: talking remote control to speak the channels
Hello With VZ here in VA we have a remote that in an ap on the iPhone. We have to go in to menus on our tv and then enter a code on our phone from that. From now on, we can use our iPhones to control channel, volume, and see what is on as we pass channels. RE: talking remote control to speak the channels
Hi John, That is the one I also have and about 2 years ago I was in touch with the developer and even spoke with him on Skype a few times regarding accessibility. They did make some changes because at first it was not very accessible at all, but I lost interest in the project because I find it much too inconvenient to have to plug in the dongle, start the app, then if I want to turn the volume up or down I have to unlock the phone, find the button, make the adjustment etc. I find I don't often need to go into advanced settings for my receiver, the TV I only turn on if I have sighted company so for the most part it's changing volume or maybe channels if I listen to TV and that is easily done on a regular remote with good old buttons. Re: talking remote control to speak the channels
In addition to the TiVo, which I already mentioned in this thread, I recently got a Yamaha receiver which is network capable, although I still have yet to put it on the network. In researching different receivers, I also noted that Onkyo, Denon and Pioneer had network capable models. Note this is not an exhaustive list, but these were the brands I was looking at. All of these brands have free iPhone apps, and they all have a demo mode, so you can check out their accessibility before purchasing a receiver. I found they were all accessible to some degree or another. No, I think what he is looking for is the app that works with an I.R. device to relay commands to the product he wishes to control. Re: Headphone remote control reminder needed
Hi Eric, Here are some of the things you can do with the headphone remote controls. This is describe in the iPhone User Guide under the section on "Basics" in the subsection on "Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic". You can find a copy of the user guide under your Safari bookmarks, or an accessible HTML version at: http://help.apple.com/iphone/5/voiceover/en/ • Pause a song or video: Press the center button once. Press again to resume playback. • Skip to the next song: Press the center button twice quickly. • Return to the previous song: Press the center button three times quickly • Fast forward: Press the center button twice quickly and hold • Rewind: Press the center button three times quickly and hold • Adjust the volume: Press the "+" button to raise (this is the top end of the remote control if you're wearing the headset with Mic); Press the "-" button to lower (this is the bottom end of the remote control) • Answer an incoming call: Press the center button once • End the current call: Press the center button once • Decline an incoming call: Press and hold the center button for about two seconds, then let go. Two low beeps confirm you declined the call • Switch to an incoming or on-hold call and put the current call on hold: Press the center button. Press again to switch back to the first call. • Switch to an incoming or on-hold call and end the current call: Press and hold the center button for about two seconds, then let go. Two low beeps confirm you ended the first call. • Use Siri or Voice Control: Press and hold the center button. See Siri or Voice Control. If you get a call while the earphones are plugged in, you can hear the ringtone through both the iPhone speaker and the earphones. I'll just note that moving to the next or previous track will change chapters in an audiobook, and that the context for what is "next" or "previous" depends on whether you started playing in a playlist, album, etc. Also, if you want to move back to a previous track you might want to first pause playback. Otherwise you'll probably have difficulty backing up before the start of the current track, which is still playing. The headset with remote and mic can also be used in similar manner to control playback on the iPod Nanos and, I believe, the current iPod Shuffles, where clicking and holding the center button can announce the artist and song title of the current track. You can also get an announcement of the current playlist according to documentation, and switch playlists, but I don't have any experience with recent iPod Shuffles. HTH. Headphone remote control reminder needed
Hello listers, For a app I'm helping to beta test I need to understand all the uses of the remote that comes on the iPhone headphones. Here is what I can do with them so far. I'm using the Music app as my practice for now. I can start and stop play with the middle button. I can also stop and start play with this button when outside the app. I can turn the volume up with the upper part of the remote and pressing the lower part lowers the volume. It seems to me I've read somewhere that you can also move back and forth to the next song in a list using the remote. Is this possible? I know I can shake the phone to move to the next song but can the remote go forward and back in the play list? I tried a few things but I could not find the way to do it, if it can even be done. Thanks for any info, knowing it is not possible is just as helpful as knowing if and how it can be done. thanks.
