I find in some apps you have to double tap and hold and then drag your finger
left or right or possibly up or down.

Hi folks

People that donot use this product may stop reading this message.

I have bought today a very good headphone the Momentum 3 of Sennheiser. That
comes with an app called Sennheiser remote coltrol. There you have an extra
equalizer for the headphone for base, middle and trebble sounds tob e set in
your desired sound.

But the bars showing 0 decibel cannot be altered by voiceover.
Maybe someone knows another app or way to do this and if not, I will contact
Sennheiser about the lack of accessibility.

Subject: Remote Control Of PC From Iphone Using A Blue Tooth Keyboard

Hi
Can anyone suggest an accessible Iphone App to control a remote PC with an
Iphone using a blue tooth keyboard?
I’ve tried the Microsoft Remote App and it seems to connect and speak the
screen of the remotePC well. I can’t however seem to use a blue tooth keyboard
with it.
I’ve also purchased Jump Desktop Iphone App. Once again it connects fine to the
remote PC but there’s no sound feedback from the screen. In this case the
Bluetooth keyboard works but there’s no sound of Jaws or NVDA relayed from the
remote PC
Ideally if someone knows how to get one of the above working I’d be glad to
know how. Alternatively any app which will fit the bill would be appreciated.
Thanks.

RE: AppleTV app and appleTV remote control

2017-07-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
If you buy an Apple TV it always comes with a remote. Especially on the fourth
generation Apple TV I find the remote you get with it works great, I for one
don’t care to unlock my iPhone each time I want to do something. You can also
pair a bluetooth keyboard with an Apple TV and this is handy if you like to
type in search requests for music or movies or to enter user names and
passwords.

RE: some questions about the uverse remote control using the app

2016-08-12 Thread pattigj1206
There is a code that has to be put in the remote, when I first got Uverse I had
to have the technician put the codes in for each tv set, and label them living
room and bedroom, so my remote knew which set I wanted to work with. That is
the only reason I can think of that your remote doesn't see your television. I
have never recorded a series, so all my recorded shows just shows up in a list,
but I can watch whatever I want by choosing it.
Hope this helps.

Patti

Subject: some questions about the uverse remote control using the app

So I'm trying to make the remote control part of the app work, but it says that
it doesn't see my wireless gateway even though I'm connected to it. I rebooted
the entire system, but no success. So I'm wondering if I have to do something
else with sighted assistance? but the most important part of this, does it just
function as a remote or can I see what appears on screen on my phone? If I have
a bunch of stuff on the dvr and want to use the phone to navigate to it, will I
see on my phone what a sighted person would see on the screen as I make my way
down the list of recordings where voice over would keep me from having to count
everything? Right now I'll go to recordings and count how many I need to go
down to play what I'm wanting to watch. Uverse only places recordings in
folders if it's part of a series. So if I record manually it lists everything
separate even if it's the same show. This gets confusing if you're trying to
count.

some questions about the uverse remote control using the app

2016-08-12 Thread Gordon
So I'm trying to make the remote control part of the app work, but it
says that it doesn't see my wireless gateway even though I'm connected
to it. I rebooted the entire system, but no success. So I'm wondering if
I have to do something else with sighted assistance? but the most
important part of this, does it just function as a remote or can I see
what appears on screen on my phone? If I have a bunch of stuff on the
dvr and want to use the phone to navigate to it, will I see on my phone
what a sighted person would see on the screen as I make my way down the
list of recordings where voice over would keep me from having to count
everything? Right now I'll go to recordings and count how many I need to
go down to play what I'm wanting to watch. Uverse only places recordings
in folders if it's part of a series. So if I record manually it lists
everything separate even if it's the same show. This gets confusing if
you're trying to count.

RE: bluetooth earpieces - do they have remote control?

2016-04-19 Thread R VanLant
For those of you recommending Bluetooth ear pieces, so they typically have the
remote control function I’ve grown accustomed to on the Apple ear buds? I
really do rely on the start top and volume functions on the ear bud cord.

No, I can’t alleviate your fear since I lost my $95 Voyager Edge about two
weeks ago and have looked everywhere. I even wore the ear hook with it but it
has not shown up. I did stick it in my pocket when I was out when I did not
want to use it and it is gone. $95 is a lot of money to lose and pay again. So
I am back to the Apple ear pods for now.

Subject: bluetooth earpieces - not losing them

I have been sticking to the apple earbuds that come with our phones for the
last 3 years. Generally speaking, I like how they fit in my ears, the remote
control feature, that they don’t have to be charged, and, and this may sound
funny, I like that they are either attached to my phone or the cord is long
enough that I don’t really lose them. However, I am forever untying knots in
them as they get twisted in my purse or in my pockets. One coworker suggested
getting a pair of headphone that has a cord wrapped in a heavier material that
doesn’t knot as easily. I’ve had some of these earphones in the past and they
still do get twisted up. That means that the next logical step, unless I’m
missing a good option out there, is to go with Bluetooth earphones of some
sort. But my fear as a blind person is that I will lose them since I imagine
them to be small. I do not want to be wearing them every hour I’m awake. I
have visions of the thing falling off my head or off my desk or into the bottom
of my purse. Can some of you alleviate my concerns and tell me what the
experience is really like or what other options you’ve chosen to get rid of the
forever tangling Apple earbuds? Secondarily, is it expected that you need to
charge them each night?

Re: Remote Control

2015-06-30 Thread Ben Mustill-Rose
Hi,

If you can program it's actually fairly easy to make your own
solution; I wrote a web interface for my tv using a Raspberry Pi
connected to our wireless network and a USB infrared transmitor.
Unfortunately the project didn't receive approval so I wasn't allowed
to put the Pi near enough to the TV to make it work, but from a code
point of view it was just PHP to generate the interface & LIRC to send
the IR signals. Setting it up got quite involved but the coding could
comfortably be done in a day.
FYI I used this
http://www.iguanaworks.net/products/usb-ir-transceiver/ transmitor
although it was a while ago so other, more cost effective options may
be available.

Cheers,
Ben.

Hello John,

This is an excellent question.

Shortly after purchasing my Samsung Galaxy S 6, a few weeks back, and getting
it setup as a remote for my television, I decided to setup my beloved 6 Plus to
do the same thing. I was truly surprised to learn that the 6 Plus does not
have a built-in infrared transmitter.

Oh well.

Re: Remote Control

2015-06-29 Thread Alex Hall
There are devices you can get that connect to your phone via bluetooth, then
send infrared commands to your TV, cable box, or whatever you want to control.
I haven't looked at them in quite a while, but I seem to recall one being
around $50 or so. I don't know how accessible the app for this kind of thing
is, though, and that will vary by brand anyway.

Headphone Jack Splitter That Allows Dual Remote Control Functionality?

2015-05-18 Thread Alan Lemly
Does anyone know of a headphone splitter that would allow me to connect two
Apple earpods to my iPhone and give the two users control with their volume
and remote earpod buttons? I've been trolling Amazon without success and
thought I'd post here in hopes that someone could give me a product and
model number.

Thanks in advance.

Hello once more everyone.
I would like to know, how do I use the Apple remote, on my phone? I downloaded
the application if you days ago, and have been trying to figure it out without
much luck. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I would like to be able to get
to the main menu, and I cannot even figure out how to do that.

Any help with this matter would be very much appreciated.

Thank you,

Sent from my iPhone

Yeah, I check Siri on mine and it seems to be working fine. I do find it has
trouble if the mic on the headphones is blocked by clothing.

I am using the play button on the remote in the usual way and speaking into
the remote in the normal way but no luck. Funnily enough whether I use the
remote or the home button to invoke Siri, speaking near the phone makes it
recognise me which is what makes me think it's using the phone internal mic
regardless of whether I have the earbuds plugged in. I should say of course
that the audio is continually coming through the earbuds as usual.

Hi Robin,
Are you pressing the control on the mic to invoke Siri? As I understand it, the
mic used depends on whether you press the home button or the button on the pods.

I'm not sure about a universal solution, but the TiVo app seems completely
accessible. There are also apps for other receivers as well.

RE: talking remote control to speak the channels

2013-02-01 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi John,

That is the one I also have and about 2 years ago I was in touch with the
developer and even spoke with him on Skype a few times regarding
accessibility. They did make some changes because at first it was not very
accessible at all, but I lost interest in the project because I find it much
too inconvenient to have to plug in the dongle, start the app, then if I
want to turn the volume up or down I have to unlock the phone, find the
button, make the adjustment etc. I find I don't often need to go into
advanced settings for my receiver, the TV I only turn on if I have sighted
company so for the most part it's changing volume or maybe channels if I
listen to TV and that is easily done on a regular remote with good old
buttons.

Regards,
Sieghard

Re: talking remote control to speak the channels

2013-02-01 Thread Christopher Chaltain
In addition to the TiVo, which I already mentioned in this thread, I
recently got a Yamaha receiver which is network capable, although I
still have yet to put it on the network. In researching different
receivers, I also noted that Onkyo, Denon and Pioneer had network
capable models. Note this is not an exhaustive list, but these were the
brands I was looking at. All of these brands have free iPhone apps, and
they all have a demo mode, so you can check out their accessibility
before purchasing a receiver. I found they were all accessible to some
degree or another.

Ramy,

There are multiple apps that can be used as a universal remote (FlipR, RE
Universal Remote, RedEye), but unfortunately all of these devices require
either an IR Dongle/emitter which plugs into your iPhone or, in the case of
RedEye, they use a rather expensive bridge which is connected to your home
network and which then has to sit near your equipment so it can relay the IR
signals it generates. At least some of the IR emiters/dongles plug into the
headphone jack which means they disable Voiceover. I found one that plugs
into the 30-Pin connector, but the app while somewhat accessible is really
to complicated to be useful.

Having said all this even these solutions would not allow you to use
advanced features of your TV or receiver as they cannot access, for example,
the receiver's or TV's on-screen display and menues.

The only solution that would give you full access would be to find a
receiver which is designed to connect to your network and which comes with
its own app and even then of course there is still the issue as to whether
the app would be accessible. I believe Sony, Denon, Yahama, Pioneer and
maybe others do make receivers for which you can get a free app, but I
haven't tried any since unfortunately I bought my receiver the year before
Sony released one that has that feature. The example of accessible apps for
some of the cable providers shows receivers shows that it certainly is
possible to make this accessible.

I think in the future more and more receivers, tV's and so on will have this
capability and we can just hope that manufacturers will make the apps
accessible although I also think that accessibility will be considered more
and more as Android accessibility improves and developers realize that even
though it maybe not ahuge market, there is a market. For the time being

Regards,

SieghardThanks so much for this great explanation.

Hi, that depends on what receiver you have. I think you need to be more
specific. For example, you can use the Apple Remote app to control the
Apple TV.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for or not, but several
network enabled home theater receivers have corresponding apps that let
you control them. I've downloaded and played with apps for Yamaha,
Pioneer, Denon and Onkyo. There are also network enabled thermostats
that do the same thing. One that was discussed on a list recently can be
found at http://www.RadioThermostat.com.

Re: Headphone remote control reminder needed

2012-05-06 Thread Esther
Hi Eric,

Here are some of the things you can do with the headphone remote controls.
This is describe in the iPhone User Guide under the section on "Basics" in the
subsection on "Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic". You can find a copy of
the user guide under your Safari bookmarks, or an accessible HTML version at:
http://help.apple.com/iphone/5/voiceover/en/

• Pause a song or video: Press the center button once. Press again to resume
playback.
• Skip to the next song: Press the center button twice quickly.
• Return to the previous song: Press the center button three times quickly
• Fast forward: Press the center button twice quickly and hold
• Rewind: Press the center button three times quickly and hold
• Adjust the volume: Press the "+" button to raise (this is the top end of the
remote control if you're wearing the headset with Mic); Press the "-" button to
lower (this is the bottom end of the remote control)
• Answer an incoming call: Press the center button once
• End the current call: Press the center button once
• Decline an incoming call: Press and hold the center button for about two
seconds, then let go. Two low beeps confirm you declined the call
• Switch to an incoming or on-hold call and put the current call on hold:
Press the center button. Press again to switch back to the first call.
• Switch to an incoming or on-hold call and end the current call:
Press and hold the center button for about two seconds, then let go. Two low
beeps confirm you ended the first call.
• Use Siri or Voice Control:
Press and hold the center button. See Siri or Voice Control.

If you get a call while the earphones are plugged in, you can hear the ringtone
through both the iPhone speaker and the earphones.

I'll just note that moving to the next or previous track will change chapters
in an audiobook, and that the context for what is "next" or "previous" depends
on whether you started playing in a playlist, album, etc. Also, if you want to
move back to a previous track you might want to first pause playback.
Otherwise you'll probably have difficulty backing up before the start of the
current track, which is still playing. The headset with remote and mic can also
be used in similar manner to control playback on the iPod Nanos and, I believe,
the current iPod Shuffles, where clicking and holding the center button can
announce the artist and song title of the current track. You can also get an
announcement of the current playlist according to documentation, and switch
playlists, but I don't have any experience with recent iPod Shuffles.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther

Headphone remote control reminder needed

2012-05-06 Thread Eric Caron
Hello listers,

For a app I'm helping to beta test I need to understand all the uses of
the remote that comes on the iPhone headphones. Here is what I can do with
them so far. I'm using the Music app as my practice for now.

I can start and stop play with the middle button.
I can also stop and start play with this button when outside the app.
I can turn the volume up with the upper part of the remote and pressing the
lower part lowers the volume.

It seems to me I've read somewhere that you can also move back and forth to the
next song in a list using the remote. Is this possible? I know I can shake
the phone to move to the next song but can the remote go forward and back in
the play list? I tried a few things but I could not find the way to do it, if
it can even be done.

Thanks for any info, knowing it is not possible is just as helpful as knowing
if and how it can be done.

thanks.
