Re: Repeating tap tap see results

2014-01-25 Thread Roy Wallace
Yes, we understand that the photos aren't stored on the phone by default.
However, they are stored indefinitely on your servers. I just wanted to
make it crystal clear that the answer to Carol's question of whether the
photos are all gone after processing is NO - the photos are stored
indefinitely on TapTapSee's servers. This is in stark contrast to e.g.
Snapchat's policy, which states once all recipients have viewed a
[photo], we automatically delete the [photo] from our servers.

Cheers,
Roy

We noticed the problem with TapTapSee on the 3G and 3GS. It will be fixed
once the next update comes out. We'll be submitting the update to the
AppStore this week and then they take some time to review it. However, I
just want to let you know that the problem with TapTapSee on the 3G and 3GS
devices has been identified and will be resolved promptly.

Hi Johnathan,

Because of the speed of the result, I had the definite impression that this
was not from crowd sourcing, but rather some sort of built in OCR used by the
search engine. I have taken shots of part of newspapers and got the headlines,
not the small print though. So I don't think this is limited by databases, not
if it is using an OCR program where suitable.

Identified a ten pound note, identified shampoo and conditioner bottles,
told me colour of shirts, told me pattern on duvet, identified jar of

2013-02-03 Thread Sandratomkins
Hi,

Using the ScanBox, I shot a bottle of wine and got the name, type and
year!! So, obviously, if the shot is good enough, more info is available. mind
you, this was more a picture of the label than the bottle itself, so try again,
this time a little close and, obviously, have the larger label toward you.

Happy tippling! Sandy.

I don't think the quality of the picture is entirely the issue but of course
it's a huge factor. If you've got a bottle of wine from a source the IQ Engine
database doesn't know about, it's not going to be able to tell you the vintage
and winery. This is why I'd like to be able to force a crowd soruce inquiry
when needed.

So you're suggesting that someone sees the pictures and then they're all gone!
You don't have two delete them and you can't keep them! Is that right?

2013-02-02 Thread Rose Combs
Well, it told me that I was looking at a computer screen, a can no matter
how I turned it, a wooden table and that my polo shirt was a black sweater,
not green and a bottle of perfume was air freshener, which may be somewhat
correct. My bottle of cocktail sauce was a classic coke. Well some
progress, it least it talking to me now. The computer screen was correct as
was the wooden table. Hmm, dependable, will I will leave it up to the
reader to see how dependable it is for me at this point. Why can't I do it
is the big question. I can run computers, iPhone, all sorts of stuff even
if it does not talk to me so why can't I get an app to identify anything or
take a picture of anything but my fingers?

No I don't intentionally take pictures of my fingers on a regular basis but
I can tell you from what my nephew said, it was a nice picture of my
fingers, LOL.

I wasn't thinking when I bropped a bunch of K cups in a canister, but it
distinguishes the brand name. That was enough to help me figure out which
one I wanted. I had Green Mountain and Folgers, and I prefer different
water levels. It even told me I have a black dog, and my hubby had on a
gray shirt. I like this app.

I really wanted this to work since I am here alone so much of time and
end up playing guess what this is, especially when someone else put it

No Carol, you just take a pic and the app does a very good job of
identifying the object. You don't need to do anything else.

I think this app is one of the best I have ever downloaded. Here are a few
of the things I've tested it on with great success, trying it out for a
class of students thinking of buying iPhones.

Identified a ten pound note, identified shampoo and conditioner bottles,
told me colour of shirts, told me pattern on duvet, identified jar of
coffee, identified can of coke, read title of CD, and more.

Been chatting to others on Twitter and the overall verdict is that this app
is great.

Carol,

The app utilizes an algorithm database, as well as crowdsourcing. You don't
need to upload anything into the app itself. Just try it out for yourself,

Also, you can always direct your questions at TapTapSee directly on

Hope that helps!

What's the big attraction about this app in terms of taking pictures, so
far as visually impaired people are concerned?

I missed out on the beginning of talk about this app and would really
like to know why it's getting popular!

Sent from my iPhoneWith good lighting, the app was very accurate.
 Is seems
that the result is only spoken once. Can you get the results to
 repeat? All
 suggestions are welcomed.

 Thanks in advance.

2013-02-01 Thread Keith Bundy
Just a funny thing that happened today. Being totally blind, I sometimes don't
focus a camera well. I took a picture of a co-worker today to see what Tap Tap
See would say, and all it said was air vent.

Been chatting to others on Twitter and the overall verdict is that this app
 is great.

I don't know how it works, just that it does, and brilliantly.

Where does its database come from? Do you have to create one from objects
 to start with?
