I don't have a braille bluetooth device myself, but from what I've read
on list, it sounds to me like the braille support is provided by Apple,
which I think would frustrate me a bit. Sure the consistency is nice if
I'm jumping from braille device to braille device, but the fact that I
couldn't take advantage of the features unique to my device would be
annoying. I'd easily put up with the inconvenience of having to learn
some new commands if I could take advantage of more advanced features in
each device and not settle for the lowest common denominator. If Android
opened up these more advanced features then I'd consider that pretty
beautiful.

I have an older model of the Focus Blue, and it doesn't have a keyboard-locking
feature. I'd forgotten about that. Someone can probably tell you how to unlock
the keyboard.

On a Focus Blue braille display paired with your iDevice, you'd find them in
the VO Help (k-chord) then press the relevant keys to hear/read description
of what they do.

Hello.
Using the Braille Edge, and attempting to read Bookshare books in read
2 go, you have to be able to scroll up and down, instead of scrolling
left to right.
I am trying to find out the Braille command to scroll up and down by
page, but I can only find a way to scroll left and right.
I can find the standard bluetooth keyboard command, option up and
option down, but am looking for the braille equivalent.
Thanks for any assistance.

AFAIK, those two keys are just shift keys not used for navigating the
phone.
Press k-chord on it to have it speak the keys as you press them. B-chord to
Back out of VO Help.

There's no auto-advance on the Focus with the iPhone. And I know of no way
to slow down the on-screen scrolling (except to slow speech down a lot).
Even then it'll scroll too fast, so you just have to read as best you can on
the Braille display. If the material you're reading is good, you'll enjoy it
and get into the rhythm.

I don't have this display, but I do have a Focus 40 Blue with rocker bars. One
of them scrolls pages sideways and one scrolls them vertically. If the Edge has
something similar, this is quite handy. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Try the number sign chord and the backwards number sign chord, that might work.

2015-05-01 Thread Tim Emmons
Braille equivalent for page turning is chord O or chord OW. Hope that helps.
That’s chord dots 1 3 5, and chord 2 4 6. Hope that helps. Happy reading.
