Hi, Yep, it's correct. Skype doesn't need phone signal, so you should be good. Re: Skype and IPhone
I don’t believe a phone number has anything to do with the Skype service. You can purchase a plan and use their service exclusively for about twenty bucks a year and get US and Canadian Unlimited calls to land and cell phones, and still a number is not necessary. Even if you use their SMS service, it’s done through your Skype account, not your cell phone number. RE: Using skype on iPhone with bluetooth earpiece.
Hi Ed, Glad you more or less figured it out. I rarely use my bluetooth earpiece for phone calls let alone for Skype. Usually when I use Skype I do so because I like the high quality and bluetooth earpieces or headsets don't exactly help the quality. The call may sound OK on my end, but I have never yet tried a bluetooth earpiece or headset where the person on the other end didn't notice that I was using a bluetooth device. Hello again Sieghard. Thanks again for taking the time to reply. Here is an update, thanks for clarifying that you can not answer a skype call using the bluetooth headset directly and that you have to answer it on the phone itself, I was able to answer a couple of calls today successfully, however; when I answer the call from the phone with bluetooth enabled and speak on the headset it exhibits a couple of small annoyances however I can live with them if I must. As you know the jabra xtreme has voice porompts built-in. When I answer a skype call the headset announces call ended about 5 seconds into the call, I have to wait until the headset does this for the person at the other end of the call to hear me, however; I can live with that if I must. I guess what was throwing me off is that the headset was announcing call ended even though if I wait until the announcement is over the call actually comes through the headset successfully. New Skype on iPhone 6
Hi, I got a call from someone today who is using the newest version of skype on her iPhone 6. She was using the internal microphone of the iPhone, but I could hardly hear her. She changed from speaker phone on and off and it made no difference. If she talked right into the phone, it sounded OK, so it would appear that it works on hand set when the speaker phone is off, but speaker phone with the phone hanging around her neck could hardly be heard. Is there any kind of adjustment for volume in settings? I don't have the new OS, so I don't know the answer to that. Has anyone else had this problem? She was using the internal microphone of the iPhone, but I could hardly hear her. She changed from speaker phone on and off and it made no difference. If she talked right into the phone, it sounded OK, so it would appear that it works on hand set when the speaker phone is off, but speaker phone with the phone hanging around her neck could hardly be heard. Is there any kind of adjustment for volume in settings? I don't have the new OS, so I don't know the answer to that. Has anyone else had this problem? Hi Jenny, Where does it say you can remove a contact without blocking the contact? When you double tap on a contact, then double tap on More and on Block you can block a contact or you can block and remove a contact, but not only remove it. Thanks Sieghard, it seemed a bit beyond belief that they would have left it out, and yes it certainly is easy, perhaps logical, too, that your contacts are on the same place as the DialPad. Re: Skype and iPhone Contacts
Hi all, If I'm understanding correctly, some can't access their Contacts within the new Skype5 app? I am perfectly able to access all my contacts by simply adding them to Skype via toggle within Settings Privacy Contacts. I then turned off this Contacts feature within Skype5, and Skype once again informed me that I needed to turn on related setting within Privacy settings. In other words, one can add Contacts then use in-app search utility to search for a specific iOS Contact within Skype5 and the phone number will be automatically placed on dial pad screen. If one chooses, one can then go into Settings Privacy and disable Skype's ability to see one's Contacts--nothing appears to be imported into Skype because I can then disable Skype's ability to see my iOS Contacts. I upgraded the app and did not have to uninstall then reinstall on my iPod Touch 5th gen. RE: Skype and iPhone Contacts
Hi Joseph, You posted responses to both the Contact and the Recent Chat thread. I assume the solution you speak about which took you 5 minutes to figure out relates o Contacts and not to deleting items from the Recents list, a feature which really is missing. Could you explain what you mean by in-app search utility? Do you refer to using the Addressbook button at the top right of the DialPad? I think we were all a bit confused by the fact that when you tap on the All button in the People view there are only 2 options, All and Online. In the previous Skype version one would use the Lists button and then there were options for All, Skype Contacts, Online Contacts, Saved Phone Numbers and also iPhone Contacts. I think this was maybe a bit more intuitive and I don't quite understand why they didn't at least put iPhone Contacts as a third option with All and Online. Then it would have been possible to access the contact list either from inside the People view as well as from the DialPad. Also, if I use the search field in the People view and search for a contact I only get results from my Skype contacts and not from my iPhone Contacts even though I have allowed Skype access to my contact list.
