chess clock
Hi there if you can find an app to be used for a chess clock it will be fine to use on your own but if you used it in an actual chess tournament and your phone rang you would loose the game. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: chess clock
Hi John and Gerry, My original recommendation of a chess clock app (some months ago) was for use by someone on the MacVisionaries who wanted to play tournaments by Skype, similar to Gerry's comments. I'n not sure how Gabriel planned to use this, but he did ask for suggestions for an accessible chess clock app. I'll just add that recent model iPhones support the Do Not Disturb function. The Merkmatics Chess clock app that I recommended ($0.99) is also usable on an IPad or iPhone Touch. There's a detailed review up at AppleVis based on tests with the iPhone 5 and the iPad Mini. • AppleVis Review of the Merkmatics Chess Clock: http://www.applevis.com/apps/ios/utilities/merkmatics-chess-clock App Store link to MerkMatics Chess Clock ($0.99) https://itunes.apple.com/app/merkmatics-chess-clock/id347870076?mt=8 I think this has the most features, but a few free apps have been suggested that you can try. Sorry for inadvertently sending off an earlier incomplete post. Cheers, Esther -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: Searching for a Chess Clock.
I found a free chess clock that might do what you want. I'll paste the link below. The settings button is not labelled. But it seems fully accessible. It has not been updated in a couple years. It defaults to a 90 minute game, allowing 5 minutes each per move. I just did a search for chess clocks, and since this one was free, thought I'd check it out. I am not a good enough player to use a clock. Re: Searching for a Chess Clock.
Hello Gabriele and Richard, I can recommend the Merkmatics Chess clock, which is internationally available, frequently updated, and very accessible: • Merkmatics Chess Clock ($0.99) by Merkmatics https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/merkmatics-chess-clock/id347870076?mt=8 You can set this up with any of the popular delay settings (USCF, Fischer compensation, Bronstein compensation, or no delay). I posted about this app to the MacVisionaries list when Brandt was looking for a computer chess clock, but you can read a full review at the AppleVis site: http://www.applevis.com/apps/ios/utilities/merkmatics-chess-clock This is a universal app, so it will work on both an iPhone (or iPod Touch), or an iPad. It has lots of user configurable options. There is one unlabeled button in the very center of the screen that brings up the settings options. You can try the free app that Richard found, and if you want another option, you can try this one. You can also read more about the app at the developer's web site: http://www.merkmatics.com/ HTH.
