You need the "PhoneLink" app on a Windows 11 PC and the "Link to
Windows" app
on your iPhone.

PhoneLink should already be on your computer if it's updated to the
latest
Windows 11 version and Link to Windows of course has to be downloaded from the
App Store on your iPhone, it does not work with an iPad (or at least not yet).

RE: “Handoff” between iOS and MS-Windows

2023-07-29 Thread Richard Turner
Well, once I actually paid attention to the Phone Link app on my Windows 11
Dell Laptop saying a program was preventing me from making calls, I decided to
investigate what app on a Dell laptop conflicts with phone calls.

Dell supposedly has their own phone app.

Dell Mobile Connect.

I found the drivers listed in Programs and Features, uninstalled it, rebooted,
and the Phone link app began working as you all have said it did immediately.

So, if you have a Dell machine and cannot get it to work, try uninstalling the
Dell Mobile Connect Drivers in Programs and Features.

I was able to call my wife and she said I sounded very clear, using my Logitech
USB headset.

Persistence pays off again!

PhoneLink probably can't do as much as what is possible between an iPhone and a
Mac, but considering it was only officially released a couple of months ago,
PhoneLink works great. I get all my notifications on my iPhone, if you get a
message with a 2-factor authentication code you can copy and paste it on your
Windows computer and you can reply to and send text messages from the computer.
You can also receive and make phone calls, if I get a call on my iPhone a
window pops up on my computer and focus is on the "
Transfer call to PC" button. If I press enter or spacebar and wear a USB
headset with microphone or want to use the speaker system of my laptop the call
is instantly transferred to my computer and I can similarly transfer it back to
the phone.

Hello,
One can use the phonelink app between iOS and Windows11 devices. This feature
works similar to handoff where one is able to work with messages/calls between
the Windows app and the iOS app. It uses bluetooth between the phone and PC.

Re: “Handoff” between iOS and MS-Windows

2023-07-27 Thread Shai
Hello,
One can use the phonelink app between iOS and Windows11 devices. This
feature works similar to handoff where one is able to work with
messages/calls between the Windows app and the iOS app. It uses
bluetooth between the phone and PC.

I would have thought the same but for some reason handoff on both devices has

I always thought handoff was document related
I never really thought of it from the phone side of things.

I have absolutely no idea. I only said I have never done that. Perhaps you
could call Apple Accessibility, or just Apple main number and ask. I personally
do not imagine that is something I would do since using the watch for a phone
call uses quite a lot of its battery.

It does work with the phone.
But, I’ve only done it from the watch to the phone.
Folks that want to do multiple handoffs should call Apple if they cannot make
it happen on their own.

Re: handoff

2021-01-07 Thread Richard Turner
I've never tried a second handoff. When I have answered a call on the watch and
transferred it to my phone, the icon was way in the upper left kind of between
the cell signal and the first app is the best way I can describe that.

Richard

"You know," said Arthur, "it's at times like this, when I'm trapped in a Vogon
airlock with a man from Betelgeuse, and about to die of asphyxiation in deep
space, that I really wish I'd listened to what my mother told me when I was
young."
"Why, what did she tell you?"
"I don't know, I didn't listen."

Handoff and Apple Watch question.

2018-01-13 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
I wonder if any list member would be kind enough to give me a pointer as to the
use of Handoff between my iPhone7 and Apple Watch series 2.

As I understand it I should be able to share certain tasks between the two
devices.

So here’s what I do, perhaps I am getting it wrong but I have had no success so
far.

If I start Mail on the watch and open a message thread.

Now if I unlock my iPhone7 am I right in assuming that the mail task should
appear in Task Switcher? If not how do I pickup the task on the iPhone?

Thanks in advance for your help and tolerance of a new Apple Watch user.

Malcolm

Handoff

2018-01-02 Thread Trea Abma
Hi,
I’m trying to use handoff on my Apple Watch. I reply to an email on the watch,
then I try to finish the reply on my iPhone. The manual says that I have to
look in the app switcher, but it doesn’t work. In earlier versions, I could
find the app on the lock screen, so I think I know how it works.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Re: Apple Watch and handoff

2016-01-08 Thread Robert Carter
Hi,

I tried this experiment as well. I discovered that I could not always flick on
the lock screen and have VoiceOver speak the mail button. If, however, I used
explore by touch, instead of flicking, I was always able to locate the mail
handoff button just above the unlock button.

Re: Apple Watch and handoff

2016-01-07 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi Nancy,

I made sure Mail was closed on my phone and then tried checking mail on my
watch and starting a reply. Mail didn't appear on my phone's lock screen or app
switcher, even though it played the New Mail sound, so I knew Mail was active.
I went into the Watch app, chose General, and verified that Handoff was turned
on. I double-tapped it twice, to turn it off and back on. Later, I closed Mail
on the phone and opened it on the watch. Again, I started a reply to a message
and checked my phone. This time, Mail did appear on the lock screen. I
double-tapped the Mail icon, and the original message opened, not the one I had
started by choosing Reply. So try toggling the Handoff setting; it may help.

Best,
Anna

Anna,
I have checked both my phone settings, and my watch settings. Handoff is turned
on in both places. Here's how I am doing this. I start reading an email on my
Apple Watch. I decide I want to reply to the email. I then go to the lock
screen of my iPhone. I flick right and there is nothing. According to the
literature I have read, the email app should be there. And I should be able to

might be doing wrong? Thanks so much for taking the time to reply and thanks
for your suggestions.

Apple Watch and handoff

2016-01-06 Thread Nancy Badger
Hi everyone,
I am trying to figure out how to use handoff. So, if I am using my watch and
reading an email, and then I want to reply to the email on my iPhone. The
tutorials say that there should be a icon for the app on your lock screen.
There is no search icon that I can detect with voiceover. Can someone please
let me know how to do this?
Thanks

Bluetooth le and handoff

2015-09-03 Thread Daniel McGee

Hi all, I was just simply wondering, how many people use handoff between there
iOS devices and what with Bluetooth le being available in the iPhone 5 which is
the phone I have, would you leave bt on with wi-fi all the time so that you can
take advantage of handoff.

I guess what I'm saying is, do you consider bt le to be such a drain on your
battery that it isn't worth the trouble just to use handoff between all your
devices. Or, do you just leave it on without a 2nd thought and don't notice any
battery drain at all.

Re: Bluetooth le and handoff

2015-09-03 Thread Daniel McGee
Hi Terry, interesting about 8.4.1 giving you better battery life. It's just
when I tried it with bt and wifi on, I felt that bt was using the battery power
that bit more. Wonder if it's because I have a 5 and not a 6 or 6 plus.

Julian unfortunately, when you sent your message, I got this: This message has
no content.. So if you could resend whatever it was to the thread, I'd be much
obliged.
Thanks

handoff

hello everyone,

I'm planning on getting an iPhone 6+ after an update to ios 8 hopefully
fixes some of the bugs.
I'd like a quick clarification of handoff. If I'm understanding it right
this feature is kinda unneeded unless you have 2 or more apple divices
right?

definitely turn it off as it will use less battery without handoff enabled.

The 4S does not support handoff just as it does not support Airdrop which

wireless chip in the new phones. Lol! Good news though is phone calls and
messages between devices work fine though.

 Hi Christopher,

The 4S does not support handoff just as it does not support Airdrop which was
introduced in iOS 7 last year. It has something to do with the capabilities
of the wireless radio and is a hardware issue.

 Subject: Handoff on iPhone 4s

 Hi all

Has anyone got Handoff working on an iPhone 4s running iOS 8? I can't even
find the feature under Settings General like I can on my iPad Mini with
 Retina
also running iOS 8. Didn't think this was a hardware specific feature so
 don't understand this at all.

 Any replies greatly appreciated. Thanks!
