Well, here is one for you. I have gotten a new phone and am still
trying to decide if I want it. I have copied all the apps and things like
that on to the new phone. Yesterday my husband noticed that the battery
level was low, so he plugged it in. Early this morning I wandered
downstairs and discovered that it was turned on and plugged in. Of course
it had tried to back up and unload all of its stuff to iCloud. Now there is
a message saying that there is not enough space in my iCloud account to back
up everything on this phone and I should go to settings to manage my
account. First of all, I didn't even want this phone to back up to iCloud
because of not knowing if I am going to keep it. Second, how do I manage
this or get that phones stuff off my iCloud account. Thirdly, until I
decide whether or not I'm keeping this phone, it shall be powered off before
charging. Can anyone solve my problem? Thanks for any help.

if you turn off backups on that phone, it won't back up either. I think it
will also ask if you want to delete the existing backup.

You can also remove backups from iCloud at any time by choosing the button

Choose the Backups button. Each device that is being backed up is listed
along with how much space it takes up. Double-tap the one you want to
delete. There's a delete Backup button on that page that will delete the
backup and stop backing up to that device.

Then, swipe over to iCloud and double tap.
Now, swipe over to iCloud backup and toggle it off.

If it asks what you want to do with the backed up info, if it offers a chance
to just leave it on the phone, do that.
I'm not sure exactly how to get stuff off your iCloud that has backed up
already.

Someone here does I'm sure, or apple accessibility.

Subject: iCloud space

Well, here is one for you. I have gotten a new phone and am still trying to
decide if I want it. I have copied all the apps and things like that on to the
new phone. Yesterday my husband noticed that the battery level was low, so he
plugged it in. Early this morning I wandered downstairs and discovered that it
was turned on and plugged in. Of course it had tried to back up and unload all
of its stuff to iCloud. Now there is a message saying that there is not enough
space in my iCloud account to back up everything on this phone and I should go
to settings to manage my account. First of all, I didn't even want this phone
to back up to iCloud because of not knowing if I am going to keep it. Second,
how do I manage this or get that phones stuff off my iCloud account. Thirdly,
until I decide whether or not I'm keeping this phone, it shall be powered off
before charging. Can anyone solve my problem? Thanks for any help.

Re: Finding out How much iCloud space each App Uses

2012-12-15 Thread James Lee

Hi Sieghard,

Thanks for the description.
I think the space indication on the usage dialog is how much space each
app uses on the iPhone, not on iCloud. I could be wrong, but I think
iCloud only syncs the documents and settings related to each app, not
actual app. I'm trying to find out how much each app actually uses to
sync on iCloud. I think it was possible on previous ios with VO.
You suggested to turn off each app and compare the backup size. However,
you can't figure it out for some of the apps in this way because they
only use so little space, as you pointed out.

Hi James,

At the top you see the storage space of your device, both what's free and
what's used.
Next you see how much is used by your apps, I believe this is in the order
of most to least, e.g. for me Music shows up first with 25.8 Gigabytes, then
Audible with 1.8 Gigabytes etc.

You see I think 10 apps listed and then Show All Apps, double tap on it
and you can swipe through all your apps.

Below that is a heading iCloud and it also shows you total storage
available, 5 Gigabyte if you haven't purchased more, then what's available
and below that a Manage Storage button.

Now here it will tell you how much space is used for Backups.
After that you will hear James' iPhone, This iPhone (assuming that is what
your iPhone is called).
Double tap on that.
Now at the top you find information about when your last backup was and how
large it was, then you find Backup Options - Choose the data you want to
back up.
Below that it announces the size of the next backup and it is followed by a
listing of some of your apps, after the last one there is once again the
Show All Apps which if you double tap it does just that.
In this list you only see if the app is on or off, i.e. if it's included
in the iCloud backup (on) or not included (off).
If you turn an app off the size of the Next Backup goes down as long as
the app you turned off had data in it. I found that apps like Skype, Light
Detector, ColorVisor and so on can be included in the backup, but turning
them off makes more or less no difference because all that is being backup
up is maybe some settings which take almost no space. Apps that make a big
difference are Camera Roll, Audible (if you have downloaded lots of books)
and so on.

Re: Finding out How much iCloud space each App Uses

2012-12-15 Thread James Lee

Hi Again,

I actually confirmed with a sighted person.
Place where you can turn on and off each app to sync, there's number
next to it indicating how much the app uses on iCloud. However, VO just
notifies if it's on or off without telling us how much it uses.

This must be a VO bug.

Finding out How much iCloud space each App Uses

2012-12-14 Thread James Lee

Hi All,

I have ios 6.01, and I'm trying to find out how much space each app uses
on iCloud backup.

I went to Settings, iCloud, Storage and Backup, Manage Storage, iPhone.
It shows total size, but it doesn't tell me how much each app uses. I
can only find out certain app like camera, not every app that's switched
on for backup. I guess I can turn off each app and check the next
backup, but that would take forever. I understand that the list has the
app that uses the most space on the top, but it'd be cool to be able to
find out exactly how much.
I vaguely remember that VoiceOver told me how much space each app uses
in previous ios. Is this bug on ios 6.01?

Thanks for help,

JL
