Certainly the sidebar is no more so will take some getting used to for those
accustomed to it. Don't think the device and library are in playlists.

Hi John,

I am not sure why you think these hot keys wouldn't be native to iTunes 12.
They do work perfectly well and in fact I miswrote earlier because I wrote
Alt+1, Aklt+2 etc. and it is of course Control+1, Control+2 and so on.
Alt+These
worked in iTunes 11 (at least most of them) and they work even better in
iTunes 12. I am also using Jaws and Richard said he is using Window Eyes so
since they work both for me and for him they can't be Jaws or Window Eyes
specific hot keys.

2014-10-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi John,

I am not sure why you think these hot keys wouldn't be native to iTunes 12.
They do work perfectly well and in fact I miswrote earlier because I wrote
Alt+1, Aklt+2 etc. and it is of course Control+1, Control+2 and so on. These
worked in iTunes 11 (at least most of them) and they work even better in
iTunes 12. I am also using Jaws and Richard said he is using Window Eyes so
since they work both for me and for him they can't be Jaws or Window Eyes
specific hot keys.

Regards,
Sieghard

RE: iTunes 12, no sidebar

2014-10-18 Thread Richard Turner
OK. I won't be posting anything I find on the Apple community forum again.
I had not looked at iTunes 12 when I search for information and some idiot
claimed that the library and such was under playlists. It didn't make
sense, but I thought it might be a reliable source. Just another example of
you can't believe everything you read, especially on the internet.

So, now that I have updated to iTunes 12, it isn't that bad, just very
different.

I am using Windows 8.1.

Here are some hot keys that might help:

control+1 = Music

Control+2 = Movies

Control+3 = TV Shows

Control+4 = Podcasts

Control+5 = iTunes U

Control+6 = Auydio Books

Control+7 = Apps

Control+8 = Tones

Control+9 = iTunes Radio

Control+j = View Options

Control+Shift+U = Show Up Next

D = Show Duplicate Items

Control+Shift+3 Show Downloads

You still have to do some tabbing around and experimenting to see what works
best for you, but you can still get to songs, artists, albums, etc.

I'm using Window-Eyes and so far, everything seems to be accessible.

Richard

I think of it this way when tabbing repeatedly, or other keystrokes.
Whatever works, works.

I'm curious. Are there keyboard shortcuts for the buttons, or do you use
tab? I don't think I would like tabbing all over the place. I know iTunes
for the Mac used to have some shortcuts for getting to music, movies, etc.,
like option f5 or some such. Barring that, I'd probably use a touchpad. But
the idea of tabbing everywhere seems very clunky to me.

I think something might change with your library. The first time I opened
iTunes after the upgrade there was a message about reorganizing the library
(actually that wasn't the wording but I don't remember) and it took quite a
while.

Really, even if you don't have to upgrade, there isn't a reason not to do it as
far as I can see. You can still do what you did before but will have to do it a
little differently. The thing is: at some point it probably will become
necessary to upgrade iTunes though there's probably no harm in waiting until
that time comes. I'm writing this from the perspective of iTunes on a mac; I
can't speak knowledgeably about iTunes on Windows.

Maybe I am misunderstanding what is being discussed here because I don't
understand why you would tab all over the place. There are still radio buttons
which you can get to perfectly fine with voiceover and arrows. Besides that,
there are shortcuts: try starting with cmd-1 and see what happens. But all they
do is check the radio buttons which you can also check with vo-space.

Hi,

If you use a Mac, don't forget about the item chooser. It may help with finding
something quickly. Also, VO+J can sometimes jump between useful parts of an
app. I haven't used iTunes much without the sidebar yet, but those are
strategies I will definitely explore when I do.

Re: iTunes 12, no sidebar

I think of it this way when tabbing repeatedly, or other keystrokes. Whatever
works, works.

I'm curious. Are there keyboard shortcuts for the buttons, or do you use tab?
I don't think I would like tabbing all over the place. I know iTunes for the
Mac used to have some shortcuts for getting to music, movies, etc., like option
f5 or some such. Barring that, I'd probably use a touchpad. But the idea of
tabbing everywhere seems very clunky to me.

2014-10-18 Thread christopher hallsworth
Press command-1 to check the music view. You should then see a group of radio
buttons like my music, match, playlists, internet radio and so on. Tones is
actually a separate view as well as apps. Apps is command-7 while tones is
command-another number, can't remember off hand. Why not explore the view menu,
including the more submenu. All key commands will be displayed there.

I wasn't aware of an iTunes 12. What are the advantages for a blind user over
