  Hi Nadia,

I had an iPhone 4 and I upgraded to IOS 7 about 4 or 5 days after it came
out. It worked well. A little slower is what I expected and that's what I got
but, all in all it was very workable. That's not even the reason why I
upgraded to the 5S. I really wanted SIRI and I did like the idea of finger
print security. Having said that, if it hadn't been for wanting SIRI, I
probably would have stayed with my iPhone 4.

Now that you have waited this long, I would wait for the first major release
which should be very soon if we go by past performance at Apple. Every time we
go through a major upgrade, there are risks of problems so I would wait because
its not far away and why do it twice at this point.

Re: ios 7.02 and iphone 4

2013-10-17 Thread Alan Paganelli
I too have an iPhone 4. IOS 7.2 is a bit slower on the 4 but nothing you can't
get use to. And, if you upgrade your phone to the 5s, it will be on that phone
anyway. If your planning on getting a new phone this year, then putting the
latest software on your iPhone 4 will give you plenty of time to learn your way
around so that when you do get a new phone, you'll already be up and running
then you can just enjoy your new phone.

Re: ios 7.02 and iphone 4

2013-10-17 Thread Tom Lange
Hi Nadia,
I tend to be fairly conservative when it comes to whether or not to mess around
with the latest OS updates and so on, but I really got curious about IOS 7 and
figured that I had nothing to lose by downloading and installing it on my
iPhone 4 since I was going to upgrade to a 5S within a couple of weeks anyway.
If it turned out to be a disaster I was going to march right down to the AT&T
store earlier than planned. Well, the IOS upgrade went off without a hitch and
I didn't notice a radical decrease in performance that some people predicted.
Mileage, of course, may vary. If you decide to go for the IOS upgrade, you'd
be well advised to check the list archive for the recent article regarding what
to do to optimize performance for older devices. If you can't find it, drop me
a line off list and I'll be glad to send it to you.

Take care.

Tom

Sorry if you do not agree with this but i wouldn't bother installing iOS
7 on an iPhone 4 unless you are prepared for some sluggishness. It works
much better on an iPhone 4s or later. Basically any device with an A5
chip or faster will run iOS 7 much better. The iPhone 4 only has an A4
chip so of course all the visuals etc will degrade performance. Stick
with iOS 6 if you can. Just my £0.02 worth.
