RE: aftershokz headphones

2016-04-04 Thread Cristóbal
There’s not much that can probably be done about that. It’s just a crappy
microphone that’s included in the headset. Indeed, I don’t even bother trying
to use my Bluez II to make or receive phone calls. Not that the mic doesn’t
work at all, but I find it too unreliable to depend on consistently.

Juan,

Indeed the Aftershokz headsets are all behind the head. I have had the wired
model the Bluiz 2 and now the Treks and they all worked well for me but, for
sure, the Treks is the lightest and the most comfortable. Having the band at
the back is not a problem for me. In fact, in the winter in Canada, the
Aftershokz works much better because there is no band going over your head to
interfere with a hat. Over the head Headsets can be very uncomfortable when
wearing them with a hat. I use my Treks all the time with my Trekker GPS and I

I was on the aftershokz website with my friend and she was telling me that all

RE: aftershokz headphones

2016-04-02 Thread Cristóbal
I'm a 7 and 3/8 hat size and while I like the concept of bone conduction, I
too find the Bluez II uncomfortable after a while.
I'm tempted to try the new Trecks model Aftershokz is selling, but don’t'
feel like dropping $130.00 to discover the same discomfort. It's really too
bad, I like to use them to give my ears a rest from the typical over the ear
headphones and especially when on the stationary bike or ellyptical, etc.
I wonder if anyone else on the big noggen side can chime in as to any
difference in fit and comfort with the Trecks.

I'm glad they work for you, they simply do not work for me.

I have a "large" head, according to my hats, and I don't have a problem

Re: aftershokz headphones

2016-03-30 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Also, since they use bone conduction, I'd think this would be a lot
easier to engineer going around the back of your head as opposed to just
over your head. I suppose you could have an over the head design, but
you'd need something to place the noise conductors on the back of the
cheek bone and apply some amount of pressure.

The bluetooth antennae in the Aftershockz Bluez is on the left side of
the headset, so if you place your phone on the left side of your body
then that might help. Note that the Bluez 2 is redesigned, and this
isn't supposed to be as much of an issue.

2013-08-29 Thread Sandra Heaton

Lisa,

Thank you for your reply. Its just as I thought. I just thought I would
just ask the question anyway.

I think you are right in saying that about Bluetooth I would agree with you.

I don't think I would want to mess about with two headsets well not at the
same time anyway. So I guess I will just stick with my purchase and just
use it for my trekker breeze. I won't go anywhere without it at the moment,
I am having to use a long cane at the moment as I am still waiting for a new
guide dog. Heaven knows when that is likely to be.

sorry I know I have gone off track just a little.

But thanks for your input.

Sandra, as far as I know, the Trekker Breeze doesn't have the capability
to send/receive any kind of Bluetooth signal unless you're talking about
the older version that ran on a PDA, and in that case, I have no clue if
the Aftershokx would work. I know you couldn't hear your phone and the
Breeze at the same time unless you could pair them both and switch between
them seamlessly, and let's face it, Bluetooth isn't that reliable enough
of the time, at least not for me.

You could use the wired version of the Aftershokz with your Breeze because
they use a regular stereo headphone jack so fit into the breeze where the
external speaker would go.

Then you could use another Bluetooth headset with your phone along with
your Aftershokx. You'd have to deal with two different headsets, though
because I don't think you'd like having to wear both the Aftershokx
Bluetooth headset and the wired Aftershokx headset because they both fit
the same way, which is why I'd suggest a single earhook Bluetooth speaker
for the phone portion of the set up.

I have a Breeze and I use it still even with my iPhone because of the same
issues. I can use the Bluetooth headset, but then I need to be listening
for two different audio sources in addition to my surroundings, so I feel
a bit limited as to when and where I can use them both safely.

2013-01-05 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
There are 2 Aftershokz headphones with mic, the older AS301 and the newer
M2. You can read up about them on Amazon, I am not entirely sure what
improvements they made with the M2. But at least you can ask somebody which
one you have and then find out more about it, probably best to look it up on
the Aftershokz website directly.

Those of you who have used the aftershokz, have you noticed that other
people can hear the other half of your phone conversations or music,
even when at a reasonably low volume? I read several complaints of
that in amazon reviews.

It has a small usb adapter type plug and on the other end is a place to plug
in headset.
You plug it into the computer to charge.
I haven't had to charge yet.

I think if you forget to turn off they turn themselves off after a certain
amount of time.
I was using it to test the other day while working and when I went to check
time on my phone it was silent.
I turned them back on and it worked.

so would say they went to sleep or turned off.

The piece for charging was small and you could have missed it in the

I almost did.

Re: Aftershokz Headphones with mic

2012-07-08 Thread Laura ann Grymes, LMT
It has a small usb adapter type plug and on the other end is a place to plug in
headset.

The piece for charging was small and you could have missed it in the packaging.
I almost did.
Hope this helps?

I don't know how long it takes to charge. I don't think I ever let mine
fully run down. Right out of the box mine had a charge, but I charged them
for an hour. I must have gotten 5 to 8 hours out of them without problem
over several days, before I recharged them. I haven't had them all that
long, though, to give you a much more informed insight. Good luck.

Also, how long can you get from a full charge? I must have not hit the

Yes, there's a big jack to a smaller plug adapter thing that plugs into the
USB dongle, then you plug the whole thing into a USB port. I'm not sure if
that little extension thing is needed, or if you can just take the audio
plug and plug it right into the dongle, but they charge through the same
connection that would normally feed sound in.

Exactly that, the aftershox are *bone conduction* headphones, they sit just
in front of your ears. They're good, as far as they go, and they supposedly
have a lifetime warranty, which I'm going to have to test. I purchased a
set of these, used them for an hour one day, and loved them. I put them
back in a drawer, and pulled them out later, and I can only use them for a
few seconds, before they turn off.I bought mine off ebay, but I'm trying to
find the warranty information.

RE: Aftershokz Headphones with mic

2012-07-08 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
That sounds like it. Without it in front of me, I can't explain it.
Certainly, the USB prong goes into the computer. I think you just plug
the headphone plug into the other end of that part. I don't think it
took longer than an hour when I did it to get a good charge.

Ok, let me describe what I have. In the box, were the headphones, a
nice
bag to put them in, and upon further looking, there is a USB dongle
looking
thing, with one miniplug, which I thought was an adapter, that you could
put
into your computer, kind of like those mic/headphone adapters you can
use
with your computer. Is that how you recharge the battery? And, how long
does
it take to fully charge them? If that's what they are, I feel really
stupid! LOL! Oh well, it won't be the first time.

2012-07-08 Thread Brent Harding
Yes, there's a big jack to a smaller plug adapter thing that plugs into the
USB dongle, then you plug the whole thing into a USB port. I'm not sure if
that little extension thing is needed, or if you can just take the audio
plug and plug it right into the dongle, but they charge through the same
connection that would normally feed sound in.

RE: Aftershokz Headphones with mic

2012-07-08 Thread Jessica Brown
Can you get some that plug in to your phone and don't take
batteries?

- Original Message -
From: "Gail the U. S. Male" I never thought about that possibility! I knew they had that
nice clip,
with the control buttons on them, but didn't realize they also
had
batteries. The place I bought them from was an ebay store, and
said they
were new. I would have thought the battery would last longer
than that.

Unless I didn't realize I had to turn them off, and they ran out.

Exactly that, the aftershox are *bone conduction* headphones,
they sit just
in front of your ears. They're good, as far as they go, and they
supposedly
have a lifetime warranty, which I'm going to have to test. I
purchased a
set of these, used them for an hour one day, and loved them. I
put them
back in a drawer, and pulled them out later, and I can only use
them for a
few seconds, before they turn off.I bought mine off ebay, but I'm
trying to

find the warranty information.

- Original Message -
From: "Brent Harding" used them a lot on phone calls, but they work good, considering
they don't
block your ears. I hope that Sendero app comes out soon that will
give us
all the features on GPS the regular apps don't do. I heard using
these
things with something like a Kapten Plus could be hard, as that
not only
uses the smaller plug, but has something else in it to trigger
the mic for

voice recognition.

- Original Message -
From: "Laura ann Grymes, LMT" I am using it to hear the time and have my phone be silent while
I am

working.
I am planning to try the one that also works with the phone to
answer

calls.

The reviews on amazon.com mentioned some static with that one so
was trying

the sport headset first.

So far in the couple weeks I have had the headphones, I like
then a lot and

like that I can hear what is going on around me.

I'm not at home to describe this better, but with my headphones there
was included a small accessory that plugs into the in-line control box,
and the other into your computers USB for charging. The in-line switch
does power on/off, as well as control inline volume.

Interesting, what do you mean they don't block your ears?

- Original Message -
From: "Brent Harding" I got the ones with the mic, and I never heard static with them.
I haven't
used them a lot on phone calls, but they work good, considering
they don't
block your ears. I hope that Sendero app comes out soon that will
give us
all the features on GPS the regular apps don't do. I heard using
these
things with something like a Kapten Plus could be hard, as that
not only
uses the smaller plug, but has something else in it to trigger
the mic for

voice recognition.

- Original Message -
From: "Laura ann Grymes, LMT" I am using it to hear the time and have my phone be silent while
I am

working.
I am planning to try the one that also works with the phone to
answer

calls.

The reviews on amazon.com mentioned some static with that one so
was

trying the sport headset first.

So far in the couple weeks I have had the headphones, I like
then a lot

and like that I can hear what is going on around me.

That sounds great and I am going to get the ones with the mic.
Will use the ones I now have for exercise or just when I need headphones.

Really cool technology.
Love I can hear what is going on around me and hear music, voice over or
whatever is in the headphones at the same time.
Very very interesting technology.
I got them after listening to the Serotalk podcast review on the headphones.
