Read the WAMUG archive, you are likely not to have the virus.

I just got an email from somebody I dont know saying I had sent them an
email with the klez virus. I tried using Virex but it found nothing.

Adjusting connect speed

I know I've done this before but I can't find now how I change my maximum
connect speed to the internet.

I'm using an iMac (graphite SE) with internal 56K modem, with OS 9.1.

Any clues please?

Thanks Peter, I had considered some of these but the problem starts as soon
as the computer is turned on apparently so you can't even get in to check
settings. We think we may have isolated it to faulty keyboard so will try a
replacement & hopefully it's as simple as that.

You can even uncheck the 'merican flag in the control panel to avoid it being
changed and get back a little menu bar real estate in the deal;-)

Installing OS 9.1 on 14.1 iBook?

Hi all

I've tried the Apple Knowledge Base for info on this but no luck.

I can't get my 14.1 iBook to boot from a 9.1 system disk and if I try to run
the 9.1 installer it says "This program cannot run on this computer etc."

I assume this is a firmware issue ie: the minimum system for the 14.1 iBook
is 9.2 ?

Is it possible to "downdate" the firmware to get 9.1 to run on the iBook,
or is this just asking for trouble ?

I'm currently running 9.2.2 but it's giving me some problems and anecdotal
evidence seems to indicate that a number of people find 9.1 more stable than
9.2.2I'd like to test that theory...

Hi Rob (and others)

I know you have probably checked this, but the keyboard layout is on the
correct setting, i.e. the little Australian flag. I just remember someone
had the same problem and the keyboard settings was for German.

(In 9:- Control Panels/Keyboard -Scroll through the list to make sure just
the Aussie flag is selected.)
(In 10:- System Preferences/International/Keyboard Menu Tab)

Some times we look for the harder solutions and skip over the easy ones! :o)

No such Mac virus (AFAIK). More likely an extension conflict or some 
USB/application weirdness.


Viruses on the Mac are usually way down the list of likely suspects 
for such things.
