Re: Creating SVCD with Toast 6

2005-01-10 Thread wyvern

Hi Paul,

Is the lag while moving to toast or in the finished disc?

When i was using toast 6 loading the movie direct from camera I noticed
that the sound track appeared to get out of sync while it was copying
into toast .. by the end of the 40 minutes it was almost a minute
behind [ I could hear the puter and camera plays] but when it produced
the final DVD the sound was spot on.

I've been able to burn using Toast 5 but I don't own a legit copy of

I've been able to create the SVCD (and it works!) using MMT-EZ (Thanks
Peter Hinchcliffe to your excellent demo of this at one of last year's
meetings), but this doesn't do things like menus.

I've emailed Roxio support, but their responses to date are a bit of a
non-answer.

Has anyone else tried to burn VCD's/SVCD's using Toast 6? All help
greatly appreciated.

That sounds like Disk Doubler from memory. I did have it - I'll check to
see if I can find it (may take some time) but who knows if it will work
under OS 9 or Classic - I think it was built for OS 8 and is certainly not
going to work under OS X.

Yes and I didnt have too much success.

VCD Builder has been slightly easier, it ultimately uses Toast to burn
the job anyway.

It look like you should be able to open the file/s with Stuffit Expander.

It looks as if Stuffit expander may do the job:

Disk Doubler (Mac) format. Decompressed by DDExpand, DiskDoubler and
Stuffit Expander 5.5.

According to this page:

Might be worth trying with Stuffit in Classic mode.

Text from pages would usually be pasted in as styled text. If the
font's different, or there's bold or italic text, then it's styled.

Some e-mail clients offer you the option of stripping styles before
sending the mail.

Speeding up Safari

Hi People,

http://apple.weblogsinc.com/entry/6324433776608533/

Open Safari’s preferences file at ~/Library - Preferences -
com.apple.Safari.plist in a text editor and add these two lines
somewhere inside the dict tag:

    keyWebKitInitialTimedLayoutDelay/key
     real0.25/real
The default value is 1.0. Lowering the value will decrease the time
Safari waits to render. Some side effects may be flashing page content
as it loads, but it definitely feels faster.

This might be a better option.
