Help! me convert my friends into buyin Apple

2005-03-10 Thread Bart Raffaele
Hi all

At the moment I'm trying to convert some of my friend into buying a iMac G5
in a couple weeks.. Instead of a Windows PCDell model

The specs for the G5 iMac is
1gig of ram
160 HD
Super Drive.
And the Total price from the Apple Store came to $2,927 and I did do a Dell
comparison and of course the Dell was cheaper by $800 or so.

Is there anyone on the List who works at a Apple reseller store do a better
deal than Apple Store online.
My friends do like the iMac G5 but price may even turn them to the dark
side..

I pretty much explain why Mac's are better PC's..so I have got them on
that..

I would hate to keep going to there place to fix teeving problems with a
Windows PC, and say I told you so.

Thanks

Bart

Re: MYOB not printing...

2005-03-10 Thread Alex Novakovic

Hi...

Does anyone know how to fix the following problem?

MYOB thinks it's printed an invoice, but nothing appears in the
print queue, or actually prints.

I tried killing and re-creating the printer, but to no avail. It's a
networked HP laser printer, which otherwise works fine...

Thanks,
Shay

Hi Shay

You can print by opening the invoice to the screen and then hitting
the print button. That doesn't answer your question though. In
relation to the print queue, when you click on Print Invoices and you
get the dialogue box, you have to untick the Unprinted or Unsent
Sales Only option and then tick the option that you want (a date
range or invoice number range) and enter the info required. Please
excuse me for stating the obvious above, but you did not mention
whether the invoices had ever been printed initially.

If they have never been printed before, but they have been recorded,
then I would guess that the little box near the bottom left of the
invoicing screen which states Already Sent or Printed has been ticked
previously and has remained so evermore. These tick boxes are the
tricky ones as they often go un-noticed and if someone uses them they
remain as last ticked/unticked.

Let me know if this was still not the solution.

RE: Merv:
On my baby MYOB (First Edge) I had a similar problem and found that
one of linked accounts was 'unlinked'.

Merv

This doesn't sound logical to me - unless you are talking about a
Preference. I wouldn't mind knowing a bit more about this one.

FREE TIP for the night!

I would encourage everyone to tick the 3rd box under
Preferences/Reports & Forms called Always Display Report
Customisation Option Before Printing Reports. That way when you
select a report it forces you to look at the options available and
hopefully you get what you want.

Otherwise you have to consciously click on the Customisation button
and we know what happens under pressure and rushing - we choose the
report and click display and get the default which is usually the
current month or whatever. If you don't notice, you are using the
wrong info.

Also in the latest versions, the report dialogue boxes have more tabs
where previously all the options were in one box. Be aware of this
as there are important options available in the other tabs.

Cheers, Alex

Perhaps you might want to see of the PC versions of these cards come

Toast Problem

2005-03-10 Thread Phil Goodall-Smith
Thanks to all who responded to my problem... I have since tried the
same discs on two of my laptops using the same programs and the DVD's
burnt perfectly ...

I have used the TDK DVD-R's without a problem for some time on the
machine that is now giving me the problem but the suggestion from most
is that I try a different make of blank DVD on this machine... This I
shall try as soon as I can get in an buy an alternative and try out...

Thanks again for all of your responses,

Phil

Network active

2005-03-10 Thread Jude

Hi all

Does anyone have any idea why my network would sometimes be showing
as mounted, even though I don't have a network set up?

I noticed that when I did permissions repair that the directory
./private/var/at/jobs and ./private/var/at/spool have been changed,
and a search of recent changes shows a lot of activity in the
invisible 'private' area as well as some stuff like davlocks being
run.

Also, what is an AECore-pipedmessage?

cheers
Jude

Re: Need help

2005-03-10 Thread Vladimir James
Kevin,

From the depths of Apple's archives:

1. Start with desktop printing disabled (this is important). You can
disable desktop printing using the Extensions Manager control panel.
 2. Drag all desktop printer icons from the desktop to the Trash.
 3. Drag the printing prefs folder (located inside the Preferences
folder, which is inside the System folder) to the Trash.
Note: If necessary, save your watermark files before deleting the
printing prefs folder, or re-install the watermark files after
troubleshooting is complete.
 4. Drag the PrintMonitor documents folder (in System folder) to the Trash.
 5. Add 100 Kilobytes (100K) to minimum and preferred memory sizes of the
Desktop PrintMonitor application (in Extensions Disabled folder) by
selecting the application and Choosing Get Info from the File menu.
 6. Re-enable desktop printing extensions using the Extensions Manager
control panel.
 7. Restart and rebuild the Desktop file by pressing the Apple and Option
keys down until a few seconds after the rebuild is complete.
