You can achieve the networking/sharing requirements very cheaply and easily
by getting an 8 port switch/hub. Won't give the wireless or ADSL 2/2+
compliance though.

Plus, you will need a port to plug in your VoIP adapter

Music lovers like you in 21 countries around the globe have purchased
nearly one billion songs from the iTunes Music Store. And as we count

every 100,000th song will receive a prize package featuring a black
4GB iPod nano and a $100 iTunes Music Card (good for any media type).

And if you're the lucky grand-prize winner who downloads the
billionth song from the iTunes Music Store, you'll receive a 20-inch

Hi Callum,

I'm not sure what experiences people have had with Belkin, but you may want
to have a look at this product. It meets all your requirements and has at
least a 5 year warranty. (The web page also says lifetime warranty, but I
guess 5 years is a lifetime in IT?). Here's the link:

RE: download podcasts

2006-02-07 Thread Hugh Griffiths
Thanks, but it doesnt have the earlier episodes, they seem to hide them so that
you can only get to the m4a file which wont download as a podcast, perhaps I
didnt make my email clear enough,

The "official" site for the podcast ( as detailed in your email) only has the
lates five episodes shown. I want to get the earlier ones, I am missing 2, 3
and 4.

I have fiddled aroudn by typing in guesses for the podcasts and found that some
of the links work but wont download as a podcast, they will only play live
through itunes.

Can someone help me to save eithger the mp3 or m4a version of these episodes to
disk so I can listen on my ipod.

ADSL Modems

2006-02-07 Thread Callum Prior

Howdy,

I'm looking at upgrading my D-Link DSL 300 Modem and was hoping for
some advice.

What I need to do:

*Network to / share the ADSL from my Mac with my housemate's Windows PC
*Be able to network our Xboxes for our HALO nights (at least four
ethernet ports)
*Have wireless capacity for guests, or that MacBook Pro I have my
eyes on.

*Be ADSL 2 & 2+ compatible

The wireless is optional, but would be really cool.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Callum

2006-02-07 Thread ken

Hey folks,
my IPod (30 Gig, 1 month old will not appear in I Tunes now, was
before, When I connect it the screen says an update is available, when
I enter the password it says

"The iPod could not be unmounted because it is in use. Please close any
open files on the iPod and try again."

The IPod is not on, just connected to the G4 via the usual lead.

On the Ipod it tells me videos are in the VIDEO folder but when I play
them they are audio files?!

Is there a procedure for connection that I'm not aware of?

Weird... any ideas?

Hi Rob,

I really wish I could help. I love your use of pod-casting for your
students. We really are standing at the beginning of a new era where
anyone can share what the produce in an easily accessible way.

Unfortunately the subscribe link does not seem to work in itunes for me
either. Had a nice time after following the listen link though.

I am not on a windows network.

I tried copying your link and using the advanced/subscribe to podcast
method and that didn't work either.

I know this information might not help you much but I wanted to offer
my encouragement in the hope that you will persist in your worthwhile
pod-casting endeavors.

Cheers
Paul

PS: My current favorite podcast is Rocket-boom. I would be interested
to know if there are any other fans out there and what other podcasts
are being listened to by wamuggers.

download podcasts

2006-02-07 Thread Hugh Griffiths

Hi, I have just discovered the insanely funny Ricky Gervais podcasts and
have been trying to get hold of episodes one to four ( I only have five
onwards), after much googling imanaged to get a copy of episode 1, but
it's a mp3 not a m4a and so it wont work exactly the same as a podcast (
although I can listen to it on my ipod)

My question is after a bit of fiddling around I have discovered that
although there are no links to the earlier episodes, the files still
exist, in other words if I just type in
http://podcast.rickygervais.com/26decepisode4.m4a as a URL stream in
itunes I can play it, but I cant save it and then listen to it as a
podcast, same with the http://podcast.rickygervais.com/26decepisode4.mp3
version.

Any ideas how to get this to work as a real podcast?

Hugh

Is "20/12" a reference to her eyesight? I guess she's turned on the
Zoom feature, which means you should find that your screen contents
are larger than normal and do not fit within your screen's physical
display area (which is why the contents have to move when you move the
mouse). You can turn Zoom off by going into System Preferences >
