Actually there's a good question here (as I'll be ordering tomorrow).

The question : Is the performance hit with the 4500rpm 200Gb drive
worth bearing with as opposed to getting 160Gb at a faster rate?

I've got a 160Gb in my old 17" but half my ram died at the same time
so I was unable to see how much faster it was. (And it was a
motherboard problem so I just had to limp along with 512Mb ram). I'm
tired of painfully slow performance in a laptop (unless you're doing
video work with an external hard drive using FW800).

Of course the 160Gb is almost full :-)

And as I'd hoped, the 15" now has a dual-layer 6x DVD burner and a Firewire
800 port. Shame it still doesn't have the magnetic front latch of it's
little brother though.
It's also a pity the 200GB disk is only 4200rpm. Oh well, we're slowly
getting there. :-)

(what am I complaining about? Compared to the "mother of all thermal
challenges" of shoe-horning a G5 into a laptop, the current pace of
development is a different world to the ole G4 stagnation. :-)

Wondered when that was happening. Thought it wouldn't be too far away.

Now, all I have to do is sell my MacBook Pro.
Anyone interested in a MacBook Pro 2Ghz model with 2GB RAM. Still under
warranty? ;O)

We had speaker feedback too, on calls to Sydney, we found that the
speakers (at both ends?) could be tuned down slightly to stop the feedback.
I was impressed by how well Skype handled this particular issue.
It may help if there is not line-of-sight between speaker and mic as
this makes it much worse I think.
Headsets are the ultimate but they don't beat just sitting back and
chatting.

Have fun

Do these 3 copies appear in the VPC List? If so, sounds like you have 1
copy of VPC installed but 3 virtual PCs and probably 3 VPC hard disk files.
I just checked out what you can do in my copy of VPC 7 - shutdown the PCs
you want to remove (leaving VPC running), select them in the VPC list and,
from the file menu, choose "Move to Trash". This should remove the VPCs you
don't want. Just make sure you don't have any data on them that you want to
keep.

Runtime Revolution question

2006-10-24 Thread Rod Kevill
Anyone out there using Runtime Revolution Studio? (v2.7.4 on Mac OS 10.4.7)

I¹m having a problem figuring out how to format columns in a Table field
object specifically decimal places and right justification. There is
nothing in the user documentation apart from:

³4.2.23 Table Field Control for displaying a table
Table fields allow you to display data in cells, and optionally allow the
user to edit the cells.²

I¹m particularly confused by the odd notation used when adding formats to a
table object: eg attempting to format columns 1 to 5, the notation
³1,1:5,71² appears in the next field. Does that mean from col 1, row 1 to
col 5, row 71?

And I¹m not sure what goes in the ³with² field when any of the pull-down
formats are selected. If I choose ³Decimal² from the ³using² pull-down menu
and type ³2² in the ³with² field, then ³Add², the text ³Decimal:2² appears
in the right hand column, but it appears to have no effect on any data
placed in that column in the table field.

Any suggestions appreciated...

Thanks,
Rod
