Here is another possible solution by installing Office 2008 12.0.1
update.

You may of course already have installed the update.

I have has some strange behaviour with thumb drives.
I have deleted all files from the thumb drive.
Then copied new image files to the thumb drive.
Then shot down the road to get the prints made.
I have finished up with the new prints and prints of the deleted files

Re: Photoshop action to simulate 'Glow' in Photobooth

2008-04-01 Thread Kyle Kreusch
Hi Denise

The easiest way would be to do any Photoshop work the images require
first in Photoshop Then use the application Core Image Fun House
Which is part of the Apple Developer Tools

Then open the image with the Core Image Fun House Application

Then you will need to add the following effects to make the
'Photobooth - GLOW effect

(To add an effect click the + button)

1. Gloom
2. Color Controls
3. Bloom

Then use the Slider's to get the desired effect

office 2004 2008 problem

2008-04-01 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi Guys Ladies

I have just come across a problem which I can't resolve as of yet!!!

I have 4 macs, 2 running office 2004 and 2 office 2008 all on 10.4.11, one other
mac there is fine!

Last Friday word stopped launching on then all! all the other office components
still work fine! They have told me nothing had changed on their systems no
updates and no font changes.

I have deleted all the prefs and anything to do with Word I can find but with no
joy. I have done a uninstall of office and installed 2008 on 2 of them again
word will not start. Logged in as admin and the same thing happens.

Deleted all the cashes, deactivated all fonts except those required by office,
made sure nothing else is running! repaired permissions and any thing else I
could think off.

Does anyone have any other ideas please??

These Macs are in Kalgoorlie so a little hard to trouble shoot.

Best regards

Roger

Re: office 2004 2008 problem

2008-04-01 Thread David Watkins

Roger

This can be caused by having a single licence for Office 2008 and
installing the programs on more than one computer. If your computers
are networked together Office will detect hat the program is
installed on more than one computer and you will normally get a
message similar to Your installation is exceeds the number of
installations permitted etc etc

It does appear however that you can still run Word on the computer
which the error message appeared as long as you close down the program
on the other computers.

The above of course may not be the reason why you are having problems
as it may be something entirely different in your case but I am
mentioning it so people are aware of what can happen.

Have a Good Day!

When Word crashes does it bring up an error message?
Also check Console (Applications/Utilities) and under the Logs, it should
give a bit more of a detail reported as to why it's crashing.
That may help as well.

Hello Roger,

Remove and then reinstall the program.

To do this, follow these steps:
A).Run the Remove Office utility in the Additional Tools:Remove Office
folder on the Office for Mac CD.

B).Select only Microsoft Office 2004 or Microsoft Office 2008 from the
Results list.

C).Empty the Trash.

Note If you receive any error messages when you empty the Trash,
repeat this step until you no longer receive any error messages.

D).Restart the computer.

E).Perform a drag-and-drop installation of Office for Mac.

1.Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive. If you
are installing Office v. X from a network volume, connect to that

2.Click to select the Microsoft Office X folder, and then drag it to a
location on your hard disk (for example, the Applications folder).
After you drop the Microsoft Office X folder onto the hard disk, the

Re: office 2004 2008 problem

2008-04-01 Thread Neil Houghton
Hi Roger,

This is a very vague memory, from the mists of time! - It therefore may have
no relevance at all to you!!

I seem to remember having an unexplained problem with an earlier version of
word which I eventually tracked down to the normal template which had
somehow become corrupted.

I got rid of the normal template and word was then fine - it recreated a new
default normal template and was fine from then on.

Of course, if you have modified your normal template you will lose those
changes - but I'm expecting that would be a much lesser inconvenience :)

If you save the normal template elsewhere (I'd go for a removable thumbdrive
or similar so MS can't go looking - but that's just me!) you can replace it
if it turns out not to be the problem.

As I say, I don't really remember all the details from when I had the
problem - but it may be worth a try!

You have removed all the obvious files that can be seen !
Sometimes a damaged file can be on your hard drive and INVISIBLE .
It can be a duplicate of a normal working file .

There are a few applications that can make Invisible files visible .
BBedit comes to mind ,
http://www.barebones.com/

also Invisibles !
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/14722

Typically they make ALL invisible files visible , so you would have to
troll through

that massive list looking for a clue .

To help the inspection Usually you can list them by date or name or
path .

Three Macs means that possibly the same corrupted file has found it's
way on to

all 3 hard drives .

Good luck

Bob

I have created a new user also but still the same issue, I am at a
bit of a loss at the moment. 1 machine well it happens sometimes
but having 4 with the same problem and with different versions it is
a little strange.

Hello Roger,

Remove and then reinstall the program.

To do this, follow these steps:
A).Run the Remove Office utility in the Additional Tools:Remove
Office folder on the Office for Mac CD.

B).Select only Microsoft Office 2004 or Microsoft Office 2008 from
the Results list.

C).Empty the Trash.

Note If you receive any error messages when you empty the Trash,
repeat this step until you no longer receive any error messages.

D).Restart the computer.

E).Perform a drag-and-drop installation of Office for Mac.

To Install All Components - The Drag-and-Drop Method

1.Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive. If you
are installing Office v. X from a network volume, connect to that
volume.

2.Click to select the Microsoft Office X folder, and then drag it
to a location on your hard disk (for example, the Applications
folder). After you drop the Microsoft Office X folder onto the hard
disk, the Office v. X files are copied to the installation location.

3.On your hard disk, double-click an Office program file, such as
Microsoft Word.

4.Follow the instructions in the Microsoft Office Setup Assistant
to finish Setup.

Cheers,
Ronni

I have created new users so the problem can't be in the user
directory I believe

but in the main system but as to where??

Or perhaps Microsoft have expired word : ))

Hi Roger

(Thanks for the reply off list. Just keeping this on list, so
others can

follow, and someone may have extra ideas well.)

Had a Google search for Word crashing errors, and found this,
which might be

of help.
I could be a conflict with something else left behind of a
previous version,

or it's bringing up a file that is corrupt on each start.
But more so, perhaps something in a folder conflicting amount the
Word

versions.
There are a lot of different preference files and folders with
Office, so

you have to make sure to delete or remove them all.

Have a look at the following links, as this may help

Thanks.

Re: WTB Photoshop

2008-04-01 Thread Andrew Canion
Hi Kevin,

I don't have a copy, but Photoshop 7 will have to run under Rosetta on
an Intel Mac, which may result in it being very slow. CS3 was the
first Universal binary optimised for the Intel chips.

Andrew

I've run it on an Intel Mac, didn't actually notice that it was running
slower because Rosetta is utterly seamless.
