Hello Lloyd,

Perhaps if you delete your Front Row preferences. You can find the
file in this path:

com.apple.frontrow.plist

Put it in the Trash, log out and log back in to see if the issue is
resolved.

If that doesn't fix your problem and the Movies you mention were in
iTunes, you could try running this Applescripts 'Super Remove Dead
Tracks'.
Surveys iTunes for tracks whose files are no longer available (as
indicated by a "!" next to their names) and removes them.

Any playlists that subsequently contain no tracks will then be
deleted.

Signatures in Mail

2008-05-28 Thread Severin Crisp
I operate several mail accounts and have a corresponding set of
signatures. Several of these include logo graphics and web and email
addresses as active links. Many recipients seem to have difficulty
with these signatures (all Windows users I am sure, though I send
"Windows Friendly" attachments as a routine thing).
The extreme example was this morning, with the West Australian, where
I explicitly referred to an ABN and phone number in the signature
"below". This elicited a phone call telling me that there was nothing
at all below! I am not sure whether this is Windows or some
corporate security measure. Word .doc and Photoshop .jpg attachments
went through perfectly on the same email but of course they were
explicit "attachments".
I am considering removing the logo graphics from these signatures but
wonder if this is really the problem.
Any words of wisdom from out there would be much appreciated in
sorting this issue.

iPhone compatibility with Outlook contacts ?

2008-05-28 Thread Steven
I've traditionally used a Blackberry for work purposes, which has been
nicely compatible with my MS Outlook contact database, especially in terms
of synchronisation over Blackberry Enterprise Server.

However I've resigned from my current role and will be handing back my
BlackBerry. I've traditionally maintained my contacts in MS Outlook on my
employer's computer (which have always been PCs). I'll be extracting a .pst
file to take with me. For my next venture, I'll probably be using my MacBook
Pro as my main working computer, and for a phone I thought I'd go the iPhone
route, especially in anticipation of a 3G version come 9 June.

I could retain use of Outlook for my contacts by installing Windows on my
MacBook Pro, but how compatible, if at all, is the iPhone with Outlook? Or
are they totally incompatible? Is it possible to set up the iPhone such that
it would synchronise with Outlook on my Mac?

Cheers, Steven

Hi Peter

Has the others have mentioned, this is a new format that Microsoft use with
their new versions of Office. (Office 2007 for Windows, Office 2008 for
Mac).
The new version of Office 2008 sells for $229 for the Mac (Home and Teacher
Edition, which also has 3 serial numbers so you can install on different
computers in the same location.)

For others who haven't upgraded then they have the "assistant" to help take
these file formats back to the older ones.

It's called Office Open XML File Format Converter and you can download it
from Microsoft's website for free. It's available here:-

>From Microsoft's website:-
" Microsoft Office Open XML File Format Converter for Mac 0.2.1 (Beta)
This version of the converter extends the expiration date for this beta
release.

This version of the converter can convert the following Open XML file
formats:
Word Document (*.docx)
Word Macro-Enabled Document (*.docm)
PowerPoint Presentation (*.pptx)
PowerPoint Show (*.ppsx)
PowerPoint Template (*.potx)
The converter is a Beta release, and might be unable to convert all the data
in Open XML files. After you convert a file, you should review the file
carefully to make sure that it contains all of the information that you
expect. For a complete list of known issues, install and open the converter,
and then on the Help menu, click Office Converter Help.

This Beta release expires on December 31, 2008."

Hope that helps.

Kind regards
Daniel

Re: Documents

2008-05-28 Thread Dark1
It's a relatively new format that microsoft word uses and isn't
compatible with older versions of word regardless of whether your on a
pc or a mac.

I found a program that could convert them for Mac once (can't remember
what it is but you could try version tracker). It was a demo that
would put a big label across your document asking you to buy the
product so it won't work for anything that needs to be printed but you
can at least see some of what your after.

Download DotMac Alias Email Address

2008-05-28 Thread Jane Griffiths
Hi

How do I get only the emails with my .Mac alias address into the Mail app?

I have Mail on my MBPro setup to pick up my .Mac email. It downloads both my
main .Mac email address messages and my .Mac alias email address messages.
What I want to be able to do is (on another Mac) have Mail only pick up the
messages that have my .Mac alias email address and not the emails with the main
.Mac email address.

I have looked at the forwarding options in .Mac Mail>Preferences>Other, but it
appears to only allow for all the .Mac mail to be forwarded to a POP account.

I hope the question makes sense!

Regards
Jane
