Anyone have a dead G5 Tower Mac they might want to part with?

2008-06-26 Thread Mark Secker
A few months ago I managed to drop my G5 tower when moving it and
damaged the case ... just an aesthetic thing - the mac still runs
fine - but kind of getting sick of staring at the sorry looking bent
and broken thing on my desk

I notice old G5 tower cases sell on eBay for around $200 to $250'ish
with shipping to perth so thought I'd see if any one on WAMUG might
have a dead G5 tower they might want to part with somewhere around
that (or less)

Hi...

If I understand correctly that effectively leaves all your phones
behind two filters, which may affect the impedance characteristics of
the line as seen from outside the first filter (ie where your ADSL
router presumably sits). Thus why things might work better when
you've only got the hardwired filter in place.

Have fun,

Hi Rosemary !

As a retired Telstra Tech with 43 years experience I have seen
plenty of places

where things were not what they should have been .
So I had to ask the question !

At this stage with your problem ... one phone unplugged which may be
causing problems ...

I want to suggest to you that having additional filters after the
Hard Wired filter may in itself

under some circumstances cause a problem .

The one good quality filter is all that is needed . There have been
occasions where a filter has been found faulty .

And not all filters are necessarily of the best quality .

Recently I rearranged my set up so that I now have just the one new
hard wired filter with 3 phones on line .

Recent speed tests to my ISP show I achieve 1536 KB .

In earlier days I was getting only about 1200 KB .
Perhaps something else has altered but I am suspicious that it is
the new filter that has produced the improved line speed .

Hopefully your filter will appear on the approved list at this
address :

http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/?tag=adslfp_03

I am using the C10 Communications C10100E .
The same splitter is being sold at Office works under the name of
Jackson .

Cheers

Bob

I have an even zanier working system! A central splitter filter has
the security system on one branch and another line with four phones at
various well spread locations in two buildings, each with its own
filter. Yet another line has another splitter/filter on it with the
ADSL ethernet router on one arm and the filtered side goes to the
modem in our G3 iMac for sending faxes. Additionally an Airport
Extreme Base station is into the router. Wonder of wonders, it all
works fine.

Re: U TUBE

2008-06-26 Thread gary dorn

Hey folks,

Does anyone know how to capture videos from U tube burn then to disc?

I use tubetv
I think you need Perian installed as well

movies can played in Quicktime or iTunes

I've made DVD's with iDVD and burnt them to play on other dvd
players - takes a while to burn ( macPro)

evidently another way to download UTube movies is
play a utube move in Utube in safariwindowactivity, look the largest files

looks something like this:
http://v5.cache.googlevideo.com/get_video?video_id=FRXmPe8I7QQorigin=sjl-v135.sjl.youtube.comsignature=56E1C4DD83D39F3CFFC7ACD46694B1F64B5BD2E1.B092C20BBFFE2BC5E16A674F87C256986836BA95ip=125.168.96.243ipbits=16expire=1214552129key=yt1sver=2

paste in either new safari window or your personal download manager of choice
rename file in finder

anyway its easier with tubetv http://www.chimoosoft.com/products/tubetv/

hope this helps

Thx regards,

Ken

I have a G5 10.4.11 Use graphic converter and other print
programmes but whatever I do I cannot get my Epson R230 to print
the same as I see on screen. They are always different lighter
reder bluer bit washed out never the same.,

What do others do in these situation. I have calibrated and
calibrated the screen - that is not the printer. All inks are new
and primed all heads clean

Hello Tom,

Are you using the Epson R230 Printer Driver Settings?

When you go to Print, Under Print Settings, there is Media Type for
the paper you are going to print on (Photo Paper, Glossy Photo
paper etc).
You can use Mode: Automatic, custom, or Advanced Settings set the
highest quality for the printer/Media combination that you require.
Under Print Settings - Color Management: do you have either 'Color
Controls' or 'Color Sync' set?

Cheers,
Ronni
