2009-09-03 Thread Ronda Brown

Hello Adrian,

Don't know about WIndows 98 I think you might be out of luck there,
you can with Windows XP ... NOT easy, but CAN be done ... apparently.
A search on Google brings up lots of interesting suggestions for you
to read through ;-)

Unlike Mac OS X, Windows XP is not designed to boot from external
hard drives. Thus, getting XP to boot from an external drive to be
used with your Intel Mac requires some work.

the software has on loading virtual machines allows you to specify

The beauty of Parallels over Bootcamp is that you can run your

I'm not too sure what applications you want to run on Win 98, but
using these virtual machines like Parallels consumes some load on
the system. For example, sometimes when playing music on Windows
(using some windows applications for editing music), you get
little hiccups, especially if the Mac machine is busy doing disc
and internet processing.

Hi Mac,

What version of iPhoto are you using?
The ! Or ? Turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the
thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.

If iPhoto '08:
Try rebuilding the database.
1. Quit iPhoto

2. Hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys and launch iPhoto.
Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
---
If iPhoto '09:
1. Quit iPhoto

2. Hold down the Option Command Keys and click the iPhoto icon to
open iPhoto.

A dialog appears, showing options for rebuilding your photo thumbnails.

3. Select one of the following checkboxes:

Rebuild the photos’ small thumbnails: This option rebuilds only the
small versions of the thumbnails, such as those that appear in the
photo browser when you are creating a book or slideshow.

Rebuild all the photos’ thumbnails: This option rebuilds all the
thumbnails associated with a photo, including the small ones and the
thumbnails that appear in a photo album or Event.

4. Click Rebuild.
Rebuilding the thumbnail cache may take several minutes.

Smart albums in iPhoto by day of the week?

2009-09-03 Thread John Winters

I can work out how to make a smart album in iPhoto (v7.1.5) to select
pictures from a specific date or a date range. What I would like to do
however is select all the pictures taken on (for example) a Thursday. I¹ve
checked the help files and Googled, but come up a blank. Conceptually it
should be easy, but I can¹t see an option for this in iPhoto. Does anyone
know if this can be done with any version of iPhoto, or with any add on to
iPhoto, maybe an apple script?

John

Hi Tom,

If you did the preparation for Snow Leopard and don't have any add-ons
or plugins that are not compatible with Snow Leopard.

Try deleting this preference file:com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
From the /username/Library/Preferences/ folder.

Then restart your MacBook.

Let us know if this solves your Menu Bar problem please.

Somewhat similar. Took about 1 hour 45 minutes to install on

Hello John,

Do a SMC reset to get the bluetooth back.

1.) Shut down the computer
2.) Disconnect all cables, printers, etc. including the power cord.
3.) Remove the battery.
4.) Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds (you won't hear a
tone or anything).

5.) Put battery back in and reconnect power cord.
6.) Turn computer back on.
7.) Open System Preferences- Bluetooth should show up under internet

Microsoft Office 2004

I'm hoping to find/buy/scavenge Office 2004 if anyone has a spare or

I have been using the original Office for Mac X at home and finally

I'm not sure which version I will need - if home student edition has

Also, a family licence edition would be great as there are 5 macs in
