Re: Apple TV wifi connection

2016-11-05 Thread Ronda Brown
Hi Severin,

tvOS 10 is only available on the fourth-gen (and later in the future) Apple TV.
Third-gen and earlier Apple TVs run a different operating system that no longer
receives updates.

Ah come on Severin, lash out and purchase a new AppleTV 4 you will not be
disappointed. ;-) Only A$299 for 64GB (which I have) or A$239 for 32GB

Re: ERRATIC BEHAVIOUR OF NOTIFICATION CENTRE NC

2016-11-05 Thread Ronni Brown
Hi again Marcus,

If the test I mentioned in my previous reply did not make any difference, run
EtreCheck.app version 3.1.2 to get a system report.
It might give you/us a clue as to what is happening.

The EtreCheck report is a snapshot of the overall health of your Macintosh.
Each individual line in the EtreCheck report may not have much meaning by
itself.
But taken together, the whole report tells a story about what is or is not
really going on inside your Macintosh.

It will also check for any Malware.

If you don't have EtreCheck on your Mac, download it from here:

 Thanks Ronni,
I don’t wish to take up your time on this problem.
I used Activity Monitor and when I went back NC it faied again with “not
responding” I repeated that so I can say it didn’t work
Then I went to Terminal and entered killall NotificationCenter as you
 suggested.
Nothing happened after I pressed “return” Or if it did there wasn’t a
 response from NC.
Maybe I have some Malware, but Sierra is working fine other than this NC
 problem.
 Disk Doctor says AOK.
Should I try some other startup command?

Hi
The issue will will be the version of OSX that the iPhone will try to
pair with.

If that's on old mac - you might not be able to sync contacts, music, etc.

Test if this makes any difference:
Go to System Preferences > Notifications - scroll down to Mail
Mail alert style: select “Banners’ if you don’t already have this selected.

"Banners appear in the upper-right corner and go away automatically. Alerts
stay on screen until dismissed”
That is how I have Notifications set for most of my applications.

Re: Update to new iOS for iPhone 5 ?

2016-11-05 Thread Daniel Kerr
Hi Stephen

Had my wife’s iPhone 5 on iOS 10 and no problems at all.
(i’m just in the process of swapping her to my “old” iPhone 6 now though,…hehe)

Kind regards

Update to new iOS for iPhone 5 ?

2016-11-05 Thread Stephen Chape
Hi folks,

I have just returned back from 5 weeks in the UK and installed the new iOS on
my iPhone 6s.
I deliberately waited till I got back thinking this would be sufficient time
for any bugs to be ironed out.
Seems OK since yesterday.

However before I left there were suggestions that it should not be installed on
the iPhone 5 yet (my wife’s).
Does anyone know if it is now safe to upgrade on the iPhone please ?

Regards,
Stephen Chape

Yes I have 10.12.1 installed. I have an older Apple TV (gen2 or 3) and had my

Re: ERRATIC BEHAVIOUR OF NOTIFICATION CENTRE

2016-11-05 Thread Ronda Brown
You have something wrong happening on your system.
Are you sure you had turned Notifications back on after you had disabled it
prior to carrying out my suggestion?

I haven't seen your reply to Peter's help.
What was your result when you carried out Peter H suggestion?

/Begin Quote from Peter's reply message:
"The tried and true simple trouble shooting resource is to log into another
account on your computer (create a new one if necessary) and see if the problem
persists, just to rule out the possibility of something specific to your
account"
/ End Quote from Peter's reply message

 Reset/Restart Notification Center:
You can forcibly restart the Notification Center in Terminal.app by
 issuing the following command string:

 killall NotificationCenter

Note there is no space between the names

Re: ERRATIC BEHAVIOUR OF NOTIFICATION CENTRE

2016-11-05 Thread Marcus F Harris
Thanks Ronni,
I don’t wish to take up your time on this problem.
I used Activity Monitor and when I went back NC it faied again with “not
responding” I repeated that so I can say it didn’t work
Then I went to Terminal and entered killall NotificationCenter as you suggested.
Nothing happened after I pressed “return” Or if it did there wasn’t a response
from NC.
Maybe I have some Malware, but Sierra is working fine other than this NC
problem.
Disk Doctor says AOK.
Should I try some other startup command?
Cheers and thanks

 Hi Ronni,
Thanks for your advice. Yes, Sierra otherwise operates just fine.
I pretty much know how NC works as I had no issues before with El Capitan.

I wouldn’t be concerned except when NC is functioning it reveals Mail
alerts which cover the RHS of the screen and cannot be deleted. In fact if
I point the mouse any where near the alerts, the system will freeze with
the spinning wheel turning for up to 20 seconds.

I have turned all the NC alerts off and that clears that up. As soon as I
turn Mail back on the alerts reappear and block the screen.
 Then I have to restart.

I have a lot of emails in iCloud as I’m uncertain how to delete them en
masse so maybe that’s an issue

Is it possible to reset NC somehow?
 Cheers
