So, what you need to do is boot up the macbook from the original DVD disk
that came with your computer - when the macbook is running from this disk
you will be able to use disk utility to repair the disk - asssuming, that
is, that the disk IS repairable.

If you find the above confusing, Ronni has covered all this in much more

Re: Iphone

2008-11-30 Thread Janis Lynn

Hi Ken

I bought a jailbroken Iphone last July in the US. You dont need a
plan, just pop in your sim that is what I did with Optus. Optus has
a data top up for $10 for 30mb (but is actually 200mb for some
reason) anyway I am usually in a wireless zone, but on occasion need
to use my Iphone outside a wireless zone and to date have never gone
over my 200mb per month as downloading email or using google does
not use up many bites. I have read somewhere that 3 are going to be
offering data plans as well. Buy the Iphone I am sure you will not
regret it!

Kind regards

Hi All

Just wanted to thank Robert for replying to my problem on and

I buy a firewire cable. I have a question for anyone on the list as
to why this sort of thing could happen? I have always been told
repair permission before and after software updates, is this why?
Also could this have happened if he tried to update software for the
wrong machine? Like he ticked the box for software he did not have?
Or is it because he did not restart after update? What would cause
the OS to get corrupted?

Thanks for listening,
Janis

Re: Permission HD

2008-04-28 Thread Janis Lynn

Hi All

I just bought a used Macbook Core Duo 2 on EBAY in which the
previous owner seems to have formatted the HD into two. One formated
as OS and the other has Windows. The windows HD in info says read
only as I have been unable to copy any files onto that HD. How do I
change the permissions? Also I am not familiar with windows on MAC
so I assume I will be able to use windows apps if loaded onto this
HD? How do I initiate the Windows OS? Also since I do not have any
windows programs, I was thinking of loading my Itunes music library
onto this drive and free up space on the OS HD. Does anyone know if
there would be a problem doing this? Thanks for listening!

Well, it seams WAMUG has hit the big time. No longer can we hide in
our little corner of the internet, away from the degenerate sub-humans
of the world.

It seams that a harvesting email address was subscribed to the list to
gather email addresses. This is a task that generally requires a human
to accomplish, so their bots must be getting more sophisticated.

At any rate, I have banned the offending address from gathering the
email feed and will keep an eye on subscriptions. This is added to my
duties of clearing out the 20-30 spam postings we have to the web site
every day.

Re: Entourage

2007-08-28 Thread Janis Lynn

Hi All

I dont use Entourage but a friend does and she has found that all the
dates of the emails in her IN box have become some unusual date
format, just numbers and not recognizable date formats, 82082007 etc.
I have looked at all the preferences and everything looks ok. Anyone
come across this before??

Thanks

Re: Adsl/Wirelss Set up

2007-05-30 Thread Janis Lynn

Hi

Thanks for the ideas for NETGEAR setup. We took one of the IMAC's to
a PC shop and have found out the Ethernet Port is damaged from the
lightning strike as it was connected when the old modem got hit by
lightning. I have now sourced a USB/Ethernet Adapter from EBAY.
Should arrive any day now.

Re: ADSL/Wireless Set up

2007-05-29 Thread Janis Lynn

Dear Wamuggers

I am wondering if anyone on the list would have any suggestions as I
am having trouble setting up a new NETGEAR ADSLReuter/Wireless/
Modem. I used my ibook to set up the modem and all computers with
wireless can connect with no problems. The blue imac's are not
recognizing the ethernet connections (they do not have wireless
cards and are connected through the blue ethernet cables). In
network status it says ethernet is not connected etc. I have tried
everything I can think of. If Anyone has any ideas I can try I would
be most grateful.

Thanks

Re: Entourage

2007-02-22 Thread Janis Lynn

Hi All

I have set up Entourage for a business reception mail (I dont use
it) it worked great for 2 weeks, but suddenly it has stopped sending
mail. Its just sits in the outbox? I checked and rechecked
settings, everything look fine. When you hit send all it goes thru
the process of logging on, sending password etc. Then 0 files sent,
whilst 10 are still sitting in outbox. No, error message. I would
appreciate if anyone had any suggestions I can try.

Thanks

My previous post:

I was wondering if anyone on the list has had any success using
eqo for skype on a Nokia 6260? I am thinking of upgrading my

Maybe I was too specific. Has anyone used skype or skypeout using
their mobile thru their mac?

Thanks

so it

will run OS 10.2. What firmware do I need and how do it?

Re: Entourage

2006-03-22 Thread Janis Lynn

Hi

I have managed to copy my excel data base into Entourage via copy
and paste instead import, but only to discover that Entourage would
not send more than 75 emails with 2 .pdf attachments at a time
without an error message saying too many recipients. Has anyone
else had this problem? I am now thinking that I should have
exported into Mac Mail instead. Would be interested to know if there
is any way around this in Entourage? Thanks for any advice given.

Re: Entourage

2006-03-18 Thread Janis Lynn

Hi

I was wondering if any of the MAC Entourage users can help me? I am
trying to import from an excel file into Entourage a data base that
has name, address, and email etc. into the address book so I can
produce a group mailout. It imports but with no matching data files
and only puts the info in Notes? I have tried saving my file into
different formats, eg .txt. .rtf no joy. I would have thought two
Microsoft office programs would sync? Any suggestions?

Thanks

SORRY, to post this again, but still at a loss of how to sort this
out. I have visited MacFixit, but nothing seems to make any
difference. I am now thinking of deleting all printer drivers and
then reinstalling the ones I need? Another error message coming up
is : Communication error cannot install printer driver

Dear Fellow Wamuggers

I was wondering if any one would have any suggestions for a printing
problem that has recently occurred since updated latest 10.4.5
Tiger. Cannot print In print menu says printer has stopped. Have
tried deleting driver and reinstalling. When I tried to add printer
and I get error 50. Have tried two different printers, using
wireless and directly with USB. Still cannot print. Everything was
working just fine before update. Hope someone can help!!

Re: MacBusiness Software

2005-04-16 Thread Janis Lynn

Dear All

I was wondering if anyone on the List has had any experience with
MacBusiness 2.92. I just downloaded it from the Apple site onto my
desktop only to discover its an .exe file. I have always
instinctively stayed away from .exe downloads. I use MYOB for
accounting for my business, but was interested in floating time
window' as I seem to forget to write down how many hours I am spending
on some of my clients files!

Re: HD space...

2005-04-06 Thread Janis Lynn

Dear All

I recently purchased a second hand G4 ibook with 30G, 1G RAM 800MGz
running 10.3.8.At the moment there is only 9 G available. I
optimized with Onyx and gained 2 G, but I still feel that although
there are a quite a few applications I should have more space
available. Has anyone experienced this problem or have any
suggestions? I just download tinker tool systems, but alittle uneasy
to make any major changes with advice. Also, does anyone know how to
delete old mail addresses from the system? I have searched and deleted
all the usual places eg. address book etc, but they still come up in
my mail account when I write new emails. One more question, how do I
change the name of Home without re-formating?

Kind regards

Janis
