Screen Image Capture - Command Option 4

2007-10-25 Thread Wilson Tony

The above has worked flawlessly for me for years.

I now hear the "camera shutter click" as before but no picture
appears on the desktop.

Hoping this is not a frivolous query but I cannot locate the picture
(if taken) anywhere

Thanking in anticipation of the answer

Camcorder Movie to Mac

2007-08-27 Thread Wilson Tony

One last try

I have purchased a Panasonic SDR H20 Video Camera

It ships with a USB cable for transfer to a computer and an Svideo
cable for TV connection

The TV aspect works fine but I cannot get movies on to my Mac Mini
via the USB cable.

Specifications say the recording media is an SD memory Card - SDHC,
and a 30GB HDD

The camera will record and play back via both the card and the hard
disk on the camera itself. However, what is required on the MacMini
to enable recognition of the .mov files recorded by the camera.

It appears that buying the camera is only part 1. PC users receive
software to automatically accept the movie but Macintosh owners have
to flounder around without any assistance from the manual, etc. I
purchased on an understanding that the cameras were drag and drop.

Is there anyone in our community able to direct me away from this
futile floundering darkness

I have downloaded MPEG Streamclip but it requires further payment for
a plug in. I read of your comments about iMovie 8 - is that the
answer? BTW, I come to this forum having checked many sites.

Sometimes new technology should be left to a small minority of
experts until it becomes old technology me thinks

TIA

Movies download to TV straight from camera - no probs.

Am I understanding from our archives that to download to my Dell 24"
I need iMovie 08

The camera also contains an SD card but I was assuming the USB
cabling would enable direct connection from the camera HD to the
computer screen

Could anyone set me straight on this please

Bogus Purchase

2006-11-27 Thread Wilson Tony
Like many WAMUGGERS I receive hoax mail but the one today worries me
a little.

It suggests I have purchased a $2450 item by credit card from
[EMAIL PROTECTED] There is a pdf attached (which I will not open). It
claims that I will receive another email shortly with tracking details.

My concern is that someone may have my credit card details, but it
seems dopey that the order would come to me rather the culprit using
the card

Should I do anything with this advice?

TIA

Re: Palatino Font Family

2006-06-27 Thread Wilson Tony

Thanks Ronnie

For member's info, I had been meticulously following (or so I
thought) the Take Control of Fonts in Mac OS X publication

It is an exhaustive publication and it was only after one of my
documents requested Palatino that I recalled putting it in a safe
place as recommended, but overlooked reloading after the removal of
unwanted fonts.

All the same it was most relieving to have an external clone of the
Hard Drive, as the font problem had not been diagnosed - thanks to
Superdooper. A thoroughly reliable sleep promoting application
designed for tinkerers like myself

Dell 24

2006-06-20 Thread Wilson Tony

I agree with Brett
The Dell 24" allows me to work on 2 x A3 pages simultaneously and
watch AFL (real football) or the US Open live.
It is a proven performer. Ignore the comments about it being too
bright, etc. I find my PB screen now a little too dull in comparison.

Go for it

Text on Circle - Illustrator

2006-06-10 Thread Wilson Tony

To those that have provided assistance - many thanks

To Rob - Please read my original request.

I agree it is a simple task to put text on a circle - NOT the question

The question is , can anyone assist me in placing text on the top and
the bottom of a circle, eg I need SPRINGFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL to run
across the top of the circle (obviously circle not to show), then I
require YEAR 4 CHAMPION BOY across the bottom of the (hidden) circle.

The issue is, how does one put centred text across the bottom of the
circle

Thanks Pat Scott - but what a convoluted method of achieving a very
simple task in Freehand.

Is there a simpler method as I have 300 school clients and my request
is by no means flippant. I need to achieve this process to satisfy
these clients on the inevitable conversion from Freehand to Adobe Illus.

TIA

El Gato DDS

2006-04-28 Thread Wilson Tony

Thank you to all who responded to my request for assistance.

I thought it appropriate to share my experience with all.

These remarks refer to the Hamersley 6022 area but may be relevant to
others.

1. The supplied antenna is inadequate even if held on high.

2. The rabbit ears with built in tuner is a slight improvement - but
alas, inadequate.

Incidentally, both 1 and 2 fine tune into 5 SBS channels including 2
radio frequencies. That's all.

3. The answer is to plug into my lounge room coaxial TV cable.
Received approx 40 channels of every description. Am now arranging a
lead to the office.

In response to a suggestion that once tuned to the required channels
via coaxial, the small antenna may then work - not the case at this
location.

In general the software used to record a TV program is brilliant in
its simplicity.

For those interested I have the last of the Mac Mini without dual
core and watch TV on a 24" Dell monitor.

Thank you all once again

External Fire Wire Back Up

2006-03-17 Thread Wilson Tony
I have used a Sarotech External firewire drive to Superdooper my
MacMini hard drive in total.

No problems for 3 years until now.

While the 3 external drive partitions on the firewire drive show on
the desk top and my work appears to be cloned to it, I cannot select
it as a startup disk through system preferences. I have tried to
repartition from IPartition but that software, while seeing the
icons, cannot "get at it "either.

I would be happy to reformat the drive and start back ups again but I
need advice as how to access it.

Advice would be appreciated
