The file mapping in 10.3.9 with QT 7.0.1 on my puter says mpe is QT. But if Real is trying to handle it, and it must be just a clip if it's come as an attachment, why not just rename it as .mpeg and give it a go? Nancy M
A PC application I can't open
G'day I've received some attachments from my brother with the suffix .mpe. When I double click I'm told that Real Player can't open it because I don't have the right version of QuickTime (v7.0.1 installed). What is this evil that Gates and Co. are foisting upon us? Quicktime standard v7.0.1 will run on OSX 10.3.9 and above. This might open that file without buying quicktime Pro . Another thing you could try is using something like ffmpegX and see if you can convert it to a viewable format. Finally Flip4Mac allows you to view WMV.
