Mac keyboard mouse wanted

2010-01-14 Thread Ray Forma

Does anyone have a Mac usb keyboard and mouse that they no longer
want and want give away? A hockey-puck mouse is fine. Can collect
within reasonable distance.

I do know that a Wintel keyboard and mouse will work, but the real
thing will suit better.

Keyboard Mouse

2006-11-21 Thread Chris Watt

Hi Guys,

After purchasing 2 Apple wireless keyboards and mice, I have to say I
have finally given up on their wireless gear. I haven't even gotten a
full year out of a device that doesn't stop working randomly or cease
to pair after a battery replacement.

So I'm after a wired keyboard and mouse. Just after a standard white
pro mouse as I don;t like the Mighty Mice. Standard keyboard too (not
that it;s changed lately!!)

I'm up for $129 new, suffering a Mighty Mouse, so if anyone has any
spares/old ones laying around, I'd love to hear about them!

Cheers
~Chris

I too don't like the mighty mouse so the first thing I do when I change Macs
is plug in a 2 button PC mouse, Logitech, Microsoft intellipoint, they are
all pretty good. Pick em up for $20 at Office Works. Gotta have a right
mouse button and scroll wheel. Stay with the Apple keyboard though.

Subject: Re: Keyboard/Mouse Lockout

Ok. The problem has been isolated to a faulty mouse cable. I really
love my Apple mouse but I probably wouldn't buy one new cause they
cost too much. Is there anyone who has a spare mouse cable for a
G4-400 mouse, possibly from a dead mouse. Is it possible to buy
replacement cables for mice?
I should have tried to win that mouse at the last WAMUG but I was
quite happy with my current mouse and I didn't know about the problems
I was about to face.

Thanks
Ruben A. Franke

Fortunately no. My workstation setup requires an extension USB cable
to the keyboard cable and that's where the trouble was. Lucky!!!

Severin

Did you have to buy a new keyboard to fix the problem?
I hope not.
Ruben A. Franke

I had the same problem, it was a faulty connector on the keyboard
cable!

I have recently discovered that a friend using a PC is also
experiencing this same problem. This person also knows of someone
else experiencing the same problem using a PC.
So far I have not been able to figure out a way of dealing with
this problem

I have recently been experiencing what I thought to be freezes.
However I noticed that programs continued to function normally
and discovered that unplugging the keyboard and plugging it back
in fixes the problem. This fix only works temporarily and the
problem occurs again after some time.

Problem occurs in various programs and in Finder.
I recently went through disc first aid and repaired permissions
although I'm not too sure if this is relevant.

Re: Keyboard/Mouse Lockout - LCD monitor?

2003-11-13 Thread Derek Yeoh-Ellerton
Hello all.

I was wondering if there was a LCD monitor involved in this set-up at all? I
have seen a few G4's with LCD monitors connected, that appear to freeze when
the USB keyboard is plugged directly into the LCD monitor, rather than into
the USB port on the back of the G4 tower.

Just an idea, incase this is the situation here.

Cheers,
Derek.

I've seen a similar thing on a MAcOS 9.2 machine - thought the issue was
withthe mouse, it was otherwise the same. Replacing the mouse and
keyboard did not help, unfortunately. I was very reluctant to erase and
rebuild the machine (the next step after everything else I'd tried, ie
PRAM zap, prefs nuking, etc), as it would take me quite some time -
think Quark, Photoshop, etc etc on a DTP workstation. I eventually
swapped the hard drive into another machine to see if it was a hardware
fault.

The result was indeterminate - the problem never resurfaced on the
original hardware _or_ the replacement with the original hard drive. I'd
love to know what caused it, but at least it's gone away.

I'm not sure this is really useful to you, but I thought I'd let you
know that I, too, have seen intermittent USB problems with basic devices
on Apple hardware. Perhaps you might want to drop in a PCI USB card to
see if that helps (assuming Macs support them properly - anybody know?).

Bluetooth keyboard/mouse

2003-04-17 Thread Keith Palmer, Zytech
Just typing this email from the middle of the room from my new MS
Bluetooth keyboard - yes no wires, no infared.

The setup took 2 mins to unpack thje keyboard and mouse and insert
batteries and then about 5 secs for the Bluetooth assistant to find
both the keyboard and mouse and pair to them.

OK so who wants one or is it two you get a multi-button optical
mouse in the deal.

You also get a book for Windows XP users on how to get the thing to
work . it's a shame Mac users don't get a book because you don't
need one. The silly thing is this keyboard was made expressly for Win
XP users but the setup on a Mac really is just as a simple as
described. The very hardest thing was opening the battery door on the
mouse.

. and you get a Microsoft USB Bluetooth adapter which I haven't
tried because the Zytech one works just fine, is about half (or more
like one third) the size and has a 40 metre range ... I'll need a
larger screen from back here.

Re: Bluetooth keyboard/mouse

2003-04-17 Thread Keith Palmer, Zytech
We're trying to get bulk pricing rates but at this point in time it
looks like around $350 but that does include a shiny box, keyboard,
Bluetooth adapter, 4 x AA batteries, another dingly-dangly that I
didn't bother with and mouse. I think the mouse by itself is going to
retail at $150 so it's so...so value.

Having played with it for a while now, at this stage IntelliType Pro
3.1 doesn't see the Bluetooth keyboard so you can't go in and modify
the keys like you can on other MS keyboards. So all the little silver
buttons don't do anything yet but I'm sure this will be addressed in
the next software release.

MS haven't addressed this keyboard at the Mac market at all, it's
positioned to be something really neat for the XP crowd who go through
the process of installing Bluetooth, the dingle-dangles and setting
everything up. It just so happens that both the keyboard and mouse are
totally plug'n'play on a Mac.

Yet another example of just how wonderful OS X is .. I've just off
the phone to a friend who does presentations and he can't wait to get
hold of at least the mouse. He couldn't believe that you didn't have
to point it at a receiver or that it didn't matter if people got in the
way of you and your presentation.

For me, it's just nice to be completely free of cables. If I want some
space I can just pick up my keyboard and park it anywhere I want.

The downside is that you'll always need a couple of AA batteries close
by just in case your run flat.

I've included the MS info sites (with pics) - the keyboard and mouse
are actually dark metallic blue - much bluer in real life than is
depicted on the MS website -
