Re: Educational Pricing
* Who qualifies? In my case I'm a UWA graduate but I'm not sure if this alone qualifies me. My father is a ECU lecturer - I don't know if this helps. Apple.com.au doesn't seem particularly helpful in spelling out who qualifies. If you are a UWA Alumni (I am also a graduate from UWA, but you have to join (and pay for) the Alumni) to qualify. Alumin membership will no longer qualify for academic discounts - this is one of the key changes that and one year instead of three year warranties for non departmental purchases. -- ~ Mark Secker Computer Support Officer ph#6488 1855 (ECEL) mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] University of Western Australia - CRICOS Provider No. 00126G ~ Only he who attempts the absurd is capable of achieving the impossible. - Miguel de Unamuno It takes an idiot to do cool things that's why it's cool - Haruhara Haruka (FLCL) http://ecel-mark.ecel.uwa.edu.au/~marksecker/index.htm (sometimes works)

Cheers, Anton. Hi Antony Yes it was on the last few days (from Shay) ---quote--- Hmm... That's interesting. Apple announced a change of policy (at least with regards to purchases from UWA's Winthrop Australia) that's coming in after June 28th, namely that * 3 year warranty for staff ,students and private purchases would no longer be available (UWA departments and affiliates still get it) * UWA Alumni will no longer be eligible for educational pricing Curiouser and curiouser. So if you're eligible for a discount from UWA you should get shopping now if you want a 3 year warranty and the Alumni discount (although you need to be a paid up member of UWA Alumni, of course). Have fun, Shay ---end quote--- Most Apple resellers can offer educational pricing. Some can't do all,..quite tricky. ;o) Yes you can use an education price with Flexirent or something similar. Hope that helps. Email me off list if you want more info. * Who qualifies? In my case I'm a UWA graduate but I'm not sure if this alone qualifies me. You need to have paid your dues to the UWA Graduate association ($27 for one year) to become an Active Member http://www.graduates.uwa.edu.au/page.php?pgeID=1 My father is a ECU lecturer - I don't know if this helps. He should qualify, if that's the case. I think ECU counts for discounts... Not all of them used to, but that may have changed. * Anyone know if you can use a Resellers finance option (RentSmart etc) in conjunction with educational pricing? You'd have to ask the reseller :) More info can probably be found at the on-line Apple Education Store http://www.apple.com.au/education/store/ Have fun, Shay -- === Shay Telfer Perth, Western Australia Technomancer Join Team Sungroper in the Opinions for hire [POQ] 2005 World Solar Challenge [EMAIL PROTECTED] fnord http://sungroper.asn.au/

A lecturer, University campus, Tafe campus or current Uni or TAFE student are entitled to EDU prices. The changes in system, are to the warranty's given. Individuals from 28th june only receive 1 year. University's and Tafe still get a 3 yr. * Do all the Apple Resellers support (the same?) educational pricing? All prices will be exactly the same. Apple are selling the item and reseller gets a agent commission. * Anyone know if you can use a Resellers finance option (RentSmart etc) in conjunction with educational pricing? A reseller can bill a finance company with delivery to the student. Tim Gardner [EMAIL PROTECTED] Artref Pty Ltd 614 Hay Street Jolimont WA 6014 (08) 93875088 (ph) (08) 93875722 (fax)

Resellers have been notified via Apple's Reseller Channel website, and I believe Shay read it somewhere :-) (I don't know where!) In short my questions are * Who qualifies? In my case I'm a UWA graduate but I'm not sure if this alone qualifies me. My father is a ECU lecturer - I don't know if this helps. Graduates don't count. Your father can buy at edu pricing, as he is a lecturer. * Do all the Apple Resellers support (the same?) educational pricing? Only resellers that have educational qualifications with Apple. Winthrop is the biggest. I'm not sure who else is now, since the demise of Gmac. Does anyone know who is for sure these days? * Anyone know if you can use a Resellers finance option (RentSmart etc) in conjunction with educational pricing? Yes! Edu pricing has nothing to do with the way you finance it. I had a number of deals in the past where teachers salary sacrificed for a new laptop. A few bought through Flexirent and Rentsmart - which were good deals as the three year warranty covered your Mac until the contract finished (unless you went 4 years). Now that the 3 year warranty is almost over, if you purchase via Flexirent you will have to cover the time after your first year your own way (Flexirent do not cover for the time of the loan). The new edu 3 year warranty is pretty much only departments, not individuals. Best bet is to check with your edu supplier before the 28th! Seeya Rod!
