WAMUGER OF THE YEAR !
As an early then financial Wamuger who lives in Rural Western Australia at the time got sufficient Agenda notice of monthly meetings so that I a number of your elderly members could organise ourselves to attend such meetings ( A minimum 4 hour drive). Now no longer possible apart from no Agenda I would like to formally nominate Rhonda ( Ronni) Brown to position of WAMUGER OF THE YEAR for her unstinting enthusiastic support of so many of we ignorant Mugs Her knowledge response so generously given has been as is far above a beyond that of any other member. I I know many other aging Wamugers will always be gratefull for her solving problems difficult to us but immensly helpfull instructive to us so that we in turn can help others. As an isolated country member there is no local support WAMUG has been an essential lifeline. Re: WAMUGER OF THE YEAR !
Hi All I would certainly agree. Ronda (Ronni) does an excellent job for WAMUG. She spends a lot of time to research and help people, all which she does for free. And I know she gets emailed off list as well, so she does a lot of free work behind the WAMUG scenes as well. A great effort, a great lady and we should all be proud she is part of our WAMUG community. Well done Ronni and thank you! You are very much appreciated. So THANKS! Re: WAMUGER OF THE YEAR ?
Good morning WAMUGers. Thank you to everyone who has said such kind words. I'm really overwhelmed! I feel very humbled and also slightly embarrassed. In fact 'I'm stuck for words' (which Daniel a few who know me will find hard to believe). I don't expect accolades for helping people. Helping people gives me a good feeling. There are so many extremely talented people on our list that give so much of their knowledge, experience, professional advice, and time, and I commend each and every one of them. A few years back when I first started using a computer, (I had never touched a computer until I retired and decided I needed a new challenge), I was having a problem with an external burner I had purchased. It took me some time to get enough courage to post a message asking for help. A person responded with . RTFM .! At that time I didn't even know what RTFM meant ;-) I eventually corrected the fault myself (not by reading 'TFM'), but did not post a message again for a very very long time. What I did do was start researching everything I could find about Macintosh Computers and how they work. I purchased so many books, subscribed to so many Mac magazines, downloaded information. I had a good 'Mentor' in Mark Heeler who showed me how to replace a HD in my iMacDV. After awhile I was able to take my iMacDV apart put it back together again. I found it 'scary stuff' but managed to do it. I still find getting inside my computers 'scary stuff' (as Daniel Kerr knows). Daniel has taught me so much over the years. I have found Daniel to be the most knowledgeable Mac Computer person around. What Daniel doesn't know about Macs is not worth knowing! So I guess what I'm trying to say (other than a huge thank you), is we all experience problems at some time and need help. If we can help each other that is what we do 'It's the Mac Way' ! Thanks again, I have very much appreciated this. Cloe also sends her thanks to Wendy Reg and is so pleased 'someone understands what she has to put up with' ;-) Cheers, Ronni Cloe On 24/05/2007, at 2:29 PM, Philip Trouchet wrote: As an early then financial Wamuger who lives in Rural Western Australia at the time got sufficient Agenda notice of monthly meetings so that I a number of your elderly members could organise ourselves to attend such meetings ( A minimum 4 hour drive). For me, his help and suggestions, often for others, have been very informative and even inspiring. I have followed some of his information and leads over the last six years and it has led me to discover a great deal of useful knowledge. I should however qualify this nomination, as I have a miniature axe to grind ;-) Shay posted information about a job vacancy on WAMUG that I was lucky enough to secure. This position has recently been slightly expanded so I am feeling quite grateful at the moment :-) The entirety of WAMUG deserves a pat on the back if you ask me. I'm basing that on comparisons to other forums and online communities. This is a mature (not old! You are too hard on yourself Mac!), professional and generous group of individuals embodying all the things I love about Australia, Western Australia and computing.
