It's A wonderful Life (TAGS)

2006-12-11 Thread MERRILL JOHNSON JR
Hi, all I was watching It's a Wonderful Life today and was watching the
credits. There was a Sheldon Leonard that played Nick. Is this the Producer of
our favorite show.Thought I would ask all the trained noticers.Like I stated
last week I really love The Christmas Story. However I noticed the ground was
wet like it had recently rained as Ben took the bench from the courthouse.
Wouldn't it of been nice if they would of had some snow on the ground.

Don Knotts' last role?

2006-12-11 Thread m white
TAGS fans,

Just watched the movie Airbuddies on DVD with my family and was surprised to
hear Don Knotts doing the voice of the dog Deputy Sniffer. He did a great
job--and what more perfect voice could you have for a deputy? Made me wonder
when he recorded it. Also made me wonder if there're any more works out there
that he did which haven't been released because I'm pretty sure Chicken
Little was advertised as his final role.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

A Very TAGS Hanukkah

2006-12-11 Thread brodahaver
Remember, while most of the cast and crew from TAGS were celebrating
Christmas, most of the producers and writers were observing Hanukkah. Hanukkah
is
recognized over a period of eight days in observance of the rededication of
the
Temple in Jerusalem. TAGS ran for EIGHT seasons!

Yet another lesson learned from TAGS

2006-12-11 Thread G Stefanow
This is just really an urgent call for the men folk reading this digest. Please
allow me to explain. For over twenty years, my lovely spouse and I have rarely
exchanged gifts for the holidays. We truly have a modest income and have used
it to ensure that our four children had the merriest Christmas possible.
(Without losing the meaning of celebrating the Lord's birth, mind you.) Anyway,
my wife is a champion of practicality and frugality. So, today when she blurted
out that we needed to start exchanging gifts, even getting pretty emotional, I
finally took notice. She had apparently hinted to this weeks before, but I had
missed it.(Most of us men are not good at mind reading, ladies, honestly.) SO,
men, do yourself a favor and take back the dishcloths and canning jars whilst
you still CAN! Time really is running out.Skip the practical and go for the bed
jacket or like item. Please excuse me while I head back out with the crazed
crowds.Yes, ladies, when I get home, I will put
the bucket back on my silly head! Please, nobody tell my wife why, okay?

Whatever Happened to Mayberry

2006-12-11 Thread maharmon
This is a true record for metwo posts in less than a month and only one
other in the previous 7 years. When Last I wrote, I mentioned our radio show
The Red Rooster Party, a non-profit, community radio show featuring roots
music. We began a segment called The Mayberry Corner where we ask our
listeners questions about The Andy Griffith Show, VERY easy questions. We are
located at the University of CT so there is no expectation that listeners know
anything about the show. Last week we asked the question.hold your breath
and then gaffaw...What was it that Aunt Bee made that tasted like
kerosene?.It took 7 calls to get the correct answer! It
was plumb pitiful. We also played The Darling Boys by the Dillards and Andy
singing Cindy. The winner of our trivia contest wisely chose the Andy
Griffith CD we offered. Our goal is to bring a little bit of the humor and
values of Mayberry to other parts of the world. We have listeners in England,
Japan, India, Australia, and Germany along with folks here in the State of New
England and other parts of the U.S. We also gave out Rodney Dillard's recipe
for Blackened Pig (sounds better than most of my cooking). Being raised in NC,
both my husband and myself embrace Mayberry. We hope that all of you have a
wonderful Christmas and a great beginning to your New Year. I don't want to be
considered an interloper, I just like the company, Marti Jim,The Red

Mayor Pike on Kay Jeweler's commercial

2006-12-11 Thread Kim
Hey we have that commercial in TX also. I didn't know if Kay was statewide,
nationwide or in a certain region.

This may have been mentioned before, but I spotted young Clint Howard on an
episode of Star Trek. My husband told me it was one of the early episodes and
Clint played an adult and they dubbed another voice for him.

Mr. Wheeler

2006-12-11 Thread Dan Goodwin
I caught Henry Wheeler in my front yard the other day, he wanted to spray my
roses for some aphids which I couldn't see, but since I didn't have my
glasses, I didn't argue about it. I told him that what I really needed was
some help digging a hole for my new septic tank in side yard. In addition
to some significant digging, probably would involve a bit of heavy lifting.

Well, Mr. Wheeler said he'd love to do that but he had a job in Mt. Pilot
and another in Siler City that should take him about 3 days then he'd come
back over and we'd get that tank in. He left me his card and went on his
way. It's been over a week and no Mr. Wheeler.

I figured I'd give him a call and see when I could expect him, so I dug out
the card he left me. You know what that card said?.Neil
Bentley, Attorney at Law!

I've been trying to make sense out of the whole episode and the only thing I
can figure out is that if you want a good suit, you've got to go to Mt.
Pilot. No, wait, that doesn't make sense either...

Christmas songs/movie news

2006-12-11 Thread Jason Harrod
Hello Fellow Mayberryians (ites?),

First of all, I would like to say that every now and thenI like to
part my hair on the wrong side so that when I look in the mirror, I
know what everyone else is seeing!

Secondly, I'm pretty excited because one of my songs (Messed Up
Everywhere Blues) is going to be used in a movie starring Randy
Travis called The Wager. Also appearing in the film is Nancy
Stafford, who of course starred with good ol Andj in Matlock. I
don't know if it's going to get a theatrical release or not.

There's a trailer of it here: http://www.wager-themovie.com/images/
wtrailer.mov

Also, I have a couple of Christmas songs you can download if you
want, at http://jasonharrod.com/news.html

I hope everyone is well,

Jason

Re: Andy's badge

2006-12-11 Thread rcm999
What you see on the cover-art is a result of a composite shot. The images are
in fact reversed, as noted by Andy's hair and his badge. You'll note too,
Opie's hair and the direction of the buttoning of Goober's shirt. The
background is a drawing only, not a photo. But what you see in that one final
image is a result of overlays.

Either that or the Count or Henry Bennett has done went and hexed it!

Mayor Pike on Kay Jeweler's commercial

2006-12-11 Thread Brad Keim
Mayor Pike (Dick Elliot) appears on a holiday Kay Jeweler's commercial.
The commercial shows a scene from It's A Wonderful Life where an old
man on a porch hollers at Jimmy Stewart. Mayor Pike's that man.

I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas and safe holiday.
