After much thought I have decided to sell my 1960 Mayberry Squad Car. It is a Ford Fairlane exactly like the one that was used in the show. It is in excellent condition winning many awards at car shows. It was used in the movie Mayberry man and featured on collectors call on MeTV out of Chicago. It has 93,000 miles on it. This marriage thing has surfaced in our local facebook, and I believe there is an error. In fact both Floyd's were indeed married. The first one ( Walter Baldwin, stranger in town, episode 10) made reference to s old lady and her cooking smells coming through the walls and yamering on the phone. Our beloved Howard McNear wanted to borrow his wife's walking stick to use as a weapon, you know the one she used to prop open the cellar door when she brings up preserves. So you don't have to be single in Mayberry to be happy. Mayberry family Help, I have a real problem. My wife Rhonda has been in Seattle for a week visiting her sons. After trashing the house for the firat 4 days I got busy, shampooed all the carpet, cleaned closets, washed and steamed all floors downstairs, generally did spring cleaning and I'm finally done. Here's my problem, do I leave it clean and make her feel like she is not needed, or do I let them pigs back in here so she will feel needed. After researching this I think I have the answer. The oldest living person still alive who acted in TAGS is William Schallert,who was born 7-6-1922. That would make him 90. I just noticed something that I have never noticed before. When Howard was the in the barbershop quartet he was on their bowling team he wasn't sure if he could bowl because he injured his thumb, his left thumb, but in episode 223 Howard rhe bowler he bowled a 300 game with his right arm. I just want to say a big THANK YOU to the surry arts council, the stars of the show, the shops, and all the fans for this years Mayberry Days. It's been a tough year with my wife's cancer, (doing very well praise God) it was great to get away and forget all worries of life and find peace. The kinda peace that you always had at the end of every episode. Andy could fix ANYTHING in a half hour. Upon leaving we went into Mayberry on Main and the owners are so great. Running into Goober was a plus. I'm not only taking back a bit of Mayberry with me I'm a better person because of you. Also thanks to the guy that made the great Mayberry Union High hat rack, for the auction, I love it. It was our second trip to Mayberry Days, with many more to come, God willing. See ya next year. I was in the area today so I stopped in the Mayberry Cafe in Danville Indiana. Bob Mundy aka Briscoe Darling was there. Heard him holler BREAD. Then it's everybody on the truck. I stumped our waiterat trivia, deputy Dustin, he wrote me a ticket, violation 127. What a great time thanks manager Christine. It was so therapedic. Once again we drove two hours to the Mayberry Cafe in Danville Indiana. What a great time. I just want to say THANK YOU BARNEY aka David Browning. You are truely a legend keeping the legend of Barney Fife alive. I also want to thanks to the staff at the Mayberry Cafe. As always you took great care of us, with great food and service. It was quite a thrill to sit next to the mayor and his father. It was good to see Briscoe again. All good things must come to an end, then it's everybody on the truck. I didn't hear anything about Aaron Ruben's birthday and I didn't want the day to go by without mentioning it. Mr. Ruben shared the same birthday as Ronnie Howard. He was best known as the producer of the first five episodes of TAGS. Other credits include: Gomer Pyle USMC, Headmaster, Sanford and Son, the Phil Silvers Show, and many others. I just realized that Maggie Peterson not only played Charlene Darling but also played Sam Jones girlfriend in episode 249 a date for Goober. I would have never reconized her but after meeting her at Mayberry days I reconized her voice. Also I got a big hug from her. Am I the only one that didn't know this? Vacationing in Mayberry- thanks Mr. Schwump
My first trip to Mayberry days, I was there last Nov. and fell in love with the town. Now I fell in love with the people, the shows, the shops, the look-a-likes. Best vacation- I have EVER had. I have made new friends that I will keep in contact with. Mr Schwump thanks for all of your encouragement. After only getting 9 trivia questions right, you pointed out that most people didn't get any right, and forth place isn't bad for a first try.I'll be back.
