Mayberry Days Schedule for Sunday
“ Can anyone disclose info on whether or not this Sunday will have vendors , exhibits, food etc etc like Saturday ( and previous days ) will, or is Sunday just a few things left.after most everyone has left ? Thank you Holland” The Mayberry Chapel is the only main event - most vendors will have closed. Robbie Mount Airy, NC ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.wbmutbb.com/
Re: Cars
It’s been said that the background vehicles belonged to crew members and production personnel in order to give the set a real small town feeling with action going on in the background. Filming with one camera means you’re likely to see the same Chevys riding by in the background every time the shot changes from one character to the other. To answer one of Holland’s questions in the previous digest, the airport Aunt Bee used was Whiteman Airport in the San Fernando Valley which still looks much the same today. Robbie Mount Airy NC > / ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.wbmutbb.com/

Ken, I think it's called the "Mayberry March" that was included on Earle Hagen's album. Here's a link to it at Weaver's: http://www.weaversdepartmentstore.com/catalog.php?item=156 Robbie At 12:00 PM 5/26/2014, you wrote: Message: 6 Date: Sun, 25 May 2014 20:13:29 -0500 From: Ken Anderson To: wbmutbb@wbmutbb.com Subject: Mayberry RFD Theme Song Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Does anyone know if the theme song for Mayberry RFD has a title or where it might have come from. Trained Noticing
I'm enjoying the color episodes I haven't seen in quite a while and thanks to the series DVD's, noticed two new items. In the opening shot of "The Statue" the camera has a close-up of Howard's arm with Andy's gavel in his hand sitting at Andy's desk and if you look closely, there's a thin telephone book between his arm and the telephone. With the sharp DVD resolution, it looks like the writing on the cover says Mount Airy, so it appears that it's possible Andy had a Mt. Airy directory on set. The filming of this episode would be close to the time frame when he returned to Mt. Airy to move his parents to California. In the next episode "Helen, the Authoress" when it's mentioned she and Andy are going to Richmond, the scene transitions to Richmond and the publisher's office, a color photo of what's supposed to be the skyline of Richmond is shown, however, that is clearly a 1960's color photo of Charleston, SC with its recognizable church steeples and Charleston styled homes. I don't think these have been mentioned before. Robbie Beech Mtn., NC (soon) ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Digest" Subject: 40 Acres sighting Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Tonight my daughter and I sat down and watched the first episode of the first season of "Mission: Impossible" on DVD. During an outdoor scene fairly early in the episode, a church was in the background, and it looked very much like All Souls Church on TAGS. Then I noticed some storefronts that looked like ones I had seen on TAGS. One scene had a character hiding in a doorway, and it looked like the entry to Floyd's barber shop. I didn't know anything about the show's production, but I was sure these outdoor scenes were shot on Forty Acres, though it was obvious that some of the storefronts had been altered. I watched all the way through the credits and saw that "MI" was a Desilu production. However, I don't recall anyone on the digest identifying "Mission: Impossible" as a show that used the Forty Acres lot. I know "Star Trek" had one episode shot there, plus a "Batman" show or movie, as well as a couple of films that have been mentioned. Can anyone confirm for me that these scenes were shot at Forty Acres? Thelma Lou (Janet) Hi Janet, According to Kipp Teague's excellent 40 Acres site: http://www.retroweb.com/40acres_desilu_years.html it seems that the first season of Mission: Impossible did indeed use 40 Acres for some exterior filming. Good noticing! Robbie ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Re: Mayberry (40 Acres)
Aunt Bee, The 40 Acres backlot in Culver City was demolished in '75/76 to make room for an industrial park. The back lot had fallen into extreme disrepair and sat on some highly marketable real estate. The movie "Vigilante Force" (1976) was the last movie filmed there and it is saddening to watch as many of the Mayberry sets were destroyed on film as part of the movie. Kipp Teague's outstanding backlot website about 40 Acres is well worth viewing! http://www.retroweb.com/40acres.html Robbie At 10:48 AM 7/24/2012, you wrote: Send WBMUTBB mailing list submissions to wbmutbb@wbmutbb.com Message: 2 Date: Mon, 23 Jul 2012 18:02:55 GMT From: "colonialcott...@netzero.com" To: wbmutbb@wbmutbb.com Subject: Mayberry Message-ID: <20120723.140255.1872...@webmail03.dca.untd.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=windows-1252 What year was the town of " Mayberry" torn down and why was it torn down? Viacom/Paramount, which owns the rights to TAGS, has licensed TV Land (which it also owns) exclusive cable rights to air TAGS nationally. Although a superstation like WGN airs TAGS, it can only do so in the local Chicago market and another program is substituted for the satellite feed outside the Chicago market. Me Too Tv (as opposed to METV) is considered a local origination service of WCIU and therefore is not considered a nation wide transmitted signal. Re: Portrait of Betty Lynn

Can you or anyone else provide some information about that? I don't recall anyone mentioning anything about it. It looked beautiful, and the artist is obviously quite talented. Was it commissioned, or did the artist simply want to do it? What was Miss Lynn's reaction to it? Thanks, Thelma Lou (Janet) Hi Janet, Perhaps Allan and/or Jeff might know more about this, but Betty Lynn was the guest of honor for Mayberry Days and Grand Marshall for the parade. The portrait was presented to her as a complete surprise near the conclusion of the Mayor's Proclamation (the official "start" for Mayberry Days) at which she was also given her second key to the city. The name of the talented artist escapes me, but he sure got an appreciative kiss from our "Thelma Lou!" She was quite thrilled to be honored in her new hometown and gave a tearful thank you to all her fans. I believe the portrait will join a similar portrait of Andy downstairs at the Andy Griffith Playhouse for everyone to see. As Barn would say, "It was BIG!!"
