Weavers
I recently ordered from Weavers. I wanted to get some more shirts that are being discontinued and a couple more "Make America Mayberry Again" bumper stickers. My orders always arrive quickly and the shirts are a good quality. I must say, I got my husband a sweatshirt last year with Andy & Opie fishing. It says "I'd rather be fishing at Myer's Lake". He gets comments every time he wears it. Some people know what it means and others ask where Myer's Lake is. I've also given the bumper stickers to friends and have them on both my truck and car. In the color show, The Taylor's Go To Hollywood, I saw something interesting. When they are having a big send off at the bus stop and the bus rolls up, off in the distance I could see a big studio building and a busy freeway.I looked up the 40 acres Backlot and could see the layout.Fascinating. I recently noticed in "Goober Tales a Car Apart" a shadow on the street. When Goober is walking down the street and Gilly Walker (speed, speed, speed) pulls up, there is an arched shadow. After watching YouTube videos of all things Mayberry, I learned that the two houses shown in the background (and the one is Thelma Lou's house) were right across from the studio buildings. There was a picture showing the houses and studios across the street. The studios always seem to have the arched roof, so I am assuming that shadow is of one of the studio buildings. I also recently joined the chatroom for Two Chairs No Waiting podcast and had the podcast up on YouTube. That was a fun time! Don't burn out your valves, B. Pluto TV
The free streaming channel, Pluto TV, has removed all the color TAGS episodes as of this week. I have TAGS on every day and enjoy the variety of the black and white shows and color shows. There are color shows that I really like, such as the spaghetti dinner, Aunt Bee's rose, among so many others. I have emailed to Pluto and received a response stating they have removed all color shows for now. They may be back, or may not. They did say Pluto programming responds to what their viewers want. If any of you get Pluto, or even if you do not, please consider writing to Pluto customer service and ask for all the TAGS episodes to be shown. I read a news article about a Cockatiel who had been missing for three years. He had flown out an open door of his owner's house. He was found on a church doorstep. An animal rescue was called to help catch him and they were able to track down where he previously lived. The owner said, "Play the Andy Griffith theme song. If he starts singing and dancing around, that is our bird. He loves that song." So, that is how they identified the bird. He loved the whistling! Pluto
We cancelled our cable and have an antenna for local and streaming for TV. I have TAGS on Pluto almost all day long. It's on in the background while I'm cleaning, cooking, eating lunch. If I can't sleep at night, I'll turn Andy on and eventually go back to sleep. I am seeing scenes that are cut out on cable channels. TV Land being one of the worst for ads, sixteen minutes, I timed them! Pluto has short ads and a lot of show. Also watching Beverly Hillbillies. Peacock streaming has Leave it to Beaver and Green Acres. All free watching. We don't miss cable at all and saving money, too. Sure, I prefer the black and white TAGS. But, I like the shows where the characters have developed better than the early ones. However, there are always exceptions. As far as the color shows, once in awhile TV Land will show them and I am always happy to watch. I enjoy them a lot. Favorites being the Spaghetti episode, Aunt Bee wearing a wig, the rose, the church organ. And, I would much rather watch the color Gomer Pyle shows than black and white. B. I, too, have always wondered why Andy and Mary would leave a nice fire and relaxing evening and all of a sudden decide to go for a ride. Just didn't make sense to me. With all the 24 hr bad news, I find myself watching mostly TAGS on TV Land, Sundance, and MeTV. It feels like home to me. Even though I can repeat the lines before they're said, I still laugh. I also have noticed quite a few TAGS actors on Dragnet. "John Masters" has been several serious characters. "Aunt Nora" has been on as a landlord, and poor old "Lester Scobey" was caught in a drug making scheme. Must have needed rent money. Anyway, it does help lift the mood. I was watching TAGS and noticed something. It was the show where Ernest T. wants to join the Army and get his uniform. Andy and Barney pull up in front of the courthouse and on the pavement there was an X marked with white chalk. That is where they stopped the patrol car. I saw "Mrs. Mendelbright" on Gomer Pyle as Gomer's grandma. She mentioned Ft. Lauderdale when she was talking to Gomer. I, too, am enjoying the color shows on TV Land. I have grown to love them just like the B & W shows. If you look up Frances Bavier's profile online, it said that her car was still in the garage when she died. I have noticed on TAGS that they never say Grace before a meal. I was brought up saying Grace and always say it before a meal. The only time on TAGS that I remember anyone saying it is the hobo with the game leg. The Taylor family went to church a lot but never say Grace at the table. I've always thought even a quick little blessing would have added to the show. I wonder why they left that out? Barney's car and Goober's last name
Maybe this has been discussed before, but why would Andy and Barney both take Mrs. Lesh's car back? One should drive the squad car and one should drive Barney's car. Otherwise, they would have no way to get back to Mayberry. I'm sure the writers would not have had a very interesting ending, though. And, is Goober's name Beasley or Pyle? Yes, I have noticed, no digest messages. Well, being newly retired as of Oct. 22nd, I am getting my daily TAGS starting at 9 AM, then again starting at 4 pm until 6 pm., and later starting at 8 pm till 9 pm. I did notice one thing in Citizen's Arrest, when Gomer calls in the false robbery report. Barney is behind bars and there are no keys hanging on the wall beside the cell. Later, Barney arrives at Wally's gas station to check on the "robbery". How did he let himself out? Otis had left.
