Hi Moose,

I was just wondering if you and your sister Peggy also had a lot of
reflectors on your bikes.
Go to a refinishing school?

Jen

Today while I was watching the Andy Griffith marathon on TV land, they
showed a preview of an upcoming show. They said this fall Joan Rivers was
going to have a show on TV Land called "How Did You Get So Rich"? Well I
don't know about all you other rich folks, but speaking for me and my
sister Peggy, our father owns the R&M Grain Elevators in Raleigh. Yep, we
were both born with a silver spoon in our hand. Gotta run now, me and BoBo
are going to play some tennis.

Re: Pets

2009-06-18 Thread jflockerzie
Kirk,

Opie had a dog named Gulliver and a bird named Dickey in the first episode,
"The New Housekeeper". You see the bird in that episode but the only
mention of Gulliver is when Opie is saying his prayers.
H. makes ya wonder where those two pets went and ran off to.

Jen

I was just thinking the other day why didn't Opie ever have a pet on the
show? We know he loves dogs on the episode of Dogs, dogs, dogs and he had
taken care of winkin,(or was it lincoln) blinkin', and nod, as well as, his
imaginary horse Blackey. I wonder what kind of humorous additive that would
have made to the show. Maybe it would have just been a big additional cost
when it comes to training, feeding and caring for the pet. Just a curious
thought because Goober had a dog on one episode and we all remember Blue
and
Sigh Hutchin's Jimmy. Any thoughts?

Re: Philosophical Meanderings

Hey Ken,

I love your Philosophical Meanderings post!!!
When I read that I thought boy that would make a great t-shirt!
Can you a picture a shirt saying "Important Things I've Learned from Barney
Fife:"
and then your list!!!???

Jen

I think one of the things we often forget is that not only is Barney Fife a

ruthless lawman, a real lady's man, and an all around great guy, but he is
also a great philosopher. He often did a lot of philosophical meanderings
and I have learned a lot from him. Among the most important things I have
learned from Bernard P. Fife are the following:
If a bat lays its eggs in your hair you will go crazy. The same thing is
true about moths.

Once a jail cell door slams shut there are no more carefree days or peanut
butter and jelly sandwiches.

Albert Einsteen was a dropout.

You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Birds talk to each other.

Rich girls often go to Paris France to attend refinishing school.

Giraffes are much more likely to be struck by lightning than dogs.

Kleptormineracs steal because they are rotten.

If you bring a bird into the house it means there will be a death in the
house.

And most important; There are atmospheric rays which control bodily
motions.
If a person containing a negative or hexin quality gets between you and
those rays he creates a static that jars any successful motion to an
unsuccessful motion and jinxes you.

Thanks for the info on the "Otis" you see on Google Map.
Still pretty cool that the Google people had an Otis standing on the street

I don't know if any of you have seen this but its well worth checking out.
Google Map has a street view of Mount Airy... it's almost like being
there yourself and walking down the street.
All you have to do once you're in Google Maps is:
Type in "Mount Airy, NC" in the search Window
Click Search
Zoom in to the area you want to view
Drag and drop the little yellow guy in the top left hand corner onto the
street you want to go to.

I think I saw the tribute artist of Otis standing on the sidewalk, he's
just North of the Snappy Lunch.
Check it out; it's pretty neat being able to look around Mount Airy without
leaving home!!!

I must not be too much of a trained noticer, I've never noticed that

Danna - you may have never noticed Thelma Lou's magic trick before but I'd
say you can call yourself a trained noticer seeing that you noticed that

Those helped me to remember some more:

Thelma Lou's ability to appear back in the living room from the kitchen

probably a lost script somewhere about how she bought the old Remshaw place

Now I don't know if this is on the DVD, I've never checked. I'm thinking

Anyway, in the episode "Farmer Takes a Wife" when Andy, Barney, and Jeff
Pruitt are all over at Thelma Lou's house during the hen party, Thelma
   Lou does her magic trick.
You see Thelma come into the room to drop off a tray of drinks/food, she
says hi to Jeff and then she walks back into the kitchen. You never see

3 Pennies

2008-03-14 Thread jflockerzie
Hey Cheri,

What a neat idea

Off the top of my head I have an idea for one item for you, an time from
the episode Opie's Charity. You could put three pennies somewhere
Opie's donation to the underprivileged children's drive.

I would use Allan Newsome website to help you with some ideas.

Hey my fellow Mayberrian Friends,
Well, we are remodeling my Mayberry room and I need some help. I am
desperatly trying to get everything in there to be something or in someway
related to Mayberry. I have a good start. What I need is some way to
itemize the stuff. I want something in the room to be on each episode,
that means I need 249 items. Has anyone ever catagorized something like
that? I would love any ideas. My husband really thinks Im a NUT know.
Oh, well, keeps me off the streets as my mother always told me. Just any
little tidbits of help would be appreciated.
Thanks, and I am so thankful to be a member here. It's a lot of fun.

Photo of Aunt Bee

2007-12-26 Thread jflockerzie
Barb in CT,

I found this photo of Frances Bavier.

I have seen many pictures of Frances Bavier playing Aunt Bee, but I've
NEVER seen a younger picture of her. I'd read that though she started out
wanting to be a teacher, she actually started acting in the late 20s. There
MUST be professional pictures of her somewhere. Does anyone know of any?
I'd really like to see what she looked like BEFORE Aunt Bee.
Thanks

I can find absolutely no information about actress Josie Lloyd other than
her father is actor Norman Lloyd. Does anyone have any info about her such
as her birthday and what she is doing these days? Is she still alive? She
is harder to track down than Mr. Schwump.

Mayberry Characters in the Movies and Other Shows

2007-12-10 Thread jflockerzie
My husband and I were watching an old classic over the weekend; "The Birds"
and when one character came on, my husband asked me who he looked like.
I laughed and said hey, that's Mr. McBeevee!!! He said he was thinking
it looked like Lars Hanson from the Little House on the Prairie but he
thought I was right it did kind of look like Mr. McBeevee as well. Well
he checked it out the IMDB website to see who was correct and what do
you know we both were. I never would have guessed that Mr. McBeevee and
Lars Hanson were one and the same. It's amazing how many different
places our Mayberry folks turn up in!!!

Post Away

2007-08-15 Thread jflockerzie
Hey Hal,

Even those of us that have been a member on WBMUTBB for awhile remember
what it's like to be the new kid on the block and anxious to share our
passion, ideas and whatnot about the show, so don't worry about posting
something that have may have been discussed before. It's always nice to get
a new perspective on a question or idea. I figure if someone gets sick of
seeing a certain question or thought about the show, they can always scroll
past it and not read it bothers them that much. If we got upset about
someone posting something that has been discussed before, we'd be a bunch
of giraffes.

By the way, I agree with you about the cutting of lines and/or scenes, it
can drive a body crazy can't it??
I have TAGS on DVD but I watch it whenever it is on TV. I even stay up late
when TVLand has a bunch of TAGS on starting at 10:00 PM. I complained to a
co-worker once about being tired and she asked me why I was tired. I told
her I stayed up late watching TAGS. She looked at me like I was crazy and
asked "haven't you seen all the episodes?" I said "Well... yeah... and I
saw some of the episodes that were on last night the night before"
Geezzz some people just don't get it do they? :-)

Betty Lynn

2006-05-10 Thread jflockerzie
Another Betty Lynn story.
My story is from Mayberry Days 2003. Betty Lynn and Maggie Peterson Mancuso
were both honorary bridesmaids in my husband’s and my wedding that was part
of Mayberry Days. Betty Lynn gave us both a hug after the ceremony and she
told us how much it meant to her to be part of our wedding. It’s funny, I
was so honored and awe stuck to have Betty Lynn in our wedding, someone I
have grown up watching on TV and here she is telling me how much it meant
to her…. I still can’t get over that. She is a wonderful person!!! I tell
you, both Betty and Maggie are the some of the sweetest, most kind hearted
people you’ll ever meet. They even signed our marriage licenses as
witnesses!!!
They sure did make our wedding that much more special and memorable!!!

We will miss you Harvey Bullock!!!

2006-04-25 Thread jflockerzie
Marsha thank you for the news about Harvey Bullock. I never did get to met
him in person, but what a wonderful kind-hearted man he was. I still have
an e-mail that he had sent to me about my wedding, that was part of
Mayberry Days in 2003. He e-mailed me to tell me he was awaiting approval
from his doctor to make the trip to Mount Airy for Mayberry Days and that
if he was able to go, he would be pleased to be part of the wedding.
Unfortunately, due to his health, he wasn't able to make the trip but that
e-mail from him touched me, seems like all the people from TAGS have a
heart of gold

You will be truly missed Harvey Bullock.

Clint Howard

2006-04-18 Thread jflockerzie
Mayberry in the movies..

Was watching the movie "Fun with Dick and Jane" and it had a great Mayberry
tie to it. Clint Howard is in the movie and plays a border patrol cop. At
one point in the movie, Jim Carrey (Dick) is trying to look for work with a
group of illegal immigrants and they are all standing around when the
border patrol pulls up and starts telling everyone to get out their
driver's licenses. The cops are reading off the different fake names that
were on the fake licenses and Clint Howard then says, "You guys need to
come up with some better names, this one says Opie Taylor!"

Got a good laugh out of that and just wanted to share it with the rest of
you.

TAGS Sighting

2006-01-09 Thread jflockerzie
Had a TAGS sighting over the weekend.
I was flipping through some of the movie channels and came across the Mel
Brook movie, "Life Stinks". I left the movie on for awhile and there was a
part where the main character, Mel Brooks meets a bum. The bum caught my
attention, there was something about him, something about his eyes and
smile that seemed familiar. I said to my husband, "that bum looks a lot
like Howard Morris" We watched a little longer and heard him talk a few
more times and sure enough, it was our own Earnest T. Bass.!!!
