Thanks Dan that told the story I wanted to know about and now that you brought that to my attention I remember her son she talked about in the color episode about Opie and his band. My son had asked me why she had 2 names now I can tell him the answer. As for my favorite character who inspired me too do something good it has to be Andy and how he always takes up for Otis instead of putting him down like most of the other Mayberry residents do. Proberly because of all the Mayberry residents I was most like Otis at one time in my life and had a monkey on my back for 25 years. I am a believer in the father, son and holy ghost. But I found that in my own time and way, Andy tried many times to help Otis as did Barney but never shoved religion at him or anyone else instead he showed us through Love and faith in our neigbors and friends that there was a better way to live this short life that we have. I try to do the same when it comes to the people I come in contact with and never judge them for whatever situation they may be in. There is something to be said about GOOD men and in my opinioh Andy was and is a GOOD man and the person he played on the show was in fact who he is in real life. - Yahoo! Autos. Elizabeth Montgomery did indeed win the emmy for that performence. John Masters & Clara Edwards: Related??
I've had a bucket on my head a lot lately, and I've started wondering something: do you suppose that John Masters and Clara Edwards were related, maybe even siblings? Let's look at the facts: A- Both take an awful lot of pride in what they do, working to maintain their reputations (John Masters with the choirs and dramas, Clara Edwards with pickles and roses) 2- Both tend to take issue with what others are doing, causing a big moulage and then leaving it for others to deal with the effects C- They share an appreciation of music, with Clara playing the church organ They even tend to resemble each other, I think. While it's true that John refers to Clara by both her first and last name "Clara Edwards," don't you suppose this is a result of the strict and formal environment in which they were raised? Maybe someone should do some research on that ancestry.com website. I hear that they have god machines, almost as good as down at the bank. Elizabeth in Ga when Clara was showing Andy her blue ribbons for making pickles, she called her husband 'Mr. Johnson'. The writer's back then never thought we would still be discussing the show 60 years later. Side note I have a friend who's last name is Smith and he married a girl whose maiden name was Smith. They lived three or four counties apart before they met. They didn't meet until college. A silent time is when Opie is trying to get into the old mine and it collapses. Dear Tags, I was watching an old tv show called The Fugitives with Robert Stack and Elizabeth Montgomery was on this episode in a role that earned her an Emmy nomination. Elliot Ness was going to an apt. to see someone and they were not at home, then gun shots and then a lady with her hair in curlers came running out of her apt. saying they were gone. It was Clara Edwards! Hope Summers. I looked up imbd to see if it was her and it was. I then looked at her other roles in her career and was floored at the other roles she has done with peoples names from TAGS! Hope Summers played these roles: Mrs. Wylie, Ethel (2), Olive, Mrs. Beeman, Clara (2), Celia, Ernestine Peasley, Martha (2), Mary, Miss Wakefield and May O'Mally Mrs. Wyle- No tea, coffee or punch, thank you. Ethel-the lady on the school board, and Ethel-the professors late wife. Olive-the waitress at the diner that has alot of kids Mrs. Beeman- reminds me of Aunt Bee and Mr. McBeevee Clara- Clara Edwards Celia-How is Celia doing today? all those operations Ernestine Peasley- reminds me of Ernest T, maybe his sister?
