Re: Hey Folks....I'm working on something special
Allan, I really really really want to join the new website, but I am concerned about having to enter my entire birth date on an unsecured website in order to be able to join. There are a lot of dishonest people out there who try to steal people's identities and birth date is one of the pieces of information they need to do that. I am not talking about you being dishonestyou are one of the most honest people I know...but websites can be hacked. Can the birth date either be removed or be made an optional entry on the sign up screen? Hey Sue, I understand your concern and I'm sorry but no, There is a legal requirement to make sure that persons under 13 years of age be handled differently than normal. (i.e. they must be protected differently) Because of that legal requirement, I don't have any choice about the birth date requirement. You can hide, and by default that's the selection, your entire birthday from everyone on the site. I can't quickly address your concerns about identity theft because that is a valid concern but in order to be a part of much of what happens online, folks will have to make that decision for themselves. I have so much information out on the web that I really have no expectation of safety so I've gone out and found other ways to protect myself. (I use LifeLock) I certainly understand trying to stay safe and continue to do my best to keep visitors to my web sites information safe as well. Each person will need to make their own decision and I completely understand. That said, I hope most of you will choose to join in with us and accept the small risk. --Allan http://iMayberryCommunity.com ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Hey Folks....I'm working on something special
Hey WBMUTBB! We're 20 years into our wonderful chapter's life and it has been GREAT! I do, however, believe that after 20 years it is now time to expand our community. I've been thinking a lot about this the last few weeks and I'm in the process of setting up a new web site that will include (I hope) the entire Mayberry community. There are a lot of chapters of TAGSRWC out there and MANY fans of The Andy Griffith Show that don't know what it's like to be able to visit daily with fellow TAGS fans. Here at WBMUTBB chapter, we've been blessed to have grown as friends because of our love of our favorite show. The new website I'm working on will, I believe, allow all of us to be visit and get to know one another even better. Plus it'll give us a way to communicate when the Digest breaks down (as it seems to do at least one time per year). It has forums, groups, chat, photos, and all the other things folks expect. The best part is that it is focused on The Andy Griffith Show and its fans. I'm excited about the possibilities of this new community web site and I'll be giving more information as the week goes along. --Allan Newsome ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

That's great news, I just hope this new site is not blocked by Websense which is what they use at my workplace. -- Walter Ted Kamprad ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Re: Hey Folks....I'm working on something special
I spent most of the day Tuesday working on my new project and, while there is a lot of work left to do, I think I can go ahead and invite you to check it out. The new web site is called iMayberry Community and I'm providing a link to sign up to join. I'm currently approving each person that joins so give me a little time to approve your membership before you give up. :) Be sure to join the WBMUTBB Chapter group after you join up. Here's the link: http://imayberrycommunity.com/?xgi=5t9SEUSxVLQRs3 Mayberry related websites, forums, podcasts, mailing lists, newsletters, and more have been on the internet for more than 20 years. I'm always amazed when folks say they never knew all this stuff about The Andy Griffith Show existed. Some knew of a few Mayberry things but didn't realize the volume of material that is on the web. The iMayberry Community goal is to help fans of The Andy Griffith Show connect with one another to share their knowledge and love of Mayberry. We're just beginning this community but with your help we should see our Mayberry friendships grow and develop relationships that are more strong. Community, friends, relationship, family.those are the things that we love about Mayberry and those are the things we want to nurture here. See you there! --Allan Newsome ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
