I think picking a favorite color episode is a little easier than picking a
favorite b&w one, but I still like all the TAGS episodes. I think my
favorite one in color is Andy having to eat three spaghetti dinners. That
was hilarious. I also like the one with Ernest T. Bass and Malcolm
Merriweather. "Englishter!" Ernest T. always makes me laugh! :) Lisa

Hey Doug,
I have mentioned in an earlier post that my favorite color episode is the one
where Andy invites Howard to join the lodge. One of the funniest scenes in the
entire eight year run occurs when Andy and Howard arrive at the Golden Door to
Good Fellowship, where Goober is the keeper of the key. He has previously
talked with Howard's mother, who falsely told him that Howard's father was
addicted to gambling. Goober runs into the lodge and starts screaming "Hide
the cards, hide the cards!" while turning over the tables. To me, this is one
of the funniest scenes I have ever seen on ANY television show...just my
opinion. What do y'all think about this one?

One that comes to mind is "Dinner at Eight," where Andy is compelled to consume
three spaghetti dinners in one evening. I love it when Andy tells Goober that
after he returns home from eating his third meal, he's going to kill him! For
the life of me, though, I can never figure out (other than for the sake of the
story line) why Andy doesn't just explain to Helen that Goober forgot to give
him her phone message! It sure would have saved him a lot of grief!

See that just goes to show ya, one mans pie is another mans poison. Of all
the color episodes, "Aunt Bee's Big Moment" is one of my favorites. (Dinner
at Eight is probably on the top of the heap tho). Back in that time it was
easier to learn to fly than to drive a car. After all, you don't have to
parallel park a plane. I was flying myself by the time I was 14. I couldn't
even legally drive a car yet. Although I did drive tractors and pickups
around on the farm since I was 13 or so.
It didn't take that many lessons to do a solo flight. Of course there is a
long way to go from soloing to actually getting a pilots license.

My single favorite color episode is "Howard the Comedian." Great jabs at
some of Mayberry's finest ("telephone, telegraph, and tell Floyd" still
makes me cackle) and character growth for the normally meek Howard Sprague.

My favorite color episode of TAGS is Dinner at Eight because I love
spaghetti. I just never could figure out why Andy didn't just come right
out and tell Helen that he was late because Goober got the messages mixed
up. Me thinks Andy really was afraid of Helen's wrath so he cowtowed to
her all the time.

My favorite color episode: "Dinner at Eight." Classic lines: "I got
spaghetti up to my eyeballs and I just wanna go to bed!" and "It's made
with a secret Greek spice (oregano)."
Second would probably be "Suppose Andy Gets Sick." Poor Andy in bed trying
to rest and being GREATLY disturbed (even by Aunt Bee) is a riot!

My favorite color episode was "A Visit To Barney Fife" - Season 7. Andy
visits Barney in Raleigh and saves his job by helping him solve a series of
supermarket robberies. Turns out that the culprits were a family that Barney
was
living with and he was unknowingly providing them with police stake-out
information. Barney again becomes a hero because of Andy and he no longer has
to make
coffee for the other detectives in the department.

I am a big champion of the color years, even though I recognize the black and
white years were still a lot better. My personal favorite is almost everyone
else's, the one where Andy eats all the spaghetti dinners. ("The secret is
in the oregano.") Other favorites include the one about Aunt Bee's cooking
show, "The Battle of Mayberry," the one about the bowling team, and the one
where
Barney comes back to town and meets Warren.

I must admit my favorite color episode is the same as George
Lindsey's...namely "Dinner at Eight" (episode 206). I have even served
spaghetti at dinner parties while watching this funny episode. Andy
certainly got himself into a mess, thanks to Goober. Watching Andy go
through 4 meals of spaghetti in one evening, and wiping his face with
his napkin, gets me every time.

One of my favorite 's is The county clerk. Andy,Helen, Howard and the county

did the double dating couples manage a whole weekend in the cabin at the lake?

Re: Season 6 dvd release (favorite color episode)

2006-01-24 Thread Doug Gibson
I am really glad that the color episodes will be
released. For years they were on sporadically, until
TV Land ran them. TAGS definitely lost something after
Season 5. It went from perfection to highly enjoyable.
I guess my favorite color episode is "Dinner at
Eight," although I enjoy "Howard's Big Fish" and the
episode where Opie gets a new job and then loses it so
the other boy can help his family. What color did,
unfortunately, was make several characters lose their
vitality; I refer mostly to Otis, Ernest T. Bass and
the Darling Family. I do enjoy watching, in the final
three seasons, the increased dimensions of Goober's
character and the emergence of Howard Sprague. Any one
have a favorite color episode?
