Hi Maverick,

Could you be more specific? Is marketing or language translation or is it
collecting payment your concerned about? As it involves e-books, at least
delivery's not so much a problem.

[wdvltalk] Re: Sherry - Online Business - Was Re: |||| India : Payment Gateway |||||

2003-03-20 Thread Alida Saxon
Hi Sherry. Is the company trying to sell in India? Otherwise you'd do best
to put your question under your own subject line, so Maverick doesn't have
his query highjacked and needing to read unnecesary mail.

As for your the company situation, if the customers are willing to pay by
paypal, then you're all set. Otherwise, they'll just have to bite the bullet
and get a merchant acct. If they don't already have one of a sort - or do
they not have the ability to take credit card orders by fax or phone? If
they do have credit card processing, you can just have the online cart to
collect the orders, and hand-key them offline for payment.

It's hard, but they should get it, so they can keep up to pace with things,
because if it isn't easy for the customer to buy, they'll get it elsewhere.
I know I wouldn't want to have to wait for a cheque to go in, get cleared,
*then* ship

[wdvltalk] Re: Anyone using FileMaker Pro for databases?

Hi Jenni,

I've not heard of Postmaster, so I would be happy to hear if anyone else
has any information about it.

Thanks,
Janet

I also have a client with multiple projects and campaigns

which is basically a mail server program with some
autoresponder features, database, etc.
Have you (or anyone else) heard anything about Postmaster
at all? Does anyone know any of the pitfalls with this
program? Would FileMaker Pro be another soluiton similar
to Postmaster?
Thanks in advance for any response.

I'll be eavesdropping. The organization I work for sells conservation products
and would like to do it online. We have a shopping cart included in our server
package but I believe we need to open up some sort of merchant account with a

the best bet to start with? I'm so sleazy I'd like to have my boss open up a
personal (read: free) PP account for this purpose. I wrote to PP and they have
no provision for non-profits. This organization is one of the poorest I've
seen so even $20 a month could be a problem if no one buys anything. My boss's
name is all over the site so she's clearly allied with the organization but
I'm wondering if customers would think this arrangement fishy. I don't think
PP would notice, frankly.

Next after that is trying to figure out how to use the shopping cart. It's
always something... and, as Joseph pointed out, if you take long rest periods
between web design sessions you lose some of your learning.
