[wdvltalk] Re: Word V PDF (OT?)

2004-02-18 Thread Ross Clutterbuck
The ideal option would be just to circulate a text only version of the
newsletter, but the publications are already established as a Word
documents with formatting, so I have to continue to meet that expectation.

RTF to the rescue?

[wdvltalk] Re: Searching with Google.

2004-02-18 Thread Joseph, Smile Poet
Peter,

I think Brits have got bored with the industrial revolution. Either
that or the country has lost all sense of purpose and direction.I
think Morgan is the only company that ignores all the changes and gets
on with hand making highly priced and highly prized vehicles; sorry
they are not ambulances!

Joseph

Thanks, Joseph - someone else had sent me MMB and I'd found Dennis but
they
don't do ambulances.

Seems the biggest ambulance maker in UK went into liquidation in 2002
with
loss of 300 jobs thanks directly to the EU Tendering policy that makes
all
Public Bodies go out to tender for this sort of value and the
Continentals
have undercut everyone. There is a suspicion they are loss leading
but of
course it cannot be proved.

  Anyone seen this problem before?

I've had an enquiry to provide a range of emergency services
vehicles
through another company I run. I did a Google search for
ambulances
via
their UK site as the specification says they MUST be UK produced.
I
used
ambulances and ambulance and got nothing.

I posted an enquiry on another Business Forum to see if anyone
knew
of a
maker and someone has come back with a suitable match that didn't
appear
when I did the search but he said it was third on his list of
results.

I've just put both words in again for another search and still got
no
  suitable results!!

Hey, Steve, thanks for the link! The bit about ColecoVision
games really struck a nerve - ColecoVision was my first and
favorite game system. Around a year ago, I downloaded the
emulator and all the ROMs I could find for it (along with a
TI-994A Emulator and all its games!) I still enjoy some of
those old games - even moreso than some of the newer ones!
Another link on that page took me to a site where I grabbed
a copy of Red Baron - one of my alltime favorite flight
simulators! It's the only one I was ever able to both take
off and actually *land* in without crashing. ;-) I love
those old bi-wings!
Jan, I'll get in touch with Adobe and see what they say. If
they OK it, I'll get back to you off-list regarding Wind
Chimes.
Thanks to all that helped me reach them. :)

Cheers,
Tom

2004-02-18 Thread Joseph, Smile Poet
Nice one Janet. I have asked for it free! It might solve my
problem of having mails acrss three programs don't ask.

Joseph

 Hi-

Just reading the current issue of Fast Company. Article features
Bloomba
which they regard as the potential successor to Outlook. They call
it the
google of email as it uses search capability to eliminate the need
for
folders for organizing email messages. It has a companion product
that is a
 spam filter.

Anyone use Bloomba? Sounds interesting even though I am firmly
attached to
my file folders (both paper and digital!)

2004-02-18 Thread Joseph, Smile Poet
Tom,

Just had a quick look at your 'what's new' page. At the bottom the
tooltip to the 'what's new' links comes up behind the entity 7 - Web
design banner. I assume this is the effect of layers. Here it
looks like the difficulty of the banner floating above a coloured box
which partners the coloured box with the text links.

Is there a way round this? Without a lot of work, that is. Anyone
else faced such a problem?
