This user owns both domains and pays the hosting on both.
What he wants to do is trigger a cgi on domain #1 from domain #2
and pass one value to it. I'm not worried about abuse because he
barely can manage a browser. :>)

Right now he has a web page with this code in it and every few
hours he has someone load that page and click the 'Submit' button.
This isn't reliable because his helper doesn't follow through well.
What he's asked for is a way to have this automated. During his work
day he's not allowed to access either of these sites from his
desk. The script running on domain #1 cannot be modified and he
can't run cron jobs on that server. He has a leased software package
and the license doesn't allow any changes to the site other than
graphics.

So, any ideas on how to accomplish this?

Opera reports 2 seconds flat, Mozilla seems to be just as fast,
all on a cable modem / Win2k.

WinFax is just the app that sends/receives. Sending can be done through
any kind of connection. Receiving *may* be limited to dial-in, and then
you'd use your dial-in phone #. For receiving, I use efax. For sending,
I use Winfax connected to my cable modem. Efax assigns you a number
when you sign up, and I think there's an option (maybe paid?) to get a
number in your local area. I don't have 'locals' faxing me, so I live
in Chicago but my in-coming fax # is in Revere, MA - go figure. At the
time I signed up (many years ago) they didn't have an option for local
numbers and I didn't care.

WinFaxPro will send/receive faxes via any connection; direct
dial, dial-up internet, DSL internet, ASDL internet, cable
modem internet - any. I use it all the time.

If you've lost the original files, then just look at those
pages in a browser and then view the source of those pages.
In IE, get the page on the screen, mouse in the middle,
and right-click / view source. Now save this.

In Opera, right-click, Frame, view source.
In Mozilla, right-click, view page source.

Or you could just save the page: file, save as...

On the Win2k box,
Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management
System Tools -> Local Users and Groups -> Users
In right panel, right click on Guest, choose Properties
Make sure "Account is disabled" is NOT checked and make any other
changes you want. Because my Win2k system is only connected to
my in-my-house LAN, I also check "User cannot change password"
and "Password never expired"

OK your way out, close windows. Now from the Win98 computer you
should be able to access any devices/directories you've shared
on the Win2k system. You may have to enter the password used on
the Win2k box when you're at the win98 box, but that's all it takes.

On the Win2k system - did you enable the "Guest" account? Unless you
do that, Win2k may not allow any shares outside it's system.

Color detection? Literacy? Web connections? You're probably

First, find FDISK and FORMAT and copy them to the floppy. Then
you can boot from the floppy and do either or both.

Then, check your BIOS settings and see if you can find an
option that lets you boot from CD, and then boot with the
WIN CD and go from there. Feel free to write me offlist if
you need help/files.

This sounds like a problem that bugged me for ages. Have you
every run ZoneAlarm on this system? And then quit? If so,
re-run or re-install ZoneAlarm and let it run. If not, then
ignore this suggestion.

I had ZA running and then when I installed my router/firewall,
I thought - not needing ZA any more - I'd stop it from loading.
All of a sudden, many apps wouldn't access the 'net. After many
months - yep, MONTHS - I reinstaled ZA and everything started
working. Your problem might be something like this.
