Thanks all, I like the idea baout 'OCR - ing' the images with Fine Reader. On the other hand, there's NO WAY I'm gonna scan all the pages again... That's 700 pages in all. I've got my share of scanning lol !!! Does your scanner have an OCR option? If so, I would try that so that it scans it in as text instead of an image. You may have to make some corrections though. It's been a while since I used OCR with a scanner, but I do remember having to make some corrections to the text. The OCR did not recognize some letters correctly and replaced them with a different character or a number. I'm sure the technology has improved in the last 4 years. Good luck! Scansoft has a beta PDF to Word available. I don't have a url for it but you might could find it on their site or at least a phone number to find out if you can get the beta. From Word to RTF is easy. Even if you don't have Word there are dozens of free/almost free programs out there that read/convert Word docs. Cheryl D.
