I don't have a router. The only change I did make was to reset my
password. It is also only some sites that come up blank.

you did in the end was reset the router, it shouldn't matter.

However, you haven't reset the modem then. To do that, plug in directly to
the modem from any machine. Then login to the 192.169.0.1 address and do the
reset. Then replug back to the router and recycle the router (power on and
off) and the modem. Router back on first, then modem. That should clear the
dsl modem and any problems it has.

Thanks for the reply.

Last week when my DSL went out, I called tech support to get back online.
They had me go to a certain website (192.168.0.1) to try and fix the
problem, but anytime I tried to navigate from there I got a blank page. The
woman did tell me to go to the Advanced tab under Internet Options and click
on Restore Defaults. The only problem is that I don't remember what they
were originally set to - looks o.k. to me though.

I will try your other suggestions.

Thanks,
Riva

First, what did you last change before the problem started? Undo it and see
if that fixes it. If it doesn't, redo it.
We have 3rd park app which downloads its own ActiveX control. Now and then
the control just decides to get flaky. When that happens we get the same
condition you do. Deleting the control and letting it reinstall fixes it.

Have you been ordering from Circuit City or Blockbuster? If so, perhaps
there is a control you download in the process. Not a clue what it would be.
Perhaps they have a FAQ which would help.
At times windows auto update can cause problems. Although that usually
knocks out IE totally, even though FF and Opera will function. Sometimes all
it takes to clear it is to clear the annoying auto update message. Other
times, have to actually do something about the upgrades.
Lastly have you tried checking that the necessary services are registered
and running properly? Use a command prompt to type in and press enter for
each of these:
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 comcat.dll
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll

Since the problem is so narrowly focused and clearly a problem your machine
has, it isn't really likely any of these , other than the first, will likely
work. But you never know,

Hi all,

I have found this odd problem happening lately. I am unable to access
certain websites with IE. Circuity City and Blockbuster are two examples.
I can get there with NN and with FF but when I try and browse with IE the
page comes up blank. No error messages - just a white page. It says Done
at the bottom and clicking Refresh has not helped either. I have Googled
and run Windows troubleshooters but to no avail. Any ideas??

TIA,
Riva

Hi Joseph,
I don't think so. When I connect, the window that opens for SBC is IE.
That is the one that I am having problems with. When I open FF myself
and browse I have no problems.

So far as I know it is the same program that connects both! Would your
problem be like that?

Not sure what to try now.
