Re: [web2py] Re: webfaction clean install unable to save any files in admin edit mode
Any progress with uwsgi? I am about to give up on this project and will have to wait for another to try web2py again. I have a deadline of having to renew a hosting arrangement and that date is pretty much fixed. It is now nearly two weeks since I decided to give web2py a shot and unfortunately I have had no joy in installing it within my parameters, so I feel that I have little choice here, for now. Thanks for trying to help Michel
Re: [web2py] Re: webfaction clean install unable to save any files in admin edit mode
Yes Johann, I also believe that there is something happening webfaction side and I think that they are fiddling something. It has happened before in my short experience and I am slightly weary. Your issue is probably different as in this case it was working and then stopped without any interference on my part. Thanks anyway Kind regards Michel

The suport people at Webfaction fixed that for me as some of the files had 'root' ownership. Ah, ok, I thought this was a different branch and that I had to use a different repo name or branch to pull it. But now, uwsgi, doesn't seem to work again. So I am not sure about introducing another issue prior to fixing the main one.. to have uwsgi working.

Re: [web2py] Re: webfaction clean install unable to save any files in admin edit mode
Bad news... I left my site well alone after the success yesterday. This morning, unfortunately, it was as if nothing had be done. I killed uwsgi and re-started after overwriting the copy... All to no avail... I get the double log in (wth two web2py logos in top left corner), and request to re-log in, nearly every page, and a communication error on any attempt to save a file in the admin panel. That's all folks! I am getting suspicious that things are achanging from under my feet at webfaction. Is that paranoia?
Re: [web2py] Re: webfaction clean install unable to save any files in admin edit mode
But where do I download the code for that version?
Re: [web2py] Re: webfaction clean install unable to save any files in admin edit mode
Ok Roberto, I am willing to try that. Does this version of uwsgi include the fix for my problem? Or can I run two different version of uwsgi at the same time. If so, is it just a matter of renaming uswgi file to something different?

Re: [web2py] Re: webfaction clean install unable to save any files in admin edit mode
Ok Roberto, I managed to build and test. At first view It seems to work. I can modify files and save them. So, there is great progress, thanks a lot. Is there anything else I could do to help you or the community in anyway? Don't hesitate to ask or suggest. Michel
Re: [web2py] Re: webfaction clean install unable to save any files in admin edit mode
Hi Roberto, Unfortunately, it failed on the make. It is missing libxml2 development package, In the error message there is a mention of using libexpat or disabling XML... Anything I can do about this? Michel

OK, will give it a shot and let you know. What is the mercurial command for the version you committed? Michel

It works only in --http-socket mode (not --http one). If you can install the mercurial version on webfaction and test it, i will backport the patch to the stable tree. Fine I can duplicate an re-duplicate here. I can insert any code to debug/test and am quite prepared to help in anyway. I just need some guidance as I am in an area where I have little knowledge (uwsgi). Thanks again Michel

This can be easy fixed with a WSGI middleware, but i would like to be sure about it. -- Roberto De Ioris http://unbit.it

try to change for the uswgi user. can you see which user it is using? may be www-data or even www or apache On Sun, Oct 2, 2011 at 10:20 PM, MidGe wrote: > Hi there, > > If I disable the https requirement for the admin, I will not be able > to get into the admin area either. > > The strange thing is that I can log in.
