Hi Drew, drew wrote on 2011-09-26 18:56: Alight - well, I created 4 pages, the en base page and 3 translation pages. [none of which are currently published] thanks a lot! http://challenge.documentfoundation.org/donate This is the base page in en-US language My proposal would be to attach those pages to the local LibreOffice pages, i.e. www.libreoffice.org/donate de.libreoffice.org/spenden fr.libreoffice.org/don ru.libreoffice.org/жертвовать (Google translate ;-) The challenge website and URL will vanish soon. A couple of problems - first the paypal form. Not quite sure how to set that up: I designated the page type for the new pages as user form, then tried to copy the html for the form along with the rest of the content, but the form stuff is simply stripped out...I suppose this is simply a case of where you must do it via the CMS UI - so not a big thing really. IIRC, you need to create a page of the type DonatePage and then use $PayPalTDF as keyword/macro. However when I created the RU and FR pages I am not able to edit content, each page is read-only for me (in fact in the CMS the page is listed as hidden]...I have no idea what is up with that really? Erich: Maybe you can help? IMHO, it is about missing rights in CMS? Anyway - I did notice that on the challenge site a few of the translated pages are out of date, still showing OOoDev information for example...so that is something that needs attention and I have no access to that area so can't help with that. Indeed, we have to work on these. I fixed a few of them, but probably didn't spot all. Thanks, Drew! Can you imagine what it would be like to go to a software convention, or other type, with 10 or more people wearing logo shirts with some great phrase about why you should switch to LO? People see it and might wonder what it is and then look it up at home, or come over to talk to one of the people wearing the shirts. It would be interesting to find a place that offers good prices on placing a large logo on the back of a light jacket or sweatshirt, with something on the front as well. Walk down the street, people follow and see the logo with a URL. having merchandise for the team members and for externals to buy is definitely on the agenda. Re: [libreoffice-website] Changing donation URL on LibO homepage
Right now, I am looking into a company that is doing Polo shirts, with embroidered logos, for under $5 each. I will be buying some for testing how good they are, but with a different organization's logo on it. These will be for hand-outs using an internal raffle, so the low price is good. Hopefully the quality is good. So, if someone like me would order a number of polo shirts, and other items with the LO logo on them, then sells some, WHO is the USA person who does the marketing for this region. Who is in charge or tries to coordinate the shows that are in this region of the world? If someone earns money for the USA region with the idea of some of it going to USA/Canada marketing, who would be the person that would get the money to distribute it towards the marketing costs for the shows and events of this region? Now that there is a donation site being worked on for LO [International], I am wondering about regional marketing monies donations, when they come. Re: [libreoffice-website] Changing donation URL on LibO homepage
Hi, webmaster for Kracked Press Productions wrote on 2011-09-26 16:21: Since I was told that the donations was for the German location, server, marketing, etc., I was wondering if that was true? To be honest, I know there is a need to pay for the running of servers and other things that the TDF/LO needs as an organization it is currently. Things cost money and it should not be required for individuals to foot the bills for a professional organization. Bandwidth and electricity are two monthly bills that everyone can agree on that needs money to keep things going. Then there are fees involved with the government paperwork for setting up and running an organization. I agree, we didn't point our the latest spendings to the lists - I am sorry for that, and that surely will be done. The main investments currently have been for trademarks, professional law services, the crosscompiling development work we've been discussing on steering-discuss@, the LibOCon (dito) and some infrastructure. For me personally, I would like to see some donations go into regional marketing, if possible. I know that there were many shows that LO people were at in the USA/Canada region and they really could have used some marking dollars to print up banners, print up brochures, make give aways [CDs/DVDs, key-chains, shirts, etc.], and any other item needed for having a good looking table at a show. Definitely, we need to find a way to provide money for community activities. Right now, it is easy: We simply don't have enough money. I plan a second round of fundraising, but I want the foundation to be established for that, because the foundation is what we promised for the first round, and I first like to make that happen before asking for money again. :-) (BTW, a status update on the foundation will be blogged soon. Thinks do look good.) In parallel, we should evaluate how to cooperate with local NGOs and teams, how to collect and distribute money. This is something on the agenda for the Paris conference. Hope that helps a bit ;) Florian -- Florian Effenberger flo...@documentfoundation.org Steering Committee and Founding Member of The Document Foundation Tel: +49 8341 99660880 | Mobile: +49 151 14424108 Skype: floeff | Twitter/Identi.ca: @floeff -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to website+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/website/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

[libreoffice-website] Changing donation URL on LibO homepage
Hi, Taking a little proactive step here in response to some recent discussion regarding the continued use of the challenge site for soliciting donations. I've taken the liberty of changing the LibreOffice home page, specifically the URL used for the right hand banner link to: http://www.documentfoundation.org/contribution/ as a short term (maybe longer?) fix. I have saved the change in the CMS but have not published the page - if there are no objections I'll plan on doing that later today.
